The water play area
the kids absolutely loved last year!
This year, we rushed back as soon as it opened.
There were quite a few changes this year, from the reservation system
to the water play facilities compared to last year,
so I had many questions before we went.
Can I go without a reservation?
Should I arrive earlier than my reserved time?
Which parking lot is closest?
Are the slides suitable for elementary schoolers?
Are there enough shaded spots?
On opening day, I personally explored and checked everything out,
including the reservation and entry methods, parking routes,
water play facilities, water depth, and what to bring.
I'm going to share all the details I was curious about before visiting.

2. Hanbat Arboretum Water Play Area Location & Parking |

The Hanbat Arboretum Water Play Area is located
underneath the Daejeon Expo Citizen's Plaza Moving Shelter.
When you visit, you can set your navigation to
either 'Hanbat Arboretum' or 'Expo Citizen's Plaza'.
Hanbat Arboretum Parking Lot: 3 Hours Free
Parking Fee: First 3 hours free
After 3 hours, ~$0 per 15 minutes
Maximum daily fee: ~$8
You can park at the Dunsan Grand Park Parking Lot (in front of Daejeon Yeonjeong Korean Traditional Music Center) or
in front of the Insectarium.
However, on weekends, this area gets incredibly crowded,
so finding a parking spot might be challenging.
Since I visited on a weekday,
it was easy to find a spot,
and it took about 3-5 minutes to walk from the parking lot to the water play area.
Since you'll likely have a lot of gear,
I highly recommend bringing a wagon or a foldable cart!
3. Hanbat Arboretum Water Play Area Reservations & Entry |
To enter the Hanbat Arboretum Water Play Area,
you need to make a reservation on a separate booking website.
You can reserve without signing up,
using just your mobile phone number.
Every Monday at 11 AM,
tickets for that week's sessions are

Access the Hanbat Arboretum Children's Water Park reservation page → Select your desired date → Choose your session (morning, afternoon) → Enter your name, phone number, and number of participants, then complete the reservation → On the day of your visit, confirm your reservation details and enter |
On weekends,
reservations can fill up quickly,
so it's best to apply
as soon as bookings open.
Since my visit was on a weekday when it first opened,
there were plenty of spots available,
so I was able to visit without a reservation.
At the venue,
after showing your reservation confirmation message,
you'll receive an entry wristband.
Wristbands are distributed starting
about 30 minutes before each session begins,
but if you arrive too early,
children might have to wait a long time
in the heat.
Even if you couldn't make a reservation, there's still a way!
If there are no-shows from reserved guests,
you can enter from 10:30 AM onwards
based on the on-site waiting list.
However, on-site entry
depends on the remaining capacity,
so rather than waiting indefinitely with your child,
we highly recommend booking online first if possible.
4. Hanbat Arboretum Water Park Water Play Facilities and Depths |
The first thing I noticed upon entering was that
this year, similar to last year,
it's designed primarily around slides and play facilities.
The Arch Slide that was at the entrance
is still there,
while the tall, large slide that operated at the very end
has been replaced with a new Rainbow Slide!

This is the first and largest inflatable pool
you'll encounter right at the entrance.
You can slide down
from both sides,
and kids can also jump and play in the inflatable areas at both ends.
The depth isn't too deep,
making it the most popular spot for children
from kindergarteners to elementary school students.
Perhaps because it was the opening day, the waiting lines weren't long,
so it was great for repeated use.
*Please remember to take off your shoes inside all pools.
Modular Pools 70cm / 90cm |
The modular pools
operate with two different depths: approximately 70cm and 90cm.
70cm Pool: About adult thigh-deep
90cm Pool: About adult hip-deep
The 70cm pool is
wonderful for infants and young elementary school children
to enjoy with their guardians.
I noticed the 90cm pool was
a big hit with slightly older kids.
What's great is that, last year, this pool had
a giant float, making it quite crowded,
but this year it's gone,
allowing for a much more relaxed experience.
Plus,
maybe because it was the very first day,
the water was sparkling clean!
Based on last year's experience,
when I visited on a Sunday afternoon during the weekend,
it was so packed that the water got quite cloudy.
Personally,
this year too,
I'd recommend visiting in the morning
or on a Tuesday!
Palm Tree Slide Splash Slide |
There were tons of facilities specially designed for our littlest explorers, too!
Among them, the Palm Tree Slide and Splash Slide
were clearly the most popular spots for infants and toddlers.
They aren't too high
and the descent isn't too fast,
making them absolutely perfect for young children to enjoy without any worries.

The Pink Hippo Slide and Hot Sun Slide
were definitely the biggest hits with 6-7 year olds
and young elementary school children.
They're a bit taller
and have a good speed,
so kids were lining up again and again
to ride them repeatedly! Lol!
Excluding the Rainbow Slide,
all other facilities
have no height or weight restrictions.
*However, adults are not permitted to ride.
Challenge Run |
Beyond just splashing around,
the Challenge Run was also a super popular spot.
It's a competitive game where two people start at the same time,
navigate through obstacles,
and race to see who arrives first.
It was so popular that kids, from young children to elementary school students,
kept lining up again and again
to conquer it.

And the absolute standout facility this year was
Meet the Rainbow Slide!
Last year, there were large slides on both sides, but this year it's been updated to
one massive slide!
From afar, it looks incredibly tall and
might seem a bit intimidating,
but surprisingly, the speed isn't super-fast,
making it quite manageable and fun!
In fact, because it doesn't pick up too much speed,
you won't often find yourself sliding far into the water.
While the overall facility layout hasn't changed drastically
from last year,
this time they've really focused on offering a diverse range of ways to enjoy the slides!
What's really fantastic is how they've evenly distributed facilities suitable for all ages,
from preschoolers to elementary school kids.
This means if siblings come together,
everyone can find something fun to do!
5. Hanbat Arboretum Water Park Shade & Rest Areas for Visitors |
While the kids splash around in the water,
parents and guardians often spend quite a bit of time waiting in the rest areas, right?
At the Hanbat Arboretum Water Park,
you'll find designated visitor rest areas on both sides.
While it was great to have a shaded spot to relax,
the shaded space didn't feel quite ample enough
for the number of visitors.
Upon entry, it's a smart move to quickly scout out which facilities your kids will gravitate towards,
then grab a spot in a nearby rest area right away!
For preschoolers → aim for areas around the Palm Tree Slide or Splash Slide.
For elementary schoolers → the Challenge Run or Rainbow Slide areas are your best bet.
The rest area floors are designed with a slight elevation from the ground,
which is great, but
with kids running around in wet clothes,
the floor can still get soaked pretty quickly.
So, instead of placing your belongings directly on the floor,
a waterproof mat is absolutely essential!
Deep inside, there's even a section with camping chairs,
but these spots are few and far between,
making them the most coveted!
While these chairs are super comfy for guardians to relax with their backrests,
they are a bit further from where the kids play.
So, it's a good idea to weigh the comfort of the seat
against how easy it is to keep an eye on your little explorers!
I noticed a lot of people brought their own camping chairs too!
If you're packing chairs, towels, and even tubes,
then a handcart or wagon is an absolute must-have!
6. Hanbat Arboretum Water Play Area: Showers, Changing Rooms, & Restrooms |
Near the entrance,
you'll find an air pump for tubes, simple shower facilities, and temporary changing rooms.
Beyond the regular men's and women's changing rooms, there are also family changing rooms,
which makes changing clothes for young children much more convenient.
When each operating session wraps up,
visitors tend to gather all at once,
so it can get a bit crowded.
These simple showers aren't fully enclosed
private booths;
they're more for a quick rinse after your water fun.
There's no hot water,
only cold water is available,
and using soap or shampoo is not permitted.
So, just give yourself a quick rinse,
towel off,
and I highly recommend doing your full wash once you get home!
You'll also find a first-aid station and tube rentals on-site.
The restrooms are
right next to the water play area.
Just be aware you might need to step out and move a bit to get there if you're deep in the fun.
A pro tip: confirm the restroom's location with your little ones before you enter so
you won't be scrambling when nature calls urgently!
7. Hanbat Arboretum Water Play Area: What to Pack |

8. Hanbat Arboretum Water Play Area: Food & Usage Tips |
Eating and drinking are restricted
inside the water play area itself.
But outside the water park? You're good to go! 👌
If you're wearing your admission wristband,
you can easily exit to grab a bite and then
re-enter the water play area.
Having visited myself,
I can tell you that just by checking your reservation, parking location, and rest areas beforehand,
your visit will be incredibly smooth and enjoyable.
It's fantastic that you can enjoy this for free right in downtown Daejeon,
and with diverse facilities catering to various age groups,
it's truly an excellent spot for summer water adventures.
Before you visit,
just be sure to double-check the Monday 11 AM reservation schedule and
your packing list,
and then get ready for an unforgettable time!

Reservations for the Hanbat Arboretum Water Park can be made using your mobile phone number on the dedicated reservation website (www.hanbatwater.co.kr). Tickets for the upcoming week are released sequentially every Monday at 11:00 AM, so it's best to apply right at the opening time if you plan to visit on a weekend.
The 2026 Hanbat Arboretum Water Park will operate from Thursday, July 23rd to Sunday, August 16th. It will be closed every Monday. Operating hours are divided into two sessions: Session 1 from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM, and Session 2 from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM. Each session consists of 45 minutes of operation followed by a 15-minute break.
It is recommended to park at Dunsan Grand Park parking lot (in front of Daejeon Yeonjeong Korean Traditional Music Center) or in front of the Insect Ecological Park. Parking is free for the first 3 hours. After 3 hours, the fee is ~$0 per 15 minutes, with a daily maximum of ~$8.
The prefabricated pools operate at depths of approximately 70cm and 90cm. The 70cm pool is suitable for infants to lower elementary school children accompanied by a guardian, while the 90cm pool is appropriate for slightly older children.
Food consumption is restricted inside the water park. However, if you are wearing an entry wristband, you can exit to eat outside the water park and re-enter.
