Affordable Accommodation Near Gocheok Dome (고척돔) in Seoul (서울): A Review of Hotel Hyuso Guro (호텔 휴소 구로) with a Japanese Vibe
© Text and photos by Naver Travel Blogger Hyeoniz hyeoniz
You know how after watching a baseball game or a concert at Gocheok Dome, it often ends so late that going all the way home feels a bit tricky?
This time, I was also looking for an affordable place to stay near Gocheok Dome in Seoul, and I ended up staying at Hotel Hyuso Guro, which is close to Gaebong Station (개봉역).

Honestly, at first, I just needed a place to sleep for a night, so I prioritized location and price. But once I got there, I found the rooms to be cleaner than I expected, and I really loved the Japanese-inspired atmosphere. I'll share my honest review, covering everything from the self-check-in to the rooms, amenities, and even the free breakfast :)
1. Location of This Affordable Hotel Near Gocheok Dome, Seoul

Hotel Hyuso (호텔 휴소) is located about a 7-minute walk from Exit 1 of Gaebong Station (Line 1).
It's close to Gocheok Sky Dome (고척스카이돔), making it a great location for those looking for accommodation near Gocheok Dome for baseball games or concerts.
(Costco Gocheok Branch (코스트코 고척점) is also about a 20-minute walk away.)

However, there's one important thing to note!
On-site parking at the hotel is not available.
So, it's probably a better fit for those visiting Gocheok Dome by subway rather than by car.

From the exterior, the atmosphere was a bit different from a typical business hotel.
Stepping inside, I felt like I'd arrived at a quiet, Japanese-style accommodation with warm wood tones.

Check-in is a self-service, unmanned system using a kiosk on the first floor.
As a 'power I' introvert, I actually found it more convenient to check in directly without having to interact with staff, haha!

You can scan the QR code in the room to access information about the hotel, which was helpful for finding answers to any questions.
Just remember to bring your physical ID for check-in!
2. Hotel Hyuso Guro's Standard Room: A Japanese-Inspired Vibe

The Standard Room I stayed in wasn't large or lavish; it was more like a neat and tidy room thoughtfully equipped with everything essential.

With white bedding and light wood-toned furniture, the overall impression was calm and cozy.

Having a wireless charger right next to the bed was also
surprisingly convenient, haha.
On the TV, you could access OTT services like YouTube, Netflix, Coupang Play,
and more.
There were also two bottles of mineral water in the fridge.

It wasn't just an electric kettle sitting there;
they had a complete set with teacups and green tea,
which really matched the hotel's vibe.

The amenities were also more comprehensive than I expected.
In the bathroom, there was shampoo, conditioner, body wash,
and hand wash. When I opened the drawer, I found
disposable toothbrushes and toothpaste, cleansing foam, shaving foam,
a razor, cotton pads, cotton swabs, and even hair ties.
Everything was prepared.
There was also a hairdryer and a bathrobe.

If you're just staying for a quick overnight trip,
you wouldn't even need to pack much, as everything is provided.
This makes it especially convenient for those coming up to Seoul (서울)
for a concert or a baseball game.

The bathroom, just like the room,
was clean and clutter-free.

And another reason I felt it offered such great value for money
was the complimentary breakfast!
You could enjoy it at the free snack corner on the 1st floor
from 7 AM to 10 AM.

Toast, strawberry jam, peanut butter,
cereal, milk, and juice were all available,
and there was even a coffee machine.

While it wasn't a grand hotel buffet,
it was certainly enough to grab some toast and coffee in the morning
before starting your day's adventures.
Not having to buy breakfast separately
on top of the accommodation fee was a definite bonus! :)
3. Hotel Hyuso Guro (호텔 휴소 구로) - Lowest Price Booking Link

After staying here myself, I can say Hotel Hyuso is perfect for
anyone needing an overnight stay for an event at Gocheok Dome (고척돔),
those looking for a clean, budget-friendly accommodation near Gaebong Station (개봉역),
or business travelers requiring lodging in the Guro (구로) and Gwangmyeong (광명) areas.
It really seems to be a great fit for them.

It's certainly a pity that parking isn't available,
but if you use public transport,
from self check-in to clean rooms, thoughtful amenities, and free breakfast,
everything you need for your stay was quite well-equipped.

When I book a hotel, even for the same room,
I tend to compare how much the actual selling price differs
depending on the stay date
before making the payment.
