Ever since my IMAX review post back in 2023, I've watched countless movies at Chuncheon CGV IMAX.

Recently, I caught the premiere of Spider-Man: Brand New Day and Christopher Nolan's latest, Odyssey, on opening day. The IMAX immersion was absolutely incredible, so I'm excited to update my Chun-IMAX viewing experience!

Booking IMAX tickets can vary in difficulty depending on the movie. Here's a quick rundown based on my recent experiences:

F1 The Movie: Easy to book

Demon Slayer - Mugen Castle Arc: Medium difficulty

Spider-Man: Brand New Day: Medium-High difficulty

Odyssey: Very High difficulty

Everyone's been trying to catch Nolan's Odyssey in IMAX because it utilizes IMAX film. However, it's widely known that no theater in the country can truly reproduce the full scope of Odyssey's visuals. Still, that doesn't stop us from trying!

Even so, I knew Odyssey would be best on the massive IMAX screen, so I booked my tickets a few days before opening. I personally prefer rows F and G, and luckily, there were still seats available in row F, so I snagged one.

Chun-IMAX Seating Comparison

Based on the movies I've seen recently, here are my seat recommendations:

Rows F, G (Ultimate Immersion):

In my opinion, the absolute best seats at Chun-IMAX are hands down Rows F and G.

When you sit in rows F-G, the epic scale of the Trojan War and the trials of the gods fill your entire field of vision 🫪. It felt like I was literally plunged into the ocean and caught in the storms on screen. The visual impact and immersion were no joke!

The Spider-Man action scenes were fantastic on the big screen, and being in the center rows meant the sound balance was absolutely perfect!

Rows H, I (Comfort is Key):

If you prefer a more relaxed viewing experience, where you're not completely overwhelmed by the screen but can still appreciate the overall composition, then rows H-I are your perfect match.

These seats offer a comfortable view of the entire screen without any neck strain. It's a truly pleasant spot to enjoy your movie.

Chun-IMAX Downsides

For the true IMAX veterans, row E could also be a good option. Any further forward, and the screen ratio might become a bit too much… 🫣

Another minor downside is that Odyssey has a runtime of almost 3 hours. When watching from rows F or G, you might experience some neck and eye fatigue towards the latter half of the movie from looking up constantly. Haha!

Overall Review & Wrap-up

If you want to experience Nolan's signature direction and overwhelming visuals to their absolute limit:

Go straight for the center seats in Row F or G!

If you prefer to watch a long movie comfortably without fatigue:

Choosing Row H or I is a much smarter option!

If you're short on time or booked late:

Avoid the very front rows (A-D) as they'll strain your neck. Instead, aim for the back sides or any row after I!

While Chun-IMAX might not be as vast or overwhelming as Yongsan IMAX, it definitely delivers a rich, immersive experience that perfectly fills your field of vision. That's why I highly recommend Chun-IMAX too! 🫧🩶
