🍴 Daechi-dong Restaurant Recommendation in Gangnam
Mirror Kalguksu is Recommended For:
✔︎Those looking for a great restaurant in Gangnam's Daechi-dong Eunma Complex Shopping Center
✔︎Anyone seeking a unique spot to visit in Gangnam's Daechi-dong
✔︎Fans of handmade Kalguksu or Sujebi (hand-torn pasta)

Have you ever heard of the Eunma Complex Shopping Center (은마종합상가) in Gangnam's Daechi-dong (대치동)? To be honest, I wasn't familiar with it until a friend, who's a true queen of research 👑, told me it was brimming with fantastic eateries. So, I had to check it out!
Initially, when people talk about the best Kalguksu (칼국수) in Eunma Complex, Sanwol Kalguksu (산월칼국수) often comes to mind as the top spot. But when I arrived around 2-3 PM, the line was incredibly long! I quickly gave up on that idea and headed to Mirror Kalguksu (미러칼국수), another highly-regarded Kalguksu restaurant in the complex.

Inside, the restaurant was packed with people, and there were numerous celebrity autographs on the walls, confirming that this was indeed another beloved Kalguksu spot within Eunma Complex. As expected for a popular eatery, there was a wait.
Even though I came to Mirror Kalguksu to avoid the long line at Sanwol Kalguksu, I still ended up waiting... but thankfully, the line here was shorter! While waiting, I noticed that in addition to the main dining area shown in the photos, there was also a separate, annex-like seating area. This surprisingly sped up the turnover, and I was seated within 30 minutes.
Mirror Kalguksu Menu

The menu at Mirror Kalguksu (미러칼국수) wasn't extensive, offering classic dishes like Kalguksu (칼국수), Sujebi (수제비), Mixed (섞어 - a combination of Kalguksu and Sujebi), Bibim Guksu (비빔국수), and Kongguksu (콩국수), which is a seasonal cold noodle dish. Since it's known as a Kalguksu specialist, I opted for the Mixed menu. Each dish costs ₩9,000 (~$7).
It's worth noting that they took our order while we were waiting in line. Payment is required upfront, not after the meal, so we paid before being seated and receiving our food. However, I found it a bit odd that we had to reconfirm our order when paying, despite having already placed it while queuing.
We ended up dining in the annex, which was nice because it wasn't as crowded. Just be aware that you might be seated at a large communal table with other diners!

On the table, you'll find tissues and a cutlery holder.

The napa cabbage kimchi (배추김치) served with the Kalguksu looked incredibly appetizing with its vibrant red color. Upon tasting it, I found it to be somewhere between fresh 'geotjeori' (겉절이) and more fermented, aged kimchi.
It was tasty, but not mind-blowingly delicious. If you need more, you can help yourself to refills from the self-service station next to the cashier.

And finally, our Kalguksu arrived! I had expected a bland, typical market-style noodle soup, but after one bite, I realized the broth was deliciously savory and well-seasoned. Those who enjoy bolder flavors will definitely be satisfied!
The sujebi (hand-torn pasta) pieces were on the thinner side, but not so thin that they were 'see-through,' which was perfectly fine.
However, if you prefer thicker sujebi, Sanwol Kalguksu (산월칼국수) might be more to your liking, as their sujebi seemed heartier than what Mirror Kalguksu offers.

✔︎ Review of Mirror Kalguksu at Eunma Complex, Daechi-dong, Gangnam
While I'm not usually a fan of waiting, the flavor here definitely justified the short queue! The savory, slightly salty broth was particularly to my taste, even more so than the noodles themselves.
