I've tried Pyongyang-style cold noodles at other spots, but either the noodle texture felt off or the broth didn't hit the spot. For me, Eulmildae is the gold standard.
As always, I ordered the classic Mul-Naengmyeon (cold noodle soup). Since there were four of us today, we also ordered two crispy Nokdujeon (mung bean pancakes) and a plate of Suyuk (boiled beef slices)!
If you come with just two people, ordering the beef slices on top of noodles and pancakes is definitely overkill. But skipping the mung bean pancake? That's a culinary sin!

The ultra-crispy mung bean pancake is absolutely mandatory.
Pro-tip: make sure you visit on an empty stomach so you can drink every last drop of the savory broth and still have room for the pancake!

Look at that gorgeous bowl of Mul-Naengmyeon.
It's a masterclass in simplicity, crafted with so much care.
The beef slices served right inside the noodle bowl are incredibly tender. I like to save them for the very last bite!

My ritual is simple: broth first.
Take a deep, ice-cold gulp of that savory soup,
follow it with a bite of the crispy pancake, and then dive into the chewy buckwheat noodles.
The moment the noodles hit your mouth and you wash them down with the broth, you'll understand why this place is legendary.

Today, we decided to splurge on the Suyuk (boiled beef slices).
Ordering the Small Beef Suyuk
We were just too curious not to try it! 🫶🏻✨
Large Beef Suyuk ▶ ~$45
Small Beef Suyuk ▶ ~$22

To be honest, the beef suyuk at Eulmildae isn't cheap.
It's more of an occasional splurge.
Honestly? You don't absolutely need it. The beef slices included in your noodle bowl are already quite satisfying!

But hey, curiosity got the best of us! When else would we try it?
It's a massive portion for two, and if you order it, your total bill can easily top ~$64 before you know it!

Taste-wise, it was decent but not life-changing—just standard, tender boiled beef.
I wouldn't go out of my way to order it again. The cold noodles are still the absolute star of the show!

That being said, if you're a meat lover, dipping these slices in the savory sauce is still a treat.

We practically licked the plate clean! haha
Looking at these photos makes me want to head back right now.
They say autumn is here, but why is it still so hot? Cold noodles are definitely the cure!

Some hardcore foodies like to grind whole black pepper into the broth, but that wasn't really my style. Keep it clean!
We arrived after 7:00 PM on a weekday, bypassed the queue entirely, and had an incredible meal! : )

The large suyuk is ~$45, and the small is ~$22. The author noted that the cold noodles (naengmyeon) already contain plenty of meat, so there is no need to order suyuk separately.
If you visit after 7:00 PM, you can dine without waiting. The author also visited around this time and enjoyed a pleasant meal without having to wait.
The author highly recommends the crispy mung bean pancake (nokdujeon) as an absolute must-have, not just an option. It is recommended to visit when hungry and enjoy it alongside the naengmyeon broth.
The Eulmildae Mapo Main Branch is located at 24 Sungmun-gil, Mapo-gu, Seoul. Detailed information about parking can be found in the author's previous post.
