Daga Traveler's Library Jeonju Review 2026: Hidden Book Oasis

Planning a trip to Jeonju?

While Jeonju is famous as the city of bibimbap,

it is also a vibrant city of books!

"Jeonju, the City of Books Where Books Become Life."

Under this inspiring vision, the city of Jeonju

launched Korea’s very first "Library Tour" program

back in July 2021.

It has captured the hearts of not only Jeonju locals

but also travelers, making it

one of the city's most iconic cultural and tourism

experiences.

In 2025 alone, a whopping 2,538 people joined the Library Tour.

In a satisfaction survey conducted for the travelers,

it scored an incredible 96.8 out of 100!

That's some serious traveler love right there.

My latest stop on this tour was

the beautiful Daga Traveler's Library!

Located right in the Chinatown / Weridan-gil area.

Aside from the Daga Traveler's Library,

there are brand new spaces like

Wansan Library and Ajung Lake Library,

the Cheonmajung-gil Traveler's Library

located right outside Jeonju Station,

Haksan Forest Poetry Library,

Hanok Village Library,

Seohak Art Village Library,

and Yeonhwajeong Library.

There are 16 unique libraries in total, each offering

its own distinct vibe and curation.

Honestly, this makes me want to do a month-long stay in Jeonju!

Plus, with all the charming independent bookstores around,

you can fully immerse yourself in Jeonju's elegant,

literary heritage (like a modern-day scholar!).

Having "Arrivals" and "Departures" signs

gives it such a fun traveler vibe.

I couldn't help but think how perfect

this place would be for international travelers!

Don't just eat street food skewers in Hanok Village—

make sure to soak in some local culture too!

Spanning from the basement all the way up to the 3rd floor,

the space at

Daga Traveler's Library is incredibly well-designed.

Looking at it from the outside,

it has such a trendy vibe that you might mistake it

for an independent bookstore or a cute indie gift shop.

As soon as you step inside, you're greeted by

a beautiful David Hockney art book.

Seriously, is this not a cafe?

The atmosphere makes you want to order an iced Americano and dive into a book immediately.

1F, Dagao-myeon (Step Closer)

The name of this neighborhood is Daga-dong,

and the wordplay here is absolutely brilliant...

That's why it's the "Daga Traveler's Library,"

and they've named the zones "Dagao-myeon" (Step Closer), "No-olda" (Hang Out), and "Meomul-daga" (Stay Awhile).

Daga, daga, daga... Okay, that rhyme is actually fire! 🔥

Travel is reading while standing,

and reading is a journey while sitting.

Travel is a standing book

and reading is a sedentary journey

My reading list from last year was pretty sad... 🥲

This quote kind of reminds me of Jungkook's "Standing Next to You"...

There's a staff member on the 1st floor to help you out.

In the "One Step Closer to Travel" corner,

there's a wide variety of travel books.

It's the perfect place to browse and plan your next big adventure!

They have plenty of personal essays alongside guidebooks,

so make sure to check them out! ^.~

But wait, I can never resist tteokbokki...

I haven't even been to 10% of these yet.

My foodie pride is officially wounded... 😂

3F, No-ol-daga (Play & Hang Out)

The 3rd floor, "No-ol-daga," comes with a rooftop terrace.

Since it's freezing cold right now, let's just take a quick peek outside!

2F, Meomul-daga (Stay & Linger)

Warm rugs, comfy sofas...

the overall vibe is so incredibly cozy.

I absolutely loved the 2nd floor,

but there were some young girls

completely sprawled out, and some people were fast asleep... 😅

That part was a little bit of a bummer.

On weekdays, it would be an amazing spot

to get some work done on your laptop or just read.

Depending on when you visit,

it could be absolutely perfect, or just moderately nice... haha.

Even looking down from above, the view is spectacular.

The atmosphere here is truly top-tier.

It's almost a crime that this place isn't more famous.

Everyone in the world needs to know about this...

Jeonju's amazing libraries! 😭

If you open the door with the lovely name "Book Dive,"

you'll find a literal pool

where you can dive right in! 🏊‍♂️

(Though there's no water... snap out of it, it's freezing temperatures outside! 🥶)

B1, Daga-dokbang (Private Reading Room)

This was my absolute favorite space in the entire Daga Traveler's Library.

It feels less like a loft and more like your own cozy, secret basement hideaway.

Cozy in its purest form! ✨

One wall was completely covered in notes left behind by other travelers:

Recommendations for the best local spots in Jeonju,

stories of who they traveled here with,

New Year's resolutions,

wishes,

and cards wishing for eternal love, luck, and friendship.

With so many different stories on the wall,

I had a lot of fun quietly peeking at them. 👀

Instead of just blank sticky notes,

they are prompt cards, giving you a quiet moment to reflect on the questions! 📝

I've visited the libraries in Jeonju quite a few times now

(and every single visit was absolutely wonderful),
