Hey there, fellow foodies and travel enthusiasts!
Your travel blogger, Ogurung, here.
Do you ever get that sudden craving for a crispy pork cutlet, drenched in a classic Korean-style sauce, accompanied by a warm bowl of cream soup?
I certainly did when I was out looking for a bite near Nowon Station. The craving hit hard, so I popped into Embro Donkatsu, a popular spot in the area.
After trying it myself, I can confidently say the portions are generous, and the atmosphere is super welcoming, even if you’re dining alone. If you’re searching for a great spot for solo dining in Nowon, this place should definitely be on your radar!

Embro Donkatsu's Nowon branch is conveniently located between Nowon Station Exits 1 and 2, right at the beginning of Nowon Culture Street. It’s just a two-minute walk from Nowon Station, so you won’t have any trouble finding it!
This Korean-style donkatsu restaurant in Nowon offers familiar dishes at very reasonable prices, making it a perfect choice for both lunch and dinner.
02. Inside the Restaurant & Parking Details

The interior of the restaurant is generally clean and well-maintained.
With plenty of tables and even dedicated seating for solo diners, it’s a comfortable spot whether you’re eating alone, with friends, or with family.

I often have this preconceived notion that Korean-style donkatsu places might feel a bit retro, but Embro Donkatsu surprised me with its clean, modern vibe and convenient tablet ordering system!

Unfortunately, parking is not provided by the restaurant. There isn't a dedicated parking lot for the building, so you’ll need to use the paid parking at the nearby Hwarang Building. (Honestly, it's so close to Nowon Station, public transport is definitely your best bet!)
03. Embro Donkatsu Menu: What We Ordered

On this visit, I ordered the Embro Donkatsu + Mini Jjolmyeon Set, the Embro King Donkatsu, and a separate Jjolmyeon. (Note: specific prices for individual items are not listed, but the restaurant is known for its excellent value!)
I figured just donkatsu wouldn't be enough, so I added jjolmyeon – and what a fantastic combination it was!

Each donkatsu order comes with a side of cream soup, and you can enjoy unlimited refills of pickled radish, kimchi, and cabbage salad at the self-service bar.
Just a heads-up: black rice and soup refills need to be requested from staff via the tablet. It’s super convenient to order what you need without having to flag anyone down!
04. Honest Review: Incredible Value for Money!

The first thing that caught my eye when the food arrived was the generous portion of donkatsu.

It feels like Japanese-style tonkatsu restaurants are everywhere these days, so I was genuinely happy to see this classic Korean-style donkatsu served with cream soup. It brought back some nostalgic vibes!

The regular Embro Donkatsu was already quite large, but the King Donkatsu came with two massive cutlets! When I first saw it, I honestly wondered if I could finish it all.

The cutlets themselves weren’t thin, and with the sweet and savory donkatsu sauce, the rice just kept disappearing. It was so good!
The King Donkatsu truly lives up to its name with its generous portion, so I couldn't finish it all and ended up packing the rest to go. No complaints there!

You certainly won't need to worry about not getting enough for a meal here. Considering you get two cutlets with the King Donkatsu, the value for money is truly exceptional.

The owner's thoughtful touch when packing up my leftovers also left a lasting impression. They added extra sauce to my leftover donkatsu – such a small detail, but it really showed how much they care about their customers. I was genuinely touched!

And the jjolmyeon? Its sweet and sour sauce is absolutely addictive. When paired with the donkatsu, which can sometimes be a bit rich, the spicy jjolmyeon creates that irresistible combo everyone loves. It's truly outstanding!
