Autumnal Charm at Daejeon Healing Forest's Kochia Garden
The place you absolutely can't miss when autumn arrives! It's none other than the Kochia Garden. When it comes to Kochia, places like Yeoncheon Imjingang Kochia Park and Uiryeong Chinsoo Park are well-known. While perhaps not as grand, there's also a place in Daejeon where you can see Kochia. It's the only spot in Daejeon where you can find them! It's not vast, but it's a wonderful place to enjoy peacefully – I recently visited Daejeon Healing Forest's Kochia Garden. I'll give you all the details, including its location, parking, blooming status, and essential visiting tips.

1. Location Guide
📍 Daejeon Healing Forest
386 Unnam-ro 37beon-gil, Jung-gu, Daejeon
Daejeon Healing Forest is located
above Cheonhamal Village in Musu-dong,
about a 15-minute drive from Anyeong IC.
Nearby, you'll find attractions like O-World and Ppuri Park,
so it's a great idea to combine them into a full itinerary.
You can simply enter 'Daejeon Healing Forest' or
'386 Unnam-ro 37beon-gil' into your navigation to visit.

2. Parking Information
Near the entrance of the Healing Forest,
a spacious free parking lot is available,
so you won't have to worry about parking.

From the parking lot, it's an approximately 3-minute walk uphill
to the Kochia Garden.

3. Blooming Status
Date of visit: October 9th
As of my visit on October 9th, the Kochia plants were
about 60%
covered in a vibrant red hue.

The entire garden was a mix of
half pink and half green hues.

Thanks to that,
the subtle gradient of colors looked incredibly natural and,
in fact, made it even more beautiful. Haha.

However, one regrettable thing was that
the harvest wasn't good this year,
so the Kochia plants at the back
were withered and dead.

Thankfully, the area near the entrance
was blooming beautifully.

The estimated peak blooming period
will likely be from mid-October to the last week of October.
*This is my personal opinion.

4. Visitor Review
The Healing Forest is primarily known for its
Forest Healing Center and its beautiful walking trails.
Perhaps because it's nestled in the mountains,
people often say the air itself feels different here.
The cool breeze blowing through
was actually quite crisp and refreshing.

In autumn,
silver grass and vibrant autumn leaves,
along with brilliant red kochia, create a stunning harmony everywhere you look.

The Kochia Garden
is located about a 3-5 minute walk uphill from the parking lot,
opposite the Healing Center.

One side is a forest walking trail
and the other is a deck path,
so either way is wonderful.
Even if you go with children,
it's not too strenuous,
as it's a gentle uphill slope.

If you're with a stroller or wheelchair,
it's best to walk up the road on the left side.
However, it is an uphill path, so it might be a bit challenging.

If you look for the Healing Center,
the garden is right next to it,
so it's easy to locate.

✅️Opening Hours

📌Healing Forest Operating Hours

(October-February) 9:00 AM ~ 5:00 PM
✔️Closed every Monday

The Kochia Garden at Healing Forest
is a small but charming garden.
Since the trees aren't very big yet,
it feels even more adorable.

In the center of the garden,
there's a small fountain
and a space decorated like a photo zone.

Inside the red square-shaped sculpture,
photos turn out great!

In spring, it's lime green,
in summer, it's verdant green,
and in autumn, it turns brilliant red,
showcasing a variety of charms.
Round and fluffy,
it blooms in a spherical shape,
giving it a feeling like a ball of yarn
or even cotton candy! Haha.

Since they haven't fully bloomed yet,
the pinkish hues blend with the green,
creating a contrasting yet
subtly harmonious color palette.

It's hard to capture
the full autumn vibe in photos! Haha.

A full loop takes
just 5-10 minutes,
making it a perfect spot to drop by and relax for a bit.

The Healing Forest features
extensive forest walking trails,
so you can explore the Kochia Garden
and its surrounding walking paths.
It's a great idea to combine your visit with other nearby trails!

On the way home after our walk,
in the parking lot,
we noticed a water gun installed!
It's a WA.TER. gun.
I shot it without thinking, assuming it was just blowing air,
but water came out and soaked my shoes! LOL!
