Fujisan Dunsan-dong Daejeon: Private Dining for Family Gatherings

During the recent long holiday, I visited Fujisan in Dunsan-dong and had their

Sashimi Full Course B. It was so generous and delicious that everyone in my party was extremely satisfied,

so I highly recommend it as a restaurant for Parents' Day in Daejeon :)

I made a reservation by phone in advance and visited,

and they guided me to a private room.

The table was already set, ready for us to eat.

It's a private room restaurant where you can talk quietly,

perfect for gatherings where lots of conversation flows,

which was exactly what we needed for our long-overdue get-together.

Plus, there's space to stretch your legs underneath,

so even elderly guests who find traditional floor seating uncomfortable

can sit and enjoy their meal comfortably!

I booked the Sashimi Full Course B,

which includes 5 seasonal assorted sashimi types,

seafood hot plate or steamed seafood,

and over 20 kinds of side dishes.

With such a diverse array of dishes, there's something to please everyone's palate,

making it perfect for family gatherings!

For appetizers, we had rolled omelet (gyeran-mari), salmon salad, and jellyfish salad (haepari-naengchae),

which really whetted our appetites.

Soon after, abalone porridge and mul-kimchi (radish water kimchi) were served.

Even though it was just regular mul-kimchi,

seeing it served in an Ilpum Jinro glass

felt unique and delightful.

A variety of salads and side dishes, fresh raw octopus (saengnakji), and

mulhoe (chilled raw fish soup) that was perfect for the suddenly warmer weather!

Everything was incredibly fresh and delicious! 😍

The main event, the seasonal assorted sashimi,

featured tuna, sea bream, flatfish, rockfish, and salmon.

For the tuna, you absolutely can't miss the gim (seaweed) and gireumjang (sesame oil dipping sauce).

Just ask, and they'll bring it right over, so definitely make sure to enjoy them together!

My friend, who just recently opened their eyes to the wonders of seafood,

said the tuna they tried for the very first time at Fujisan was absolutely delicious, which made me so proud! Haha.

They served the sashimi in thick cuts,

which really amplified that delightful, chewy texture – I absolutely loved it!

Anyone who loves sashimi would undeniably appreciate this, I bet!

Next up were flatfish and shrimp sushi, grilled sea bream head,

and then agujjim (spicy braised monkfish) and haemuljjim (spicy braised seafood).

I, for one, found the grilled sea bream head exceptionally delicious!

The chewy texture paired with the crispy skin was such a unique delight, wouldn't you agree?!

Even for a grilled head, there was surprisingly a good amount of succulent meat inside.

The spicy-sweet and incredibly tasty agujjim (braised monkfish),

had plump, firm flesh that made the texture absolutely fantastic!

As for the haemuljjim (spicy braised seafood), it featured abalone, scallops, and squid mantle,

all gently steamed to ensure a tender texture, not tough at all,

allowing us to savor the natural flavors of the ingredients.

wasn't over yet!

There was truly no moment for my chopsticks to rest..! 🤤

Though it might not be for everyone, it has a strong cult following:

Hongeosamhap, the unique fermented skate combo, also made an appearance!

After taking just one bite, the distinct taste of properly fermented hongeo (skate)

felt like a pungent punch to the nose 🥵

But it was one of those tastes where you just *get* why people eat it. Haha!

With a spicy freshwater shrimp stew and crispy fried shrimp,

we finished strong and satisfied until the very end 😎

For lunch, they even serve albap (fish roe rice bowl) like this

as a complimentary service – talk about ultimate generosity! 🥹

Fujisan, a private room restaurant in Dunsan-dong,

is located near City Hall Station, making it easily accessible.

I visited by car, and the attendant provided valet parking, which was incredibly convenient!

For family gatherings, particularly with parents,

while the taste of the food is important, the service is truly paramount, isn't it?

In a long-awaited get-together,

You've probably had an experience that didn't quite hit the mark, right?

But at Dunsan-dong Fuji-san,

both the owner and the staff were so incredibly kind and attentive that

I felt wonderful throughout the entire meal,

like I was truly being pampered! 😍

If our dishes looked like they were running low, they'd ask and promptly refill them,

and empty plates were cleared right away.

This meant we could just relax and enjoy our meal without a worry, which is why

I truly recommend it as a fantastic restaurant for Parents' Day in Daejeon!
