Discover Gobajin, a hidden gem just 5 minutes from Jeju Shinhwa World, serving perfectly pre-grilled Jeju black pork. Enjoy a relaxed meal with delicious food and great company!

When my family and I went on a trip, I thought we *had* to try Jeju Black Pork at least once, so we sought out Gobajin in Jeju!
It's just a 5-minute drive from Shinhwa World, so if you're looking for a great restaurant near Jeju Shinhwa World, this is a place I'd highly recommend.
Of course, the meat is delicious, but the big advantage is that the black pork is served already grilled, allowing you to have a calm conversation with your companions while you eat.

Gobajin is located just a 5-minute drive from Shinhwa World!
The route is straightforward, being a direct road.
Actually, I departed from Starville, and it was also relatively close, only a 12-minute drive from Starville.

Finally, we arrived at Jeju Gobajin!
They say Gobajin means 'hidden' in the Jeju dialect. You find it by winding through residential alleyways, and it truly looks like a secret house, so the name fits perfectly.

The parking space is just right for the restaurant's size! There's a parking lot directly in front of the restaurant.
Gobajin's Interior Ambiance

The restaurant interior was quite clean and tidy.
Since the meat is served already grilled, there's no need for griddles or exhaust systems like in typical BBQ restaurants, giving it the feel of a fusion restaurant rather than a traditional meat eatery.
We came as a family, but if you're a couple looking to enjoy meat while having a quiet conversation, this is the place I'd recommend!

Many recently opened BBQ restaurants also sell wine, and Gobajin is no exception.
Bottle prices range from ~$21 to ~$48, which isn't overly expensive, and they also sell by the glass, so keep that in mind!

They also have baby chairs, baskets for your belongings, and a coffee machine.
Grilled in an Earthenware Pot

The menu is delightfully simple: just Black Pork (Heukdwaeji).
You can add sausage, and there's chilled *yeolmu-guksu* (radish kimchi noodles) for dessert.
And get this: the cut is o-gyeopsal (five-layered pork belly)!

What's special about Gobajin is that they grill the meat for you directly,
and it even comes cooked in an earthenware pot.
This was a first for me, so I rushed over to film it! : )
Since it's cooked slowly,
it does take a little time for the meat to arrive.

The side dishes (banchan) are just the essentials, served in perfect portions,
Personally, I was a little sad there was no *pajeori* (spicy green onion salad),
but the lettuce salad was so delicious that I was completely satisfied.

Finally, the long-awaited Black Pork (Heukdwaeji)!
This is 4 servings (total 920g),
but if you consider a standard 180g serving, it's about 5 servings' worth, so the portion is more generous than it looks.

I noticed the meat had a reddish tint,
and I later found out it's a sign of fresh meat.
The meat itself was incredibly flavorful, too.
It had a slight smoky aroma, was incredibly juicy, and so tender.
I was quite hungry, so I ended up ordering more meat...
It was hands down the best Black Pork I've ever tasted.

Feeling a little bummed about the absence of *doenjang jjigae* (soybean paste stew), I ordered the
chilled *yeolmu-guksu* (radish kimchi noodles) for dessert, and it was surprisingly good.
Usually, after eating meat, I'm not a big fan of red, soupy dishes because they can feel a bit heavy,
but perhaps because the *yeolmu* (young radish kimchi) was so refreshing, I thoroughly enjoyed it! : )

There are so many Black Pork restaurants on Jeju Island,
but Gobajin in Jeju was personally the most delicious I've tried!
If you're looking for a great restaurant near Jeju Shinhwa World,
and a place that grills meat perfectly for you, I highly recommend Gobajin! : )
