And right here in Daejeon, you'll discover plenty of fantastic spots perfect for an autumn stroll or a fun day out.
For instance, Yurim Park's Chrysanthemum Festival is in full bloom right now,
and along the stream banks, a dazzling array of flowers has burst into full bloom.
Along the beautiful Gapcheon Stream, you'll find cosmos and zinnias
gracing the banks with their blooms at different times.
Specifically, along the Gapcheon Stream beneath Expo Bridge,
the vibrant zinnias are in magnificent full bloom right now,
making it a top recommendation for an autumn escape in Daejeon,
a perfect romantic spot for a Daejeon date,
and simply one of the best places to visit in Daejeon.

Daejeon Su-byeon Cultural Center Outing: Zinnias in Bloom
While the Gapcheon Su-byeon Cultural Center is a must-visit spot in Daejeon, there isn't a dedicated parking lot directly next to it.
1. Riverside Parking Lot (Doryong-dong 8-59)
The Riverside Parking Lot located right in front of TJB Daejeon Broadcasting is the closest free parking option.
You can park under the bridge, just below the main road,
but do keep in mind that on weekends,
many families come with tents to enjoy their outings right next to the parking lot, making it quite crowded.
2. Hanbat Arboretum Parking Lot
Free for 3 hours.
It's a fantastic option to park here, explore the beautiful Hanbat Arboretum, and then take a lovely stroll along the stream banks.
3. Daejeon Convention Center (DCC) Exhibition Hall 2
Free for 1 hour, then ~$0 for 30 minutes, with a daily maximum of ~$3.
Parking is free on weekends.
I actually opted for the Daejeon Convention Center (DCC) Exhibition Hall 2 parking lot instead of the Riverside Parking Lot.
While it's usually quiet on weekdays, be aware that various events on weekends can make it quite busy.
This week, for example, there's a Wine Festival happening!

With large clusters of cosmos and zinnias blooming along the Gapcheon Stream,
it's truly a perfect spot for a romantic urban date in Daejeon.
Currently (as of 24.10.24), the cosmos have faded, and it's the season where the zinnias are blooming in their most glorious splendor!

You can discover these magnificent zinnias in three distinct locations along the Daejeon Stream banks:
✔ Along the stream bank towards Hanbat Arboretum,
✔ The stream bank in front of TJB Daejeon Broadcasting,
✔ And the Gapcheon Su-byeon Cultural Center, located in front of the Institute for Basic Science.
At all three of these locations,
you'll be greeted by a vibrant spectacle of
zinnias in every imaginable hue, blooming magnificently!
Each of these fantastic zinnia spots offers different nearby parking options, making your visit convenient no matter which you choose.

Last September, the stream bank in front of TJB Daejeon Broadcasting was ablaze with
stunning yellow cosmos,
which bloomed so magnificently.
However, this year, this very spot has been transformed,
blossoming anew with vibrant zinnias!

Meanwhile, on the stream bank adjacent to DCC,
where cosmos once bloomed in abundance,
the cosmos have now completely faded.

I chose to park at the Daejeon Convention Center (DCC) Parking Lot 2, and from there,
I explored the Gapcheon Waterfront Park in front of the Institute for Basic Science.
Using Expo Bridge as a central point,
you'll find cosmos blooming on one side,
and gorgeous zinnias flourishing on the other.

And don't forget the stream bank near Hanbat Arboretum,
where the zinnias are also in magnificent full bloom!
You can park at Hanbat Arboretum (enjoy 3 hours free parking!) and then
take a delightful stroll to explore the area – it's a wonderful route.

Whether you visit the Hanbat Arboretum side,
or head across the river
to the area in front of Hanbit Tower,
you'll find a spectacular display of diverse zinnias in full bloom,
making any of these spots a perfect place to immerse yourself in their beauty.

On weekends, with many visitors heading to the nearby Shinsegae Department Store and Daejeon Convention Center (DCC),
parking can be a challenge,
and it tends to get quite crowded.

The path is wide and flat,
making it wonderfully accessible for strollers or wheelchairs.
Just a heads-up: there's a dedicated bike lane along the edge, so if you're visiting with little ones,
keep an extra watchful eye!

The stunning crape myrtle (baegilhong) cluster along Gapcheon Stream is
nestled right in downtown Daejeon,
boasting fantastic accessibility.
With a bus stop conveniently located right beside it,
it's also a perfect and romantic spot for a Daejeon date!

What's more, the stream boasts a dedicated cycling path,
making it a hotspot for romantic bike dates!
With Daejeon Public Bicycles "Tashu" and Kakao Bikes readily available both upstream and downstream,
hopping on a bike to explore is an absolutely brilliant idea.

Funnily enough, when I visited the Daejeon Convention Center (DCC) last week,
I was utterly captivated and super curious about those vibrant red flowers blooming all along the riverbank!

And guess what? It turns out they were crape myrtles (baegilhong), planted on a truly grand scale!

Crape myrtles (Baegilhong),
true to their name which means '100-day flower,' are famous for blooming for an incredible hundred days!
That means you can marvel at their beauty for an extended period, right from now until the chill of winter sets in.

Whenever I pictured crape myrtles,
my mind always jumped straight to the fiery red ones.
Those vivid crimson blooms were just so powerfully etched in my memory!

But what a pleasant surprise! Here, they were bursting with color in a beautiful array of yellow, pink, and red!

The stream area directly in front of TJB Daejeon Broadcasting was bustling with people,
largely thanks to the diverse and inviting photo zones set up there!

That's why we decided to venture a bit further to the waterfront park. Haha!

The weather lately has been absolutely perfect,
which meant that even on a weekday, the area was buzzing with picnickers, cyclists,
and plenty of people enjoying a leisurely stroll!

With the sunlight (yunseul) shimmering on the stream, it truly was an absolutely perfect day for an unforgettable outing!

Surrounded by crape myrtles dazzling in every imaginable color,
it's truly a magnificent day to fully immerse yourself and revel in the beauty of autumn!

As I was enjoying the sights,
it was quite amusing to see the pigeons lined up perfectly like that. Haha!

On one side, the silver grass was blooming beautifully, letting me truly soak in the autumn atmosphere.

If you're looking for a wonderful place to visit this weekend,
