Discover Gukbo Garden in Samseong-dong, Seoul. Experience the melt-in-your-mouth magic of 1++ No.9 Hanwoo beef served a la carte near COEX Mall.
Last weekend, I helped a friend out with some work.
When he offered to buy me dinner as a thank-you, I gave him a strict ultimatum: it had to be premium Korean beef, or I was heading straight home.
Luckily, he didn't hesitate. He smiled and said, "Deal!"
So, without wasting a second, I dragged him straight to Gukbo Garden Samseong Main Branch.

Why I'm Obsessed with Gukbo Garden
The Elite 1++ No.9 Grade
To be honest, I first discovered Gukbo Garden during a company dinner a while back, and I fell head over heels.
The reason? The incredible quality of the beef paired with surprisingly fair pricing!

Even standard 1++ (the highest grade in Korea) is rare, but "No.9" is the absolute pinnacle—representing only the top 1% of all Korean beef. It’s the ultimate marble-score dream.
But here is the kicker: the price!
We all know that top-tier Hanwoo is incredibly delicious, but it usually costs an absolute fortune.
If you go to high-end Hanwoo dining spots in Cheongdam-dong, they easily charge ~$96 to ~$160 per person for set courses. What makes Gukbo Garden so special is that they don't force you into a pricey course menu. Instead, you can order your favorite cuts a la carte.
Being able to choose exactly the cut you're craving is a massive plus. That is why I keep coming back here.
Even when you look at the price per 5.3 oz portion, getting this level of elite quality at this price point is an incredible deal in Gangnam!

Location & Parking
Finding parking around the COEX and Samseong-dong area can be a total nightmare, but Gukbo Garden offers convenient valet parking, making it super easy if you're driving.
The Vibe & Interior
Stepping inside, you quickly realize this isn't your average, smoky neighborhood barbecue joint. The interior is highly sophisticated, featuring beautiful lighting and a clean, modern Asian aesthetic.
They have private dining rooms up on the second floor, but since we walked in without a reservation, we grabbed a table in the main dining hall.

Honestly, I was so hungry that I forgot to take more interior photos, haha!
What We Ordered (For 2 People)
Here is exactly what we feasted on:
Hanwoo Beef Tartare (Yukhoe) x 1
Premium Beef (Ribeye & Salchi-sal) x 3 portions
Marinated Pork x 1
Finished with a savory Doenjang-jjigae (Soybean Paste Stew)
We definitely ate a ton! Shoutout to my friend for footing the bill (love ya!).

The Taste Test
🥩 Hanwoo Beef Tartare (Yukhoe)
We started with the fresh beef tartare, lightly tossed in a sweet and savory sesame-soy dressing. It was incredibly fresh and served as the perfect light appetizer to wake up our palates before the main event.

🔥 Premium Ribeye & Salchi-sal (Flank Tail)

Once the double-refined hardwood charcoal was glowing hot, our professional server cooked everything for us from start to finish. You don't have to lift a finger—just sit back and grab each perfectly grilled piece.
The taste? It literally melts on your tongue!
To be honest, I was eating so fast that I barely remember which cut was which, haha! One cut had a wonderfully tender chew, while the ribeye was deeply infused with smoky charcoal flavor. It was so clean and rich that we couldn't stop eating.
The variety of side dishes also kept every single bite feeling fresh.

🐷 Premium Marinated Pork
After savory steaks, you always need to finish with sweet marinated meat. It's a Korean BBQ rule!
I already knew their marinated beef ribs were out of this world from my last corporate dinner, but ordering another round of premium beef on my friend's tab felt a bit too guilty... so we went with the pork instead.
But this isn't just any pork—it's YBD Pork, a ultra-premium crossbreed (Yorkshire, Berkshire, Duroc) that accounts for only 0.3% of all pork in Korea. It was incredibly juicy, tender, and hit the spot perfectly.

🦀 Marinated Raw Crab (Yangnyeom-gejang) & Sides
The complimentary side dishes here are next-level. The spicy marinated raw crab (sourced from Yeonpyeong Island) was so plump and meaty that I almost ordered a bowl of white rice before the beef even arrived!
🍚 Savory Doenjang-jjigae to Finish
We wrapped up the meal with a rich, comforting soybean paste stew. It completely cleansed the palate, making us feel like we could start the whole meal all over again. The quality of their sides and soups is truly exceptional.

⭐ Final Verdict & Who It's For
Highly Recommended For:
Anyone looking to experience certified, top-tier 1++ No.9 Hanwoo near Samseong-dong or COEX.
Those seeking a refined, private setting for celebrations or business dinners.
Thanks to my generous friend, I had an incredible feast. This is hands-down one of the highest-quality Korean BBQ spots I've visited recently.
I'm definitely suggesting this spot for our next company dinner on the corporate card!
Although it is located near COEX, valet parking is available, making parking convenient. You can bring your car and use the restaurant without any parking problems.
It is not sold only as a course; you can choose and order individual cuts à la carte. It is priced per 150g, so you can select and enjoy only the cuts you want on that day.
The private rooms on the 2nd floor are great for company dinners or anniversaries. However, please note that a separate deposit is required when booking a room, so you should check this in advance.
