In Daejeon, the City of Bread,
the 2026 Daejeon Bread Festival is happening again this year!
I went last year too,
and honestly, the massive crowd was overwhelming!
Popular bakeries had long queues, and just navigating
through the crowds wasn't easy.
Still, the biggest advantage was being able to find
all those Daejeon bakeries in one place, which you'd normally have to visit individually.
That's the ultimate perk!

This year, the festival is moving to a larger area
around Daejeon Expo Science Park,
so I'm cautiously optimistic!
The list of participating businesses has also been revealed, so if you're planning to go this year,
make sure to plan your bakery hopping route in advance!
As a local bread-lover from Daejeon, I'll be recommending my favorite
bakeries too, so make sure to jot them down! :)
1. This year, at Expo Science Park!
2026 Daejeon Bread Festival Schedule

Category | 2026 Daejeon Bread Festival |
Dates | October 17th (Sat) - October 18th (Sun), 2026 |
Operating Hours | 1:00 PM - 8:30 PM |
Location | Daejeon Expo Science Park Area |
Admission | Free Admission (First-come, first-served) |
Last year, it was held around Soje-dong and Daedongcheon Stream,
but this year, the location has changed to Expo Science Park.
The event starts at 1 PM, but everyone tends to "open run" (rush in right at opening), so
if you go late, there might be no bread left... everything sells out...

It's great that the venue is larger, but parking is still the perennial problem...!
Currently, whether a separate free parking lot will be operated during the festival period
needs to be confirmed through additional official announcements.
In the meantime, I've compiled a list of nearby paid parking lots
that I'm familiar with.
Parking Lot | To Venue | Notes |
Expo Science Park Parking Lot | Approx. 3 min walk | Free within 30 minutes, ~$0 per 15 min / Max ~$7 per day |
DCC Parking Lot 1 & 2 | Approx. 5 min walk | Parking Lot 2 is relatively closer to the venue |
Daejeon Shinsegae Art&Science | Approx. 10-15 min walk | Department store & Expo Aquarium parking lot |
Considering last year's crowds, it's highly likely that
the parking lots directly in front of the venue
will be congested from early on this year too.

Moreover, public transport access to this area
isn't exactly excellent. So, if a separate shuttle bus
is operated during the festival, I recommend using it.
Otherwise, taking a taxi might be the most stress-free
option.
2. 2026 Daejeon Bread Festival Lineup

Participating vendors are divided into Zones A through E.
Last year, Sungsimdang first introduced its Matcha Twiso at the Daejeon Bread Festival,
so this year, I'm most excited to see what kind of festival-exclusive
menus or new products will make an appearance.
That's what I'm looking forward to the most!

With so many participating vendors, browsing through each one on site can take more time than you expect,

3. Bread Pilgrimage Tips from My Personal Experience Last Year

The biggest lesson I learned from going last year was that if you just show up without a plan, you won't be able to get all the bread you want...
It's much more efficient to tackle the popular booths first, and then explore the rest.
Especially if there are several bakeries you want to visit,
make sure to capture the booth locations as soon as the event map is released.

**And surprisingly, an essential item to bring is a cooler bag!**
Last year's festival was held around a similar time,
on October 18th,
and it was surprisingly warm during the day.
When you're waiting in line after buying several breads,
you'll inevitably worry about keeping items with cream or whipped cream fresh.
Especially if you plan to buy several cream-filled breads or refrigerated desserts,
I highly recommend bringing a cooler bag instead of a regular eco-bag.

Also, make sure to bring along some water or coffee.
When you find yourself waiting in line at the popular booths,
you'll be surprised how thirsty and tired you can get! Trust me on this. 😅

This year, since the venue has expanded,
I'm really hoping it will be more comfortable than last year,
but as it's Daejeon's signature festival, expect a crowd!
So, you should definitely go prepared for a bustling atmosphere! 😄
Save the booth numbers of your must-visit bakeries
→ Prioritize popular booths first → Prepare a cooler bag
If you keep just these three things in mind,
your 2026 Daejeon Bread Festival bakery adventure
will be so much smoother and more enjoyable! :)
