When it comes to savoring authentic bindaetteok (mung bean pancakes) in Seoul’s iconic Gwangjang Market, I’ve always been a one-track kind of traveler. My heart, and my stomach, belong to Sunheene Bindaetteok. Year after year, it’s the taste I crave, the flavor that calls me back.
You might have seen "Parkgane Bindaetteok" featured on Netflix's "Street Food" series, but I’m here to let you in on a little secret: true locals often head to other spots in Gwangjang Market. That’s why I felt compelled to share this gem with you!
On my most recent visit, I decided to shake things up a bit. Alongside my usual mung bean pancake, I tried tteokbokki for the very first time at Sunheene. The verdict? The bindaetteok was as satisfyingly familiar as ever. The tteokbokki, however, left me with a slightly different impression. Stick around for the full scoop!
Based on my visit on a weekday afternoon in September 2026, I’ll share all the details on waiting times and prices, so you can plan your own delicious adventure!

Waiting & Seating
We arrived around 1:47 PM and were able to grab seats right away! While we were eating, I noticed about four other groups rotated through the nearby spots.
The place where we ate wasn't a formal restaurant, but rather a spot right in the bustling heart of Gwangjang Market! Our table was essentially the top of a refrigerator, which, honestly, just added to the fun and authentic market experience.

Menu

My friend and I visited, but she wasn't particularly hungry, so we just ordered one mung bean pancake and one serving of tteokbokki.
My friend barely sampled hers, while I had it for lunch, and honestly, it turned out to be quite a substantial meal for us!
Mung Bean Pancake (Nokdu Bindaetteok)

This was exactly the Sunheene mung bean pancake I know and love! Savory and perfectly crispy, it never disappoints.
There's a reason why I consistently choose this spot for bindaetteok every time I visit Gwangjang Market. Even the local elders flock here!
My only minor note for this visit was that I wished it had been cooked just a little longer. That signature crispiness I remember from Sunheene could have been even more pronounced, which would have made it absolutely perfect!
Still, the mung bean pancake itself was everything I expected and satisfied my craving completely.
Tteokbokki
This was my first time trying tteokbokki at Sunheene, and I was curious to see how it stacked up.

Honestly, it tasted like your average rice tteokbokki. It wasn't bad, but it also didn't give me that special "must-eat-this-in-Gwangjang-Market-at-Sunheene" feeling.
It would be a shame if someone tried this as their very first tteokbokki ever. There are so many incredibly delicious tteokbokki out there that offer a much more memorable experience!
An Eco-Bag Surprise After Lunch
After filling up at Sunheene, we wandered around the market and stumbled upon a shop called Wanglim Sangsa. I hadn't planned on buying an eco-bag at Gwangjang Market, but after browsing, I couldn't resist!
The quality of the cotton was fantastic, and the bags were spacious, priced at just ~$7 and ~$5! I'm already planning a trip back specifically for that gorgeous blue bag. The color is absolutely stunning!

That's the beauty of exploring a traditional market, isn't it? I went for bindaetteok and ended up with a fantastic canvas bag that I use all the time!

Recommendations
👍 Highly Recommended
As someone who consistently chooses Sunheene Bindaetteok whenever I visit Gwangjang Market, I was once again thoroughly satisfied with their mung bean pancake. For just ~$4, considering the vibrant market atmosphere, I'd definitely go back for more!
🤔 Maybe Skip This One
This is purely based on my personal taste, but the tteokbokki wasn't compelling enough for me to order it again.
I'll definitely return to Sunheene for their mung bean pancake, but for tteokbokki, I'll probably stick to other specialties.
And if you're not quite ready to leave after your meal, take some time to stroll around Gwangjang Market. You might just discover an unexpected treasure, like I did with my eco-bag!
That wraps up my Gwangjang Market adventure! Until next time!
