Looking for the perfect private dining spot in Daejeon? Fujisan in Dunsan-dong offers incredible sashimi courses and comfortable sunken-floor seating.

May is the month of family celebrations here in Korea,
and I bet many of you are searching for a quiet private dining room for a family gathering, right?
It's actually much harder than you'd think to find a private room restaurant
that checks all the boxes for taste, portion size, and great service 🥲

During this past golden holiday, I visited Fujisan in Dunsan-dong
and tried their Sashimi Course B.
It was so incredibly generous and delicious that everyone in my group was absolutely thrilled.
I highly recommend it as a perfect spot for Parents' Day or family gatherings in Daejeon! :)

I made a reservation over the phone beforehand,
and when they guided us to our private room,
the table was already beautifully set up and ready to go.

Since it's a private room restaurant where you can talk quietly,
it was absolutely perfect for our long-awaited gathering
where we had so much catching up to do.

Plus, there's a recessed space under the table to stretch your legs,
meaning even older family members who struggle with traditional floor seating
can sit and dine in complete comfort!

I booked the Sashimi Course B,
which features 5 varieties of seasonal assorted sashimi,
grilled seafood on a hot plate or steamed seafood,
and about 20 different side dishes.
With such a diverse lineup, there's something to please everyone's palate,
making it the ideal spot for a family dinner!

For starters, rolled omelet, salmon salad, and jellyfish cold salad
were served to beautifully awaken our appetite.

Soon after, savory abalone porridge was served alongside refreshing water kimchi.
Even though it was a simple water kimchi,
seeing it served in an Ilpoom Jinro glass
felt uniquely fancy and instantly put us in a great mood.

We had a variety of salads, side dishes, fresh live octopus,
and even a cold raw fish soup (mulhoe) that was absolutely perfect for the sudden warm weather!

Everything was incredibly fresh and delicious 😍

The main star, the seasonal assorted sashimi,
consisted of tuna, sea bream, flatfish, rockfish, and salmon.
Don't forget that you can ask for seaweed sheets and sesame oil with salt—essential pairings for the tuna—
so make sure to request them and enjoy the perfect bite!

Even my friend, who only recently opened their eyes to the wonders of seafood,
tried the tuna here at Fujisan for the first time and
declared it absolutely delicious. I felt so proud! haha

The sashimi was sliced so thick and generous,
which made the wonderfully chewy texture twice as satisfying.
Any true sashimi lover would 100% approve of this!

Next up was flatfish and shrimp sushi, grilled sea bream head,
along with spicy braised monkfish (Agujjim) and steamed seafood!

I personally fell in love with the grilled sea bream head.
The combination of the chewy meat and crispy skin was an absolute delicacy!
Even though it was just the head, there was surprisingly a lot of meat hidden inside.

The braised monkfish was wonderfully sweet and spicy,
and the fish was so plump and meaty that the texture was incredible.

The steamed seafood platter featured abalone, scallops, and scallops adductor muscle,
all steamed to tender perfection without being chewy at all,
allowing us to fully savor the natural flavors of the fresh ingredients.

The Sashimi Course B at Fujisan in Dunsan-dong...
is far from over!
Seriously, your chopsticks won't get a single moment of rest! 🤤

We were also served fermented skate (Hongeo-samhap)—
a dish that definitely divides opinions but has an incredibly loyal fanbase.

Taking a bite of the perfectly fermented skate,
felt like a literal punch to the sinuses! 🥵
But strangely, I completely understood why people get so hooked on it, haha.

We wrapped things up on a satisfyingly full note
with a spicy freshwater shrimp soup and crispy shrimp tempura. 😎

During lunch, they even serve a complimentary fish roe rice bowl (Albap),
which is the absolute pinnacle of generosity. 🥹

Fujisan, the private room restaurant in Dunsan-dong,
is super easy to get to since it's located near City Hall Station.
I visited by car,
and the valet attendant made parking so effortless and convenient!

When it comes to family gatherings—especially when you're taking your parents out—
the service is just as important as the food, right?
We've probably all had that disappointing experience of a ruined mood
at a long-awaited family get-together.

But at Fujisan in Dunsan-dong,
the owner and the staff were so incredibly warm and welcoming.
It put us in such a great mood throughout the entire meal,
making us feel truly pampered. 😍

They noticed whenever we were running low on something and offered refills,
and cleared away the empty plates so quickly,
so all we had to do was just sit back and enjoy the food...
I highly recommend this place as a Parent's Day dining spot in Daejeon!

If your schedules don't align and you can't make it to a meal together,
they also sell Fujisan gift certificates,
so it would be such a thoughtful gesture to gift them one
for a lovely date night out! :)
