Wrapping up your Jeju trip? Discover Gongpyeongok in Nohyeong for a refreshing, authentic Pyeongyang Naengmyeon experience near the airport. Perfect for a light, solo meal before your flight.
On the day I was wrapping up my time on Jeju Island and preparing for my move,
After sending off all my belongings from my Jeju home,
and before heading to the airport for my flight,
I sought out one last meal on the island.
The place I chose was Gongpyeongok Jeju Main Branch, which I'm excited to share with you today.
Living in Jeju made me fall in love with buckwheat noodles! Haha.
Before I moved to Jeju Island, I wasn't particularly fond of buckwheat dishes.
However, spending time in Jeju, one of Korea's largest buckwheat producing regions,
I naturally came to appreciate the unique charm of pure buckwheat dishes and Pyeongyang Naengmyeon.
Next time I visit Jeju, I'm definitely going here.
While my ultimate favorite buckwheat noodle spot is still located in Moseulpo,
on this particular day, I needed a final meal close to the airport.
So, I opted for Gongpyeongok, a Jeju Nohyeong restaurant I had saved as a reliable alternative in Jeju City.
If you're looking for a clean, non-stimulating meal rather than the usual tourist favorites like black pork or braised hairtail,
and a place where you can comfortably dine alone, Gongpyeongok is definitely worth considering.

11 AM on a Weekday: Any Wait?
I visited Gongpyeongok around 11 AM on a weekday.
Even though it was still early, there were already quite a few customers inside.
Luckily, it wasn't busy enough for a wait, so we were able to get a table right away.
The restaurant felt bright and clean, and I appreciated the bar tables available for solo diners.
This makes it a great spot for locals working in Nohyeong-dong to grab a quick, solo lunch.
The food also tends to come out quickly, which is a huge plus during a busy lunch hour. It's definitely a solid choice for a Jeju Nohyeong restaurant!
My Honest Review of Gongpyeongok Jeju Nohyeong
Gongpyeongok Jeju Nohyeong Restaurant: Basic Side Dishes
On this visit, we ordered two bowls of Pure Buckwheat Pyeongyang Naengmyeon and two Gosari Mandu (bracken dumplings).
Pure Buckwheat Pyeongyang Naengmyeon
The Pyeongyang Naengmyeon broth was mild and not overly stimulating, with a well-balanced meat flavor and seasoning.
The subtle aroma of buckwheat that emerged with every chew of the noodles was delightful.
It maintained the characteristic clean flavor of Pyeongyang Naengmyeon without being bland, making it a relatively approachable taste even for first-timers.
My only minor disappointment was a slight bitterness from the radish garnish. The subtle buckwheat flavor of the noodles isn't very strong, and the radish unfortunately overshadowed it a bit.
Gosari Mandu (Bracken Dumplings)
This was a dish I was particularly looking forward to, especially since it uses Jeju-grown bracken fern.
The dumplings were quite generously filled, but to my palate, the seasoning and the unique aroma of the bracken were a bit milder than I expected.
While I appreciated the use of authentic Jeju ingredients, they didn't leave as strong an impression as the Pyeongyang Naengmyeon, which I'd definitely crave again.

If you prefer subtle, pure buckwheat dishes, a neat and tidy space, and a quick, comfortable meal over flashy or intense flavors, then this Jeju Nohyeong restaurant is definitely one to remember.
