Daejeon Sunflower Fields 2026: Yudeungcheon Riverside Blooms
Explore Daejeon's beautiful riverside sunflower fields, a perfect hidden gem for late summer and autumn strolls. Find vibrant blooms along Yudeungcheon and Gapcheon in 2026.
Before the official start of autumn,
I used to go sunflower viewing from late summer.
These days, sunflowers seem to bloom
variously from summer all the way through autumn.

The sunflower field I'm about to introduce you to
is located in the heart of Daejeon,
offering great accessibility.
It's also a wonderful spot for a date,
and I recently visited the Yudeungcheon Riverside Sunflower Field (Hanbat Bridge, Ojeong-dong).

As a great outing spot in Daejeon, and a must-visit for autumn in Daejeon,
the **sunflower fields** are incredibly popular these days!
Currently (as of Oct. 24th), they are in magnificent full bloom,
so you absolutely *must* visit this weekend!

Daejeon City has created large-scale flower complexes along its three major rivers.
These have been developed in 17 locations, including Gapcheon Dunsan Bridge, Yudeungcheon River, and Hanbat Bridge.
While crape myrtles are also in full bloom along the Gapcheon riverside,
the Yudeungcheon riverside in the Ojeong-dong direction
is densely planted with sunflowers,
making it a perfect spot for an autumn outing.
The Ojeong-dong sunflower field and the nearby
Gapcheon Waterfront Cultural Center, where crape myrtles are also in full bloom,
make a fantastic combined itinerary to explore!

✅ Daejeon Riverside Sunflower Fields
✔ Ojeong-dong Hanbat Bridge Sunflower Field (Yudeungcheon Riverside)
☞ 70-224 Ojeong-dong
☞ Between Hanbat Bridge and Samcheon Bridge
☞ Park on the riverside street or in alleyways
✔ Taepyeong-dong Sunflower Field (Yudeungcheon Riverside)
☞ 314-2 Taepyeong-dong
☞ Between Suchim Bridge and Gajang Bridge
☞ Park on the riverside street or in alleyways
The Ojeong-dong Sunflower Field, Gapcheon Sunflower Field, Yudeungcheon Riverside Sunflower Field, and Hanbat Bridge Sunflower Field
are all sunflower fields located near Ojeong-dong,
and many people are visiting them.
In addition to these spots, you can also enjoy sunflowers in full bloom
towards Boksu Bridge and Taepyeong Bridge along the Yudeungcheon River.

The Yudeungcheon Riverside Sunflower Field
is located near the Ojeong-dong Agricultural and Fishery Products Market.
There is no dedicated parking.
You can park along the white lines on nearby streets or in alleyways,
then head down to the riverside.
Just follow the blue arrows to descend.

If you don't use the designated path,
you might find it a bit inconvenient to descend by crossing the hill.

When passing by on the road,
the yellow blossoms felt just like blooming canola flowers! Haha.

Stretching from Hanbat Bridge (the riverside below Hanbat Sinhwasusan) towards Samcheon Bridge,
this sunflower field is truly vast,
and its sheer size, with endless yellow fields, creates a dazzling spectacle.

Daejeon's riverside areas are truly blessed with excellent bike paths everywhere, aren't they?
Both the Yudeungcheon and Gapcheon streams have connected bike paths,
so you can cycle along and enjoy the sights for miles.

Because the bike paths are so well-maintained,
it's also a great spot to bring a stroller.
However, the pathways through the middle of the sunflower field are quite widely spaced,
making it a bit tricky to cross directly through the sunflower field to get between the riverside and the main road.

On my visit (October 24, 2024), they were already in full bloom!
There are still some buds yet to open,
so I think you'll have a good chance to see them before the weather gets too cold.

I visited in the middle of the day, and perhaps because the sun was shining so brightly,
it was perfect for capturing the vibrant blue sky and cheerful yellow sunflowers.
Sunflowers captured during sunset are also incredibly charming,
so visiting in the evening might be a wonderful idea too!

The sunflowers are all blooming vibrantly, facing one direction.
They are in full bloom, facing towards Samcheon Bridge, which is opposite Hanbat Bridge,
making it ideal for taking photos with Hanbat Bridge in the background.

When I tried taking photos facing Samcheon Bridge,
it was a bit challenging in the bright midday sun, wasn't it? Haha!
However, facing Samcheon Bridge in the evening, when the sun sets,
you can capture amazing backlit photos with the beautiful sunset.
You can really get some great shots.
In the middle of the day, the glare was simply too intense,
and when I tried to take pictures with Samcheon Bridge behind me,
I couldn't quite get the results I was hoping for.

So, if you visit during midday, make sure to bring your sunglasses,
and it would be best to take photos with Hanbat Bridge behind you.

Occasionally, you might even spot a sunflower or two blooming in the opposite direction! Haha!

The sunflowers I'm familiar with are generally those with flowers much larger than a face,
and packed with sunflower seeds!

But the sunflowers located along the Yudeungcheon stream are a horticultural variety,
cultivated to be smaller in size and height.

What's more, I always thought sunflowers bloomed in the summer,
but the ones blooming in Daejeon apparently flower around September to October,
which is perfect for truly soaking in the autumn vibes.
This year's blooming season started about a week later than last year,
making right now the absolute best time to visit!

Although there are signs asking visitors not to enter the sunflower field,
many people have already gone in and out,
so there are paths worn throughout the field.

While these sunflowers are absolutely stunning and delightful,
one small thing I found a bit disappointing was that
there aren't any benches to rest on or dedicated photo zones anywhere in between. Lol!
It's just the sunflower field itself, nothing else! Haha!

Nevertheless, the vast expanse of the sunflower field is so captivating,
you'll lose track of time just admiring it! Haha!
This sunflower field is already becoming a rising hot spot in Daejeon,
so you'll see many photographers, couples on dates,
and people visiting with family and friends.

If you're on the hunt this weekend for incredible places to visit in Daejeon,
perfect autumn outing spots,
or charming date locations,
then I highly recommend checking out these sunflower fields!
Before the chill truly sets in,
immerse yourself in a spectacular autumn journey, surrounded by vibrant yellow sunflowers under a brilliant blue sky.
Plus, with their fantastic city-center locations, access couldn't be easier!
Gapcheon Sunflower Field
Yudeungcheon Sunflower Field
Ojeong-dong Sunflower Field
These are truly unmissable!
So gather your beloved family, your special someone, or your favorite friends and make it a memorable trip!
