Can you believe a place like this opened in Daejeon (대전)?!
I took my mom to Sky193 (스카이193), a new must-visit spot in Daejeon that just opened on October 1st.
At first, I wondered what we'd do for a whole two hours,
but once we were there, it felt like time flew by, and I actually wished we had more! ㅠㅠ
I'll cover everything from how to book your visit and admission fees to parking and some handy tips I picked up along the way :)
1. Sky193 (스카이193): A Must-Visit in Daejeon (대전)

Daejeon SKY193 (대전 SKY193) |
38th Floor, 1 Expo-ro (엑스포로), Yuseong-gu (유성구), Daejeon |
Parking: Use Shinsegae Department Store (신세계백화점) parking lot Register for 3 hours of free parking upon exit |
Sky193 is an observatory and cultural complex newly unveiled by Shinsegae Art & Science (신세계 Art & Science) in Daejeon.

It's a place where you can take in the panoramic views of Daejeon city,
and simultaneously enjoy a space for listening to LP music and a contemporary art exhibition by Olafur Eliasson!
(Even G-Dragon visited before it opened...!)

The entrance is right across from Starbucks, so it wasn't hard to find.
Note that there isn't a separate cafe or restaurant inside Sky193.
I recommend grabbing a coffee to-go from Starbucks when you visit.
Drinks are allowed, but food items are not!
I even took in a tea bag to-go, hehe.
2. Sky193 Reservations and Usage Guide

Category | Information |

You can book your visit to Sky193 by selecting your desired date and time on Naver.
Weekend reservations for October are already completely sold out!
(Keep checking, as cancelled tickets might pop up!)

Once your reservation is complete, a separate QR code will be sent to you via KakaoTalk.
You can enter by scanning this QR code on-site!
And since you can only enter on your reserved date and time slot,
make sure to double-check the time!

I booked the 3 PM slot.
You could **enter starting 10 minutes before** 3 PM sharp,
and after enjoying the **LP bar for about 50 minutes**,
the **docent tour began at 3:50 PM**.

So, think of it as **1 hour for LP listening + 1 hour for exhibition viewing**,
making it approximately 2 hours in total.
After the docent's explanation, you can explore the exhibition freely,
and if you finish viewing earlier, you're welcome to head down first.

There are also free lockers available
that you can use before and after entering.
It's a great idea to store your bags or luggage
and enjoy the exhibition comfortably.
★ Sky193 (스카이193) Booking Tip! ★ |
I recommend the 5 PM slot!
The Olafur Eliasson exhibition (올라퍼 엘리아슨 전시)
changes its atmosphere depending on the light,
so if you enter at 5 PM, you'll get to experience different lighting
during both the docent-led and free viewing sessions.

While there might be slight differences depending on the season,
I highly recommend going around sunset to experience not only the day and night scenery,
but also the beautiful sunset itself!
Also, make sure to arrive 10 minutes before your reservation time
and be among the first to arrive, so you can snag the best seat
when listening to the LPs :)
3. LP Bar Listening & Exhibition Viewing Review

Currently, as an opening celebration, they were giving each person
**a fresh flower as a gift upon entry**.
Receiving a flower right at the entrance made me feel so incredibly happy, hehe.

At Sky193,
my favorite spot was definitely the LP bar.
The entire city of Daejeon (대전 시내) stretched out through the panoramic windows,
and with LP music playing, the atmosphere was just incredible.

The variety of LPs was much wider than I expected!
**Jazz, Pop, City Pop, J-POP, K-POP,**
**from classical to 7080 music**!
I visited with my mom,
and it was great because there were lots of old songs
that our parents' generation would love.

I thought an hour would be enough,
but as I picked and listened to my favorite music,
time just flew by in an instant.
Especially the window seats where the sunlight streamed in,
the photos turned out absolutely beautiful.
That's why I'd highly recommend it as a date spot too, haha!

After the LP listening session, you'll join a docent
to view the exhibition by Olafur Eliasson.
The works utilizing light, color, and space
were truly impressive.

Our docent was incredibly kind, and if I had viewed the exhibition alone,
I might have simply walked past some of the artworks, but with their explanations,
everything became much clearer and more enjoyable.
After the docent tour, you can also enjoy a self-guided viewing.
If you scan the QR code on the floor with your phone camera,
you can even listen to an audio guide!

Don't forget to check out the photo zone and observation deck on the 39th floor!

When leaving, we also received a small souvenir.
It was a mini LP record that can be used as a tea coaster!
There were five different designs available,
and they were so small and cute, perfect to keep as a memento.

Honestly, since it's directly across from Starbucks,
I initially wondered if I really needed to pay an admission fee
just to see the view.
But after visiting in person, I realized it's not just a simple observation deck;
it's differentiated by being a space where you can enjoy LP music and a contemporary art exhibition simultaneously.

Most importantly, the photos turn out absolutely gorgeous!!!
It's just perfect for a wonderfully atmospheric travel itinerary, haha!
Whether you're planning a trip to Daejeon (대전) with your parents,
a unique date, or looking for a place to visit with friends from out of town,
I highly, highly recommend it.
