2. Gapcheon Ecological Lake Park Water Play Area
Location & Parking
📍 Gapcheon Ecological Lake Park 2383 Doan-dong, Seo-gu, Daejeon
📍 Gapcheon Ecological Lake Park Delivery Zone A Yuseong-gu, Daejeon
The Gapcheon Ecological Lake Park water play area operates
in two locations: the South side and the North side.
I visited both spots,
and they're quite a distance apart, more than I expected.
I thought they would be close since they're in the same park,
but walking with kids in the hot weather took quite a while.
Therefore, I recommend visiting one spot per day.
The South side has a ground fountain and a river swimming area,
while the North side features a water playground.

Parking Lot A
(In front of Triple City ELIFF Apartment)
If you think it's all one big park and park just anywhere,
you might end up walking quite a bit within the park.
If you're visiting with kids,
it's best to decide which facility you want to use first
and then use the closest parking lot.
Parking Lot C is close to the South side,
and Parking Lot A is close to the North side (not Parking Lot B)

✔ Mats allowed
✔ Water depth 25cm or less
Honestly, the place I was most curious about was the Riverside Bathing Area.
Because of the name, I initially thought
it would be deep water,
but it was surprisingly shallow.
It felt more like a large floor fountain
than a typical water park.
At first, I felt a little disappointed, but the children, on the other hand, were having a blast running around and playing.
Since the water isn't deep,
from a parent's perspective, it's reassuring to be able to see your child at a glance.
Snack Bar
What's especially great is that
the convenience facilities are right next to it,
making it easy to use with children.
The building that was previously closed
has now opened a snack bar and a cafe.
The snack bar sells everything from
bottled water, drinks, ice cream, and instant noodles to
water play essentials like tubes, water guns, and picnic mats.
Daon Cafe
If it gets too hot, the cafe is a great option too.
The cafe is designed so you can see the water play area from inside,
so adults can pop in for a short break and relax.
Especially, the cafe was selling the delightful
Kkumdori walnut cakes! 😄
The short walking distance to the restrooms
or to buy drinks while playing in the water
made the experience very satisfying.
Floor Fountain
In front of the observatory,
a floor fountain also operates.
⏰ Operating Hours
11:00 AM ~ 4:40 PM
*Operates for 40 minutes, followed by a 20-minute break for inspection.
While not large in scale,
it's perfect for a short moment of fun.
There are restrooms right in front,
but no separate temporary changing rooms are provided.
4. Gapcheon Ecological Lake Park Water Play Area
North Water Playground
📍 Towards Triple City Elife
⏰ Operating Hours
10:00 AM ~ 4:40 PM
✔ A Parking Lot (T-map standard)
✔ Nursing Room
✔ Restrooms
✔ Snack Bar
✔ Simple Changing Rooms
Towards Wonheung-dong in the north,
a children's water playground operates.
The biggest advantage of this spot is
that among the three water playgrounds at Gapcheon Ecological Lake Park,
it's the closest to the parking lot.
The South Water Playground
is a bit further from Parking Lot C, so you'll need to walk a little.
But from Parking Lot A on the north side,
it's right there – super convenient!
However, the space available for laying out picnic mats
wasn't quite as ample as at the riverside swimming area.
Also, the water playground itself
wasn't quite as large as I'd imagined.
With water tunnels,
water baskets,
slides, and more,
there's a good variety of attractions.
So, even though it's compact, it felt packed with fun!
Since it was the opening day, a lot of people gathered,
so it might be a little challenging for younger kids
to play comfortably.
Right next door, in the Ecological Support Center building,
you'll find restrooms and a snack bar.
5. Gapcheon Ecological Lake Park Water Play Area
What to Bring
Essential Items
Picnic Mat / Change of Clothes / Towel
Swimsuits, rash guards, and aqua shoes were not strictly required.
In fact, I saw children who looked like they were in upper elementary grades
just enjoying the water in their everyday clothes.
However, the ground can be slippery,
and there are some hot spots when you're moving around,
so it's a good idea to wear aqua shoes.
Optional Items
Hat / Sunscreen / Water / Light Snacks / Waterproof Phone Case
One of the great things about Gapcheon Ecological Lake Park is
that you're welcome to bring in your own food and drinks.
Especially on-site,
you're welcome to pack snacks for the kids,
and even order delivery food!
Of course, you can always grab something from the snack bar too!
Initially, the name 'Gangsu Bathing Beach' led me to expect a water play area with a bit more depth.
However, it turned out to be a fantastic spot for splashing around and cooling off in shallow waters!
While there were a few minor things as it was their first season, considering it's absolutely free, it was incredibly satisfying.
What truly stood out was how safe it was for infants, toddlers, and younger elementary kids to play. Plus, with a cafe, snack bar, and restrooms all conveniently close by, parents could truly relax and enjoy their time too.
For a couple of hours of refreshing fun with the kids, without any cost burden, and then a relaxing break at the cafe before heading home, it was perfectly delightful.
If you're searching for a free water play paradise in Daejeon, look no further than the Gapcheon Eco-Lake Park Water Play Area, which first opened its gates in 2026!
This summer, it's absolutely a must-visit destination.
