Haeyuldham is nestled perfectly between Jeonju Gaeksa and the Hanok Village.
It was our (Bamkki's family) checkout day from our accommodation, so we had to drive,
but the nearby Wansan Parking Lot remained free,
allowing us to park with ease.

Wansan Parking Lot is just a minute's walk from Haeyuldham,
and since it's always free, you can leave your car there.
It's even perfect for a weekend plan: enjoy lunch and then stroll over to the Hanok Village!

A magnificent standalone building, draped in beautiful ivy,
that's Haeyuldham, a true culinary gem in Jeonju.
2. Haeyuldham's Interior Ambiance, Side Dishes, and Welcome Drink

Weekends tend to be busy with many reservations for family gatherings and such,
so it's highly recommended to book in advance!
These are photos of the first floor taken when it was less crowded,
but by the time we left, there seemed to be a waiting line.

We were guided upstairs to the second floor in due course.
There's an open kitchen in the center,
with seating arranged all around the windows.

This means most of the 4-person tables offered a wonderfully pleasant atmosphere!
Judging by how almost every table was already set,
it seemed like reservations were continuously booked up.

Haeyuldham, Jeonju's Meat Paradise: Side Dishes
For sauces, you get salt, wasabi, fermented seafood paste, and a special soy sauce.

The side dishes were delightfully simple: various pickled vegetables,
along with green onion kimchi and white kimchi.
A perfect combination that pairs wonderfully with both pork and beef! ❣️

As a welcome drink at Haeyuldham,
we were offered Moju and sweet pumpkin sikhye.
Keep in mind that Moju contains alcohol,
so if you're driving, it's a no-go!
That's why Bamkki enjoyed the Moju while my husband had the sikhye 🤣🤣
It was hot and humid after the rain,
but taking a refreshing sip
instantly awakened our appetites! 🤗

Where you can savor both pork and beef!
Haeyuldam: A Must-Visit Meat Restaurant in Jeonju
Don't all the meal options look incredibly appetizing, right?
They explain the flavors for each type using a quadrant system,
which made it even better as we could order exactly to our preference! 😘
For our party of two, we first ordered the Special Prime Beef Tongue and Hanwoo Samgak,
and later, we added an order of Garo Mak-sal (skirt steak)!
As for a meal, we ordered the Aged Kimchi Cold Buckwheat Noodles (Mukeunji Mul Makguksu).
4. My Honest Review of Haeyuldam, Jeonju's Premier Meat Restaurant

One of the absolute best things about Haeyul, this fantastic restaurant in Jeonju, is
that the staff grills the meat for you, from start to finish,
and what's more, they grill it perfectly.
Before the meat, they grilled some shishito peppers, sweet pumpkin,
and chamnamul (pignut-like herb) first, then carefully placed them on a separate, small grill.
These taste even better when you use them to wrap your meat later!

First up was Haeyuldam's Special Prime Beef Tongue.
Beef tongue, as you might guess, is the tongue of a cow,
a popular menu item often found in Japanese Yakiniku,
but surprisingly, it's not that common in Korea.
So, if you spot it on the menu, you absolutely *have* to order it! 😂

The beef tongue was thickly sliced and prepared,
so they grilled it to a satisfying thickness for us to enjoy.

From this angle, it almost looks like ham, doesn't it? 😂
And with that satisfying thickness,
the beef tongue offered an explosion of delightful chewiness...💛
Honestly, it was the most delicious beef tongue I've ever tasted in Korea! 🥹

As we were enjoying our meat, they even gave us Kimchi Jjageuli as a complimentary service! What a treat!
That's the generous spirit of Jeollado for you! 😝
It wasn't overly spicy, but rather like a richer, more concentrated version of Kimchi Jjigae.
It even had delicious chunks of pork inside.
I highly recommend ordering the Gamassotbap (rice cooked in a cast iron pot) later and pairing it with this! 🔥

Next, we had the Hanwoo Samgak.
They say it's a triangular-shaped cut from the sirloin tip of the cow.

We decided to try it because it's a cut you don't often find elsewhere. 😉
You could choose between the plain (saeng) or seasoned (yangnyeom) grilled options,
and since a half-and-half option was available, we requested that from the staff!
First, they grilled the plain portion for us,
and the other half was marinated and then grilled later.

The plain cut was simply enjoyed wrapped in chamnamul with a touch of jeotgal (fermented seafood sauce),
while the seasoned one was served with chopped green onions – simply irresistible!
Despite being a leaner cut,
the texture was incredibly tender yet satisfyingly chewy,
allowing us to truly savor the exquisite taste of Korean beef 🩵

And since I hadn't had a proper bowl of rice (?) for two days,
I ordered a single portion of Gamassotbap because I was really craving some rice.
It seemed to have a very, very light soy sauce seasoning, which was perfect.

They gave us seaweed, cucumber, and ginger,
which were delicious to wrap and eat together,
and also great with the complimentary jjageul (stew).

And since we still craved more meat, we ordered the garomaksal.
True to HaeYuldame's reputation for pork,
its rich meaty aroma and chewy texture were superb!
It was somewhere between galmaegisal (pork skirt meat) and gabrisal (pork jowl) in taste...?
We left the car behind,
so we really should have had more drinks... 🤣

Another meal we ordered was the Mukeunji Mul Makguksu.
They said makguksu dishes take over 15 minutes,
so you should order it while you're still eating the meat
to ensure a seamless dining experience, lol.
Perhaps it was a truly authentic makguksu with a high buckwheat content,
because the noodles had that satisfyingly breakable texture, making it taste even more refreshing.
The mukeunji (aged kimchi) wasn't sour; it was actually on the milder side,
so when you ate the noodles with the mukeunji and the broth,
it felt perfectly balanced! *0*
It was so convenient that they cooked all the meat for us,
and that wraps up my review of HaeYuldame in Gaeksa, a fantastic restaurant near Jeonju Hanok Village!
You can use the Wansan Parking Lot, which is conveniently located about a minute's walk from Haeyuldam. Parking there is free of charge.
We operate from 16:00 to 22:30 on weekdays (Mon-Fri) and from 12:00 to 22:30 on weekends (Sat-Sun). As weekends tend to be busy with family gatherings and other events, we highly recommend making a reservation in advance through Catchtable or Naver Reservations.
At Haeyuldam, our staff will expertly grill your meat from start to finish to perfection. Additionally, before the main meat is cooked, we grill shishito peppers, pumpkin, and chamnamul (pignut greens) and serve them separately on a small grill.
We offer Moju and pumpkin sikhye as welcome drinks. Please note that Moju contains alcohol, so drivers should exercise caution. Makguksu dishes, such as Mugeunji Mul Makguksu, take over 15 minutes to prepare, so we recommend ordering them in advance during your meat meal.
