Daejimeongga Bangi-dong Review 2026: Pork Neck & Kimchi Grill Near Seokchon Lake
Dive into Daejimeongga Bangi-dong, a surprising find near Seokchon Lake, known for its juicy pork neck and innovative separate kimchi grill. Find out about waiting times, parking, and our honest dining experience.
After a great workout, my friend and I were craving some serious protein, so we set out for a hearty Korean BBQ feast! 💪
Honestly, Daejimeongga (meaning 'Pig Master') wasn't our initial target. We were just scouting out a few BBQ spots around Bangi-meokja-golmok (Bangi Food Alley) and Seokchon Lake. But this place caught our eye with its short wait time and super clean vibe, so we decided to go for it!
We arrived around 6:30 PM on a bustling weekend evening, and I'm happy to report that it turned out to be a surprisingly delightful experience. 😊

It's tucked inside Bangi-meokja-golmok, so it's quite easy to find once you're in the area. We walked from Songpanaru Station, and they even have waiting benches outside and inside the restaurant, which was a nice touch!

⌛ Waiting Time During My Visit
On a weekend evening around 6:30 PM, there was 1 group ahead of us.
We waited for about 10 minutes. Interestingly, the wait disappeared completely later in the evening, so expect variations depending on the time!
📱 Reservations
Available via Naver and Catchtable. However, the restaurant advises that reservations for peak hours (6 PM - 9 PM) might be difficult (though they sometimes appear open online!).
🚗 Parking
No on-site parking. The restaurant provides information on nearby paid parking lots. The Bangi-dong 71-2 paid parking lot offers 1 hour of free parking with restaurant use. Note that space can be limited, so plan accordingly if you're driving!

Waiting & Entry
Is a spontaneous visit possible?
We got in much faster than expected!
With just one group ahead, we only waited about 10 minutes. For a Saturday night, I was braced for a longer queue, so this was a pleasant surprise.
Funnily enough, once we started eating, the line outside completely vanished. It might have been a quieter holiday season, making the streets a bit less crowded overall.
Reservations are possible through Naver and Catchtable, but it's always a good idea to double-check for any restrictions during peak dinner hours.
Menu & Prices
My recommendations...

The main pork options range from classic pork belly (samgyeopsal) and pork neck (moksal) to special cuts. We decided without hesitation on the 30mm Pork Neck for ~$13 (per serving). Gotta refuel that protein after a workout! 🐷🤍
We initially ordered two servings, but it was so good, we ended up adding one more, bringing our total pork neck to three servings. We also added an assorted mushroom platter for ~$3. For just the meat and mushrooms, our bill came to about ~$42!

They even offer multilingual menus (Korean, English, Chinese, Japanese) for international guests, accessible via a QR code on the menu. Very thoughtful!
Menu Review
What makes this place special?
The Kimchi-Only Grill!
This was, hands down, my favorite feature! The grill for the meat has a separate, dedicated section specifically for grilling kimchi.

As someone who isn't a fan of kimchi seasoning getting all over my meat, this was perfect for a clean grilling experience! While it doesn't use pork fat, you can grill your kimchi with sesame oil or butter for that extra flavor boost.
And the variety of kimchi and side dishes is truly impressive:
• Pocheon Bean Sprouts (not kimchi)
• Gangwon-do Highland Aged Kimchi
• Fermented Napa Cabbage Kimchi
• Yeosu Gat Kimchi (Mustard Leaf Kimchi)
• Washed Aged Kimchi
• Green Onion Kimchi
Kimchi is refillable for free, and you can even request specific types! I thoroughly enjoyed the kimchi and myeong-i namul (marinated wild garlic leaves). Just a heads-up, the side dishes were generally a bit on the saltier side.
Pork Neck & Mushroom Grill
For those who love leaner cuts and aren't mushroom fanatics...

I'm usually a fan of leaner meats and don't typically go for super fatty cuts. But the pork neck here hit that sweet spot – not too greasy, but definitely not dry or tough. It was perfectly balanced!

The staff also grill the meat for you, which is always a plus. The first person who cooked for us did an amazing job – the meat was perfectly seared on the outside, locking in all the juicy flavor on the inside.
Adding More Meat & Mushrooms

The assorted mushroom platter came with six button mushrooms, half a king oyster mushroom, and a small amount of enoki mushrooms. As someone who isn't a huge fan of button mushrooms, the ratio was a little disappointing for me.
When we ordered the extra serving of pork, a different staff member grilled it. While still good, it wasn't quite as perfectly cooked as the first batch. The cooking technique can really make a difference, even with the same cut of meat! Still, the pork itself was delicious, so it definitely passed the test.
Ambiance & Service
A clean and inviting space
The restaurant was generally very clean and well-maintained. Each table had a large exhaust hood, so there wasn't that typical smoky, hazy atmosphere you often find in BBQ joints.

Even on a busy weekend evening, customers were constantly coming and going, but the turnover felt relatively quick. One minor thing I noticed was that the staff consistently wore black nitrile gloves, which made me wonder when they were changed. However, the overall cleanliness of the place was so impressive that I decided to trust them completely! 😊
Overall Verdict
How highly do I recommend it?
I'll definitely be back! 🫶
This wasn't a place I specifically sought out; we just picked it on a whim in the area. But it truly exceeded my expectations.
👍 What I Loved:
• The pork neck was consistently delicious.
• A fantastic variety of kimchi, all with free refills!
• The separate grill for kimchi was a brilliant touch.
• The staff grilled the meat for us.
• The restaurant was notably clean.
🤔 Minor Drawbacks:
• The side dishes were a tad salty overall.
• The assorted mushroom platter had a very high proportion of button mushrooms (my least favorite, haha!).
Next time, I'm bringing my boyfriend to try grilling every single type of kimchi! 🐻🤍
If you find yourself in Bangi-meokja-golmok or near Seokchon Lake, craving some delicious pork and a unique kimchi grilling experience, Daejimeongga will definitely come to mind.
It's also a great alternative if Songnidan-gil gets too crowded on a weekend and you're looking for something different!
That's all for now...
