This is definitely a must-visit during summer vacation!
Among Daejeon's free water playgrounds,
this highly-regarded spot is located in
Jungchon-dong, Jung-gu, Daejeon,
at Jungchon Citizen Park (Jungchon Geunrin Park).
Can elementary school students have fun here too?
Can we go without a reservation?
How deep are the pools,
and are there different facilities depending on a child's height?
After exploring it myself,
I found that not only is there the existing castle-themed water playground,
but also modular pools, water slides, other play equipment,
and even weekend experiential programs.
From operating hours and first-come, first-served entry methods
to pool depths and height restrictions,
reviews for each facility, and what to bring –
I'll summarize everything you'd want to know before visiting.

The Jungchon Citizen Park (Jungchon Geunrin Park) Water Playground is located in Jungchon-dong, Jung-gu, Daejeon.
This place is called by various names:
Jungchon Citizen Park
Jungchon Geunrin Park
Jungchon Munhwa Park
They all refer to the same location.
You can easily find it by searching for
'Jungchon Citizen Park' or 'Jungchon Geunrin Park' on your navigation system.
However, Jungchon Geunrin Park is quite large,
so you might not immediately find the water playground even after arriving at the park.
The water playground is located
in front of the Tashu rental station,
so you can easily find it by using the Tashu station as a landmark.
Dedicated free parking lot or roadside parking
You can use the park's dedicated parking lot (next to the Little League baseball field), but
it's quite a distance from the water playground.
It takes about a 5-10 minute walk from the dedicated parking lot (Little League baseball field)
to the water playground.
On the day of our visit,
many people were parked on the roadside nearby.
Even from the roadside,
you'll need to head further into the park to find it.
When packing swimsuits, extra clothes, picnic mats, snacks, and drinks,
you might find yourself with more luggage than expected.
Instead of making multiple trips,
we loaded all our belongings onto
a foldable cart,
which made moving them much more convenient.
A cart has now become an essential item for water play!
3. Jungchon Citizen Park Waterpark How to Use Admission is on a first-come, first-served basis, no reservations needed. |
The children's waterpark at Jungchon Citizen Park
is super easy to access! Just arrive at the site,
head to the information desk,
and receive entry wristbands
according to your group size.
Then you can enjoy the waterpark!
However, keep in mind that the maximum capacity per session
is 700 people, including guardians.
Last weekend (on the 26th),
the afternoon session was completely full,
and there was even a waiting line!
Especially during summer vacation and on weekends,
not only the entrance line
but also shaded spots can fill up quickly.
It's definitely best to arrive with plenty of time before the opening!
Instead of just thinking about getting in,
it was a good idea to consider finding a spot to spread your mat and relax,
which really helped in deciding our visiting time.
4. Jungchon Citizen Park Waterpark What Water Play Facilities Can You Expect? |
The children's waterpark at Jungchon Citizen Park
offers everything from toddler-friendly splash pads
to modular pools and water slides that even elementary schoolers can enjoy,
so you can choose facilities suitable for your children's ages.
Modular Pools 40cm deep pool: Accessible for heights 60cm or taller 60cm deep pool: Accessible for heights 80cm or taller 70cm deep pool: Accessible for heights 100cm or taller |
This year's most notable attraction is definitely the modular pools.
The pools are divided into three areas
based on depth.
The innermost pool,
the 40cm deep pool,
also offers pedal boat rides!
The 60cm deep pool
is equipped with a water slide,
making it a favorite among kids.
The 70cm deep pool
is the largest of them all,
and it seemed capable of accommodating many people.
It's not just a shallow splash pad like a floor fountain;
it's deep enough for elementary schoolers
to have a truly fun time!

Next to the modular pools,
an inflatable water slide is also set up.
This was also where most of the children gathered!
It's designed so you slide down
directly into the pool,
and preschool children especially loved it.

The castle-shaped splash pad
that was originally installed at Jungchon Citizen Park
is also operating.
There are three water buckets that dump water all at once from above,
various water jets,
and four slides,
making it perfect for young children to play.
Since water is constantly spraying,
you'll quickly get soaked even if you stand still,
and for toddlers,
the shallow depth made it great for them to enjoy with their guardians.

Around the water playground, a fountain tunnel
is also set up.
Kids can run and play between the fountains,
and with water spouting from various spots,
it was perfect for children to stay active and have fun.
Even young children who find it difficult to use the main pool
can fully enjoy this space,
making it a great spot for siblings to visit together.
5. Jungchon Citizen Park Water Playground Experiences and Play Equipment |
Next to the water playground,
there was also children's play equipment available.
It's located a little distance from the water play facilities,
so you can find it by following the signs.
It's available for free,
but no one was actually using it.....;;

Capacity: 14 people / Ride time: within 3 minutes / Must be 70cm or taller to ride / Children under 70cm must be accompanied by a guardian
Also, at the experience booth, which operates only on weekends,
a science experience program called 'Making Water Droplets You Can Touch'
is also available.
It's a program where you get to make soft, squishy water droplets yourself
and touch them with your hands.
When you get tired of just water play,
it would be great to try this experience for a bit.
6. Jungchon Citizen Park Water Playground Who would we recommend it to? |
Jungchon Citizen Park
normally functions as a castle-shaped playground,
but in the summer, it transforms into a water playground.
In addition, a prefabricated pool and
an inflatable water slide have been added.
It's not just a simple splash pad
with only ground fountains;
kids can choose play areas according to their height and age,
making it great for everyone from toddlers to elementary schoolers.
It looked absolutely perfect!
Young toddlers can play in the shallow splash area,
while elementary school students can enjoy the deeper pools and slides,
allowing everyone to find their own fun, which I really loved.
7. Jungchon Citizens' Park Water Play Area Where are the Best Shaded Spots? |
Around the water play area,
shade shelters are set up.
The most popular spots were
the shelters right next to the water play area.
While it was relatively relaxed in the morning,
by 11 AM,
most of the spots were filled.
If you bring a mat,
I recommend grabbing a spot as soon as you enter.
Besides the shade shelters,
many people also found spots
under the trees in the back.
However, both the shade shelters
and the tree shade spots
change their shaded areas
as time passes.
If your kids spend a long time
at the water play area,
it's best to arrive early
and secure a spot close to the water play area.
There are no separate shelters
directly in front of the pools.
You can spread out a mat under the shelters,
where kids can rest or enjoy some snacks.
Since it can get quite wet,
it's essential to bring
a waterproof mat.
A thicker mat will also help
reduce the hardness of the ground.
Personally,
I found the combination of a thick waterproof mat and camping chairs to be the best.
Kids can relax on the mat,
while adults can sit comfortably in chairs.
It was much more comfortable that way!
8. Jungchon Citizens' Park Water Play Area Can I bring in outside food? |
Yes, you absolutely can!
I even saw some people ordering fried chicken!
There's even a designated delivery zone
right by the entrance.
9. Jungchon Citizens' Park Water Play Area Convenient Facilities |
In front of the water play area, you'll find
a rental office, emergency medical aid, tube air pumps, and restrooms.
There were also separate temporary changing rooms & shower facilities
for men and women, as well as family changing rooms.
However, since the changing rooms and showers
are located within a single tent,
the space is cramped
and doesn't allow for much airflow,
making it quite hot.
Personally, I showered with the
showers available in the outdoor water play area
and only changed clothes in the changing room.
Because the space is limited,
it can get very crowded if many visitors
rush out at once.
It's a good idea to leave
a bit earlier than closing time.

aqua shoes are comfortable
when playing in the water play area.
If they'll mostly be in the pool,
easy-to-slip-on
sandals or Crocs
are convenient for kids to move around in.
Having visited myself,
I can say that this year there are far
more attractions to enjoy than in previous years!
From a castle-themed water playground
perfect for toddlers,
to modular pools and water slides
that elementary school children can enjoy,
there's such a diverse range of facilities to choose from for every age group,
making it great for siblings of different ages
to visit together.
However, on weekends,
the park can reach its capacity, and shaded spots
fill up quickly.
It's best to arrive a bit earlier than opening time.

The Jungchon Neighborhood Park Water Play Area will operate from July 24 to August 23, 2026. It is closed every Monday, and operating hours are 10:00 AM - 1:00 PM for the first session and 2:00 PM - 5:00 PM for the second session.
No reservation is required. You can use the facility by receiving an entry wristband on a first-come, first-served basis at the on-site information desk. The number of users per session, including guardians, is limited to 700 people.
The modular pools are divided into three areas based on depth: the 40cm deep pool is for children 60cm or taller, the 60cm deep pool is for children 80cm or taller, and the 70cm deep pool is for children 100cm or taller.
The dedicated free parking lot is located next to the Little Baseball Field. It takes approximately 5 to 10 minutes to walk from the parking lot to the water play area, so many visitors also use roadside parking.
