Wow, the weather lately has been absolutely crazy, hasn't it...?

On sweltering days like this, nothing beats diving into some cool water!

Today, I’m bringing you a review of "Gangchon Star Valley," famous for its amazing outdoor pool!

Here is my review of our stay in the Standard 4-Person room!

Gangchon Star Valley

1. Pension Exterior & Spacious Parking Lot

It's located not very far from Gangchon Station.

We set off from Chuncheon, but since Gangchon is just outside of Seoul,

you can get here in no time. The accessibility is absolutely top-notch!

The parking lot is also incredibly spacious, so even though there were

lots of guests, there were still plenty of open spots!

If you are renting a car for your trip or are a beginner driver,

you can park here with complete peace of mind 👍🏻

2. Standard 4-Person Room (Twin Beds🛏️)

Here is the Standard 4-Person Room we were assigned after checking in.

I was really impressed by how neat and tidy the kitchen area was.

With an induction stove, microwave, and a large fridge right inside,

plus a kitchen fully stocked with cooking utensils, it was super convenient

to whip up a second round of food after our BBQ!

All the cooking utensils were kept so clean that we felt totally safe using them.

(Though we did give them a quick rinse first... haha)

The living area was also spacious enough to unpack our bags comfortably,

and having a vanity table made getting ready the next morning so easy!

⭐️My absolute top priorities: bedding and the bathroom⭐️

To be honest, I didn't expect much from the bedroom, but it was so clean, crisp,

and well-maintained that I didn't even need to take out my disposable pillow covers.

(Yes, I'm that person who always travels with disposable pillow covers... haha)

The water pressure in the bathroom was fantastic, and it was absolutely spotless—

not a stray hair in sight! Often, you open a bathroom door and get hit with a musty, damp smell,

but the bathroom at Gangchon Star Valley wasn't damp at all.

It felt super well-ventilated, which made me so happy!

3. The Swimming Pool: Free for All Guests

9:30 AM to 8:00 PM

(Available from 3:00 PM on your check-in day)

※ After closing, disinfectants and coagulants are added

to manage water quality and prepare for the next day's cleaning, so please make sure to follow the operating hours!

(Trespassing after hours will result in immediate eviction + claims for damages... yikes!)

We quickly unpacked and headed straight for the pool, which we were looking forward to the most! =3 =3 =3

The absolute highlight of Gangchon Star Valley is this massive

outdoor swimming pool! 🐳

They say it's natural bedrock water pumped from 150 meters underground.

Maybe that's why it felt instantly, brain-freezingly refreshing the moment we stepped in! Hahaha.

Floating in the water during this sweltering weather

felt like absolute paradise! ╰(*°▽°*)╯

The Gangchon Star Valley outdoor pool is divided into

an adult pool and a kids' pool.

The adult pool comes up to about waist-to-hip height,

while the kids' pool is calf-deep!

Since it's such an incredibly budget-friendly pool resort, booking competition

gets pretty fierce as the peak season approaches.

4. The Pension Convenience Store

Now that your booking is all set, let’s continue our tour around the pension! 🌲

Gangchon Star Valley actually has its own convenience store on-site.

🕖 Management Office & Store Hours

(Sun–Thu) 9:00 AM – 8:00 PM

(Fri–Sat) 9:00 AM – 9:00 PM

Since Gangchon Star Valley is a bit hard to get around without a car,

this store is an absolute lifesaver if you forgot to pack anything!

They have bottled water and alcohol (of course!), disposable tableware, wet wipes,

ramen, snacks, and even ice cream! 😮

5. Private BBQ Area 🍖

The ultimate way to wrap up any pension trip is, of course, a private BBQ! 🤤🍖

BBQ Grill Rental (Available until 8:00 PM)

2 people: ~$13, 3–4 people: ~$19

Extra ~$3 per additional person (for 5+ people)

Without having to go to a communal BBQ zone,

being able to have a private BBQ right by your room

was definitely the best part!

It was so nice and cozy to grill meat just with our own group.

Sipping a cold Somaek (beer-soju mix) with smoky, charcoal-grilled meat...

all my stress just melted right away! 🍻

6. Pick-up Service & Wrap-up

Lastly, Gangchon Star Valley offers a pick-up and drop-off service!

Check-in: Gangchon Station → Pension (3:00 PM – 6:00 PM)

Check-out: Pension → Gangchon Station (9:30 AM – 11:00 AM)
