Seoul's Dongmyo Flea Market & Changsin-dong Toy Street
Location, Must-Try Foods, and Parking Tips

If you're searching for a unique weekend outing in Seoul,
Dongmyo Market is absolutely unbeatable.
Dongmyo Flea Market offers a fantastic blend of
retro vibes and incredible value, making it a hotspot
for more and more visitors these days. Right across the street,
Changsin-dong's trendy squishy toys, Malang-i and Wakppubol, are also a huge hit!
I've enjoyed it so much that I've been twice! On my first visit, I felt a bit overwhelmed trying to figure out where to start. But as I wandered, I naturally discovered a perfect route for food and shopping.
In this post,
based on my own experiences,
I've put together a guide covering everything from the best way to explore Dongmyo Market,
tips for vintage shopping, and over a dozen must-try street foods and shops
that you can enjoy for just a few dollars, complete with price information.

My Takeaway
On my first visit, it was hard to see everything. But by the second time, I started noticing new shops, hidden gems, and really got a feel for the layout.
If you're planning just one visit for fun,
it might be a good idea to research which restaurants or snacks you want to try beforehand.
After all, there's only so much you can eat in one trip! ^^*

On weekends, both Dongmyo Market and Changsin-dong Toy Street (also known as Stationery Street) get incredibly crowded.
It's quite common to find lines just to enter some shops!
If you're planning a weekend visit, I recommend going early in the morning, or better yet, try to visit on a weekday.

A quick photo tour of the market!
What comes to mind when you think of 'Dongmyo Market'?

At Jinmyeong Company in Seoul's Dongmyo Flea Market,
you'll find a treasure trove of cameras, Walkmans, CD players,
cassette tapes, camcorders, and more.
While you can find many items on the street,
there were also a couple of specialized camera shops.
For photography enthusiasts, dedicating a day to this Seoul date spot
could mean scoring a fantastic digital camera or camcorder!

While I desperately wanted to find a gem at Dongmyo Flea Market, I didn't end up buying any clothes. Some of the decent-looking pieces were a bit pricey, and honestly, I don't have a keen eye for distinguishing genuine vintage from fakes! ^^;

A Seoul date where you pick out clothes for each other could be a fun idea!

My favorite finds were the bookstores!
I managed to snag three books at a great price!
Perhaps one of the reasons Dongmyo Market is so popular in Seoul these days
is because you can really dig for a variety of unique interests, right?
Don't miss buying books at Cheonggyecheon Bookstore!

There's also Yeonggwang Bookstore, and another bookstore right next to Cheonggyecheon Bookstore.
In my experience, Cheonggyecheon Bookstore had a wider variety of genres,
and when I bought several books, they even gave me a small discount!

But as you can see in the right photo, there are also items like
used cosmetics and toothpaste-like products... I'm not quite sure if they're new, used, or what they even are!

Oh, and you might even spot people offering street-side massages! ^^
Dongmyo Market Eats
Dongmyo Flea Market is also packed with great restaurants and street food, making it a perfect spot for a meal or a fun date while you explore.

While you'll find plenty of instant coffee for ~$0,
if you're craving a real iced Americano and a clean cafe experience,
definitely check out #Dongmyo-eui.
Americano ~$1
You can also use the restroom on the 2nd floor while enjoying your coffee!

Dongmyo Market Gwangju Restaurant Weekend Waiting Review, Seoul Must-Visit Restaurants
I usually don't care for fish stews, but this place was so famous I waited in line, and it was truly amazing! The tofu was delicious, and the fish fillets were plump and flavorful.

Seoul's Dongmyo Market is also famous for its chicken shops,
especially Korean Fried Chicken (Sungin-dong Main Branch).
Prices start from ~$4!
You'll also find savory pancakes (Pajeon) on the street,
and if you look closely in the corners, fish cakes (Eomuk) for just ~$0!
Fried meat (Gogi Twigim) is also popular,
starting from ~$3.
With so many food options, you can't try them all, so planning ahead is a good idea.
After Dongmyo, you could take a stroll along Cheonggyecheon Stream,
or head across the street to Changsin-dong Toy Street.
It's a good idea to decide your route beforehand!

Changsin-dong Stationery Street (also known as Changsin-dong Toy Street) was so incredibly crowded that I ended up escaping after a brief look.
These days, Malang-i and Wakppubol (popular squishy toys) are all the rage,
but the area where people were picking out Malang-i was so packed with people squatting down and touching them all,
it was nearly impossible to shop! 😇

Although I couldn't get a Malang-i myself, I hope you all manage to snag one (or a Wakppubol)! There were just too many toys for me to choose from.
Dongmyo Market offers so many fun things to do in Seoul. I definitely want to go again and find some cool stuff this time!
