Searching for the perfect sweet treat in Jeonju? Dalldang in Hanok Village offers exquisite, freshly made fruit mochi that's a true local delight. Forget the lines, taste the freshness!

I'm going, I'm going〰️
I'm off to Jeonju for a trip〰️
Whenever I go to Seoul Station or Seongsu,
I see these incredibly long lines at Hanjungseon,
and I just can't quite grasp it...
It's not that it tastes bad, but honestly,
to wait that long and pay that price for *that*?
That's just how I feel.
And the one in Dubai truly wasn't good....
Anyway, after my Hanjungseon experience,
I've become an even bigger fan of local fruit mochi!
If Pyeonghwadong has its Objet Gallery,
then Hanok Village has Daldang‼️

Daldang is a dessert takeaway specialist
located right in Jeonju Hanok Village.

They sell fresh fruit chapssaltteok (mochi) made daily,
right here in the village.

Since it's a takeaway specialist,
the space is a bit compact.
They even have model samples showing the cross-section of the mochi,

Delicious Strawberry
Persimmon (Hongsi) – Selling Fast!
How about a Tangy Tangerine?
Shine Muscat Grape
Pineapple
and Kiwi!
They offer a total of 6 types of fruit mochi here.
The packaging is also similar to Hanjungseon,
but it looks like it's been on display all summer,
as the hanji paper has faded,, ^^;
Daldang Fruit Mochi Types & Prices

Strawberry, Whole Tangerine, Shine Muscat,
Gold Kiwi, Pineapple, Persimmon (Hongsi)
These 6 varieties of fruit mochi are priced between
~$3-~$3 (Persimmon Only is ~$3)
If you buy 4 or 6 pieces, they'll be box-packaged,
and buying 6 pieces even gets you a free cooler bag!
For optimal freshness,
it's recommended to eat them on the day of purchase.
If refrigerated, they're good until the next day. (O)
(After all, with fresh fruit inside the mochi,
it's probably best to enjoy them fresh and quickly, right?)
Still, Hanjungseon is considered a major player in fruit mochi,
so I discreetly did a price comparison:
There, Gold Kiwi is ~$3,
Persimmon and Strawberry are ~$3,
and Whole Tangerine and Pineapple are ~$3.
(Of course, they have a wider variety of options.)

The Persimmon Chapssaltteok is made with sweet and soft-juicy,
semi-dried persimmons from Cheongdo.
The Strawberry Chapssaltteok uses fresh, farm-direct, sweet-and-sour strawberries.
(During summer, it contains 1-3 small strawberries, a seasonal special!)
The Pineapple Chapssaltteok offers a burst of refreshing tartness
that fills your mouth – simply irresistible!
And the Whole Tangerine Chapssaltteok is made with a single, entire tangerine,
bursting with tangy juice in every bite.
It would have been wonderful if they had fig mochi too...

Unfortunately, the Chal-tteok Ice Cream is no longer available.
Initially, I planned to buy Strawberry, Whole Tangerine, Pineapple, and Gold Kiwi.
However, I heard that the Persimmon Chapssaltteok was featured as a must-try snack spot on "Amazing Saturday" (Nolto),
so I quickly switched my choice to the Persimmon!
And it turned out to be the most delicious.
ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ

That was Daldang's signboard, shaped like dango!

Review of Dalddang Fruit Mochi

Ended up matching the background color by chance!

I bought a set of 4,
and they packed it neatly in a box,
even placing an ice pack at the bottom.
The simple but hat-wearing
cute character is quite impressive!

These are bigger than they look,
and quite substantial!
I was surprised how heavy the 4 mochi pieces were,
it really caught me off guard!

LOL, I couldn't resist the temptation...
had to do some street mochi eating!
The sticky rice flour on my mouth? That's a bonus〰️!
They even gave me a knife and skewers for eating, but...
I ignored all those tools
and just used my hands and mouth!
I gave the pineapple one to my sister on her way home,
and shared the tangerine and gold kiwi ones.
Inside the chewy mochi,
there was a delicious white bean paste filling, which I loved!
Seolgi (steamed rice cake) is popular these days, but
I'm not so sure about seolgi...
I'm definitely on Team Mochi!
For other travelers to Jeonju,
if you're curious about
other cafes or restaurants worth visiting?
Here are a few places
within walking distance from Hanok Village that I recommend!
1. Hanok Village Cafe 1938
A milk tea hotspot that even has a cute dog!
2. Cafe Bimi (비미), a dessert spot
that came all the way from Gwangju!
3. Baeksong Hoegwan (백송회관), a spot that gives you beef sashimi when you order bibimbap!
4. Hasookyung Gamasot Bibimbap (하숙영가마솥비빔밥), a famous spot for Jeonju bibimbap with a wait,
where the owner's dazzling bibim (mixing) technique is impressive.
(Personally, out of all the bibimbap restaurants in Jeonju,
this is the one I've visited the most!)
Refilling banchan (side dishes) is a must! 💜
Alright, so
,, you're wondering if there are any actual tourist spots in Jeonju?
Well, since I'm pretty much the 'food tour guide' here,
My answer is: Nope! Hehe.
Because, let's be real, the best memories from a trip are often the food ones!
music is my life
Spaces where you can truly savor music
Haegeol and Gaeksagolbang
