This summer, while conquering the water parks in Yuseong-gu,
this time, I was looking for something a little different and unique,
so I visited the Sangso-dong Forest Bathing Area Water Park in Dong-gu.
It's a unique space where a valley stream, forest, and water park all come together,
so both the kids and I had a wonderfully fulfilling day.
I've carefully compiled everything you need to know about the Sangso-dong Forest Bathing Area Water Park: usage information, location, parking, reviews, and even some smart tips.

The Sangso-dong Forest Bathing Area Water Park
is located about a 5-10 minute walk
into the Sangso-dong Forest Bathing Area after parking.
You'll pass by a foot bath, a forest resting area, a sand play area, a forest playground, and stone pagodas,
and you'll need to walk all the way inside.
Since it's a bit of a distance,
a wagon would make carrying your belongings much easier!

and it's free.

1️⃣Four Pools (Depth 40~60cm)
✅ Recommended Ages
Perfect for toddlers up to lower elementary school students.
The Sangso-dong Forest Bathing Area Water Park
is comprised of four distinct zones.
✔️Lower Area: Shallow depth (~40cm) with some sunlight → Toddlers and infants
✔️Upper Area: Slightly deeper depth (max 60cm) → Elementary school students
✔️Shoes and aqua shoes are prohibited inside all pools.
It's best to wear Crocs or slippers that are easy to put on and take off for moving around.
Before entering the pools,
take off your shoes at the shoe racks provided at each pool entrance
and use them barefoot.
It's a good idea to wash your feet thoroughly before getting in!
Our kids loved the uppermost pool the most.
It's really spacious,
perfect for floating around on a tube!
The deepest part of the water
reached about an adult's thigh / a child's waist.
It's not too deep,
just right for playing.
The lower area has a water level of below the knees,
perfectly set up for younger children to play.
If you get tired from playing,
it's great to take a short break on either side! Haha
Lifeguards were stationed at each pool, and what really impressed me was that they weren't just watching; they were actively playing with the kids!
Since this is a swimming spot located deep in the forest,
the water temperature is lower than pools directly exposed to the sun.
While there are spots where the sun peeks through,
the water is generally cool,
making it the perfect place for the middle of summer!
✅ Water Quality & Temperature
Overall, the water quality was quite good.
However, since it's an outdoor setting,
being an outdoor stream, you might find some leaves and twigs,
but I actually found it reassuring—it adds to the natural feel! 😉
The water quality is best in the morning,
and it tends to get a bit cloudy in the afternoon.
As for the water temperature, it's stream water,
so it was colder than I expected.
✅ Flat Platforms & Rest Areas
Right next to the water play area,
there's a 'pyeongsang' (flat wooden platform) section.
But they're super popular and fill up quickly!
If you can't find a spot,
you can always spread out a mat in the shaded areas nearby.
✅️ 5. Facilities
✔️ Separate changing rooms for men and women, restrooms, water dispenser, and air guns are available.
✔️ No showers (only simple rinsing is possible).
✅️ Amenities & Activities
Beyond the swimming area, Sangsodong Forest Recreational Area offers a wealth of
activities,
making it a fantastic place to visit any season of the year.
The forest playground is equipped with
various play facilities like a net adventure (free!), swings, a zipline, and a log bridge,
so kids can happily play all day long.
Additionally, with the Sangsodong Forest Recreational Area stone pagoda photo zone,
a refreshing foot bath area, a sand playground, and well-maintained walking trails,
it's a place that adults and children alike can enjoy.
Down below,
you can freely play in the beautifully maintained stream water.
It's great for catching fish
and observing various aquatic plants.
✔️ Since it's in the forest, there are lots of mosquitoes and bugs! Mosquito repellent is a must!
✔️ Lifeguards are stationed at each pool, and an ambulance is on standby.
✔️ There are no restaurants nearby, so packing a lunchbox and snacks is essential!
✔️ Arriving early (an 'open run') is a must: On weekends, you need to arrive before 9:30 AM to secure a pyeongsan (flat platform) spot.
✔️ Wagon recommended: The path from the parking lot to the water play area is long, so a wagon is an essential item for transporting your belongings.
✔️ Footwear: You use bare feet inside the pool area, so it's good to have easy-to-wear Crocs or water slippers for moving around.
Among free water play areas,
it's rare to find one nestled in the forest like this.
The stream water keeps it cool,
and being surrounded by trees means plenty of shade even in the height of summer, making it wonderfully pleasant.
The kids couldn't get enough of the water play + forest playground + stream activities,
even after playing all day,
while I enjoyed a relaxing time, healing and breathing in the fresh forest air.
For a summer vacation family outing,
I highly recommend this as a day trip!

The water park will operate from Thursday, July 24, 2025, to Wednesday, August 20, 2025. It is closed every Monday. It operates in three sessions per day: 1st session 10:00 AM–12:00 PM, 2nd session 1:00 PM–3:00 PM, and 3rd session 3:30 PM–5:30 PM.
Swimsuits (including rash guards) and swimming caps (or regular hats) are mandatory when using the water park. Infants and toddlers must wear waterproof diapers. Shoes and aqua shoes are prohibited inside the pool, and pets are not allowed to enter.
The water park consists of a total of 4 pools, with depths ranging from 40cm to a maximum of 60cm. The lower pools have shallow depths (around 40cm) suitable for infants and toddlers, while the upper pools are slightly deeper (up to 60cm) and are ideal for elementary school students.
There is a dedicated free parking lot for the water park, but it takes about 5-10 minutes to walk from the parking lot to the water park, so preparing a wagon would be convenient for carrying luggage. Since there are no restaurants nearby, it's a good idea to prepare lunch boxes and snacks in advance.
