After work, my husband and I headed to Hongdae for a date night.
Since we didn't want to just grab dinner and go home,
we decided to challenge ourselves with an escape room!
We had already booked a slot at Deep Thinker, a super popular escape room cafe in Hongdae.
We played the theme "Ongi's Dream,"
and it was honestly so much fun!
Even on our way back home afterwards,
my husband and I couldn't stop talking about how cool the storyline was.

right on the 4th floor.

There's an elevator,
which made it super easy and convenient to head up!
It's only about a 5-minute walk from Hapjeong Station, Exit 3!
Even though it's known as a Hongdae escape room, if you're taking public transit,
I highly recommend getting off at Hapjeong Station rather than Hongdae Univ. Station!
They are open from 10:00 AM
until 11:30 PM,
and you can easily book your slot on their official website.

This theme involves a fair amount of movement,
and you'll swap your shoes for indoor slippers before entering!
Comfortable clothing is recommended,
but they even provide comfortable pants if you need a pair!
So we definitely recommend pants over skirts!
Slippers are neatly arranged
by size, so you can just grab a pair
that fits you perfectly and head on in!
One of the biggest highlights of Deep Thinker
is that they offer full English support.
The story prompts and clues in the theme
are provided in both Korean and English,
making it the perfect place to experience
Korea's amazing escape room culture with your global friends!
If you want to introduce escape rooms
to friends visiting Korea for the first time, this is the ultimate spot.
You get to fully experience the incredibly immersive Korean escape room style,
and doing it all without any language barrier

"Ongi's Dream" – A Cute, Whimsical, and Zero-Fear Theme!
The theme we played at Deep Thinker is called "Ongi's Dream."
It's a super cute and charmingly designed theme,
and with absolutely zero horror elements,
even those who easily get spooked can comfortably enjoy the puzzles!
While 2 to 5 people can play together,
I think 2 players is the absolute sweet spot!
The play time is 65 minutes.
Since they run on a tight, continuous schedule,
please don't be late..!
I think they don't let you wait inside
to avoid any potential spoilers
for players currently in the rooms!
I highly recommend arriving
exactly 10 minutes before your booked time!
There were more rooms than expected—
about 6 to 7 rooms in total—
and the set design of each room was incredibly detailed and immersive.
The official difficulty is 3.5 stars,
and it definitely felt like that in reality!
It's not overly difficult,
so it's the perfect level to enjoy while solving.
After escaping, you can get
a cute Ongi magnet by participating in a review event.
You can also buy badges as souvenirs!

and a restroom inside,
so it's very convenient to wash your hands

The storyline is so well-crafted
that it didn't just feel like solving puzzles;
it really felt like stepping into a storybook.
Even after escaping,
my husband and I kept talking about
how great the plot was and how much fun we had.
Once you escape, you can decorate your very own celebration board,
and put on some adorable cat ears and paws
to take the perfect proof-of-escape photos!
It's such a fun way to capture the memories.
