After parking on the 3rd floor, we took the elevator straight down to the 1st floor. The market is incredibly easy to navigate, with clear signs directing you to the different sections, including a bustling food court area.

As soon as you step into the main market alley, you will be greeted by traditional Korean cake shops selling Jeju’s legendary specialty: Omegitteok. These are delicious mugwort rice cakes coated in red beans or seeds. If you want to ship some to friends, the local government even offers shipping discounts to make it easier for travelers!

You will also find plenty of stalls selling local Jeju specialties, including freshly squeezed Cheonhyehyang (Jeju citrus) juice and unique local snacks.
If you wander deeper, you will run into historic local snack bars like Seoul Bunsik and Sarang Bunsik. These legendary spots are famous for serving Modakchigi—a delicious, comforting platter where kimbap, tteokbokki (spicy rice cakes), and crispy tempura are mixed together in one savory sauce.
Another must-try item is the fresh Ddaksaewoo (red-banded lobster) sashimi. While locals love eating these boiled, seeing them freshly prepped and raw makes you wonder about their naturally sweet flavor!
The Night Market Experience: Gate 8

As you walk towards Gate 8, the volume turns up. The loudest, most energetic, and crowded corner of the market is where the official Night Market comes alive. Visiting on a Sunday evening in 2026, the crowds were manageable, but on peak Friday and Saturday nights, it gets so packed you can barely squeeze through!
The energy here is infectious. Vendors blast music, dance, chant, and put on spectacular fire shows right in front of roaring grills. It’s impossible not to admire how hard they work in front of the intense heat.

The absolute longest line in the night market belongs to the grilled lobster stall. We stood there mesmerized by the dramatic blowtorch fire show!

Be prepared to wait about 10 minutes at this popular spot, but the show alone is worth the wait.

Beyond lobster, the culinary lineup is incredible: savory Jeju abalone kimbap, sweet-and-sour squid chicken (dakgangjeong), and sizzling skewers.

You will also find grilled butter scallops, crispy tornado potatoes, giant black pork rolls, and pan-fried dumplings. Most of these mouthwatering street eats are priced very reasonably around ~$6 to ~$7 per dish.

While walking around, we spotted the famous dumpling stall featured on Korean TV! The main vendor looks incredibly like the world-famous Korean soccer star, Son Heung-min. He is tall, high-energy, and even has signed jerseys from real soccer stars hanging behind the stall.

Even if you arrive with a full stomach, just walking through the market and soaking in the lively atmosphere, smoky aromas, and colorful displays is incredibly fun.

Make sure to save room for dessert! The sweet hotteok (pancakes) filled with famous Udo Island peanuts are a crispy, nutty delight.

From handmade black pork vol-katsu and cold craft drinks to sweet tanghulu, the variety of flavors here is endlessly charming. For a true taste of local life, make sure to add Dongmun Night Market to your 2026 Jeju itinerary!
