Among them, Cheonjeyeon Falls, nestled within the Jungmun Tourist Complex, is unique. It features three distinct waterfalls in succession, and knowing which ones to explore beforehand can significantly help you plan your route efficiently.

Having visited myself, I can tell you that the atmosphere and walking difficulty for each of the three falls vary quite a bit.

Personally, I found Waterfall 1 surprisingly the most satisfying, while Waterfall 3, with its long path and numerous stairs, definitely requires you to consider your energy levels.

A Candid Comparison of Cheonjeyeon's Three Waterfalls

Waterfall 1 | Impressive, Even Without Water

Typically, Waterfall 1 is a dry stream unless there's been recent heavy rain.

However, during my visit, even without flowing water, it was the most captivating of the three waterfalls.

Even without a cascade, the unique columnar joint cliffs surrounding it, combined with the emerald-hued pool, create a truly distinctive landscape.

If you're expecting a powerful, gushing waterfall, this might not be what you envision, but for appreciating Cheonjeyeon's unique geological features, Waterfall 1 is incredibly striking.

Waterfall 2 | For a Classic Cascading View

Cheonjeyeon Waterfall 2 is your classic, year-round cascading waterfall.

While Waterfall 1 offers unique geological charm, Waterfall 2 delivers the refreshing, traditional waterfall scenery most people imagine when thinking of Jeju's falls.

Path to Waterfall 2 / There are quite a few stairs, but it's manageable!

The walk here is also less demanding than the trek to Waterfall 3, so if you're visiting Cheonjeyeon, I highly recommend including Waterfall 2 in your itinerary.

Waterfall 3 | Recommended Only If You Have Plenty of Energy

To reach Waterfall 3, you'll need to pass Waterfall 2 and then descend quite a distance below the Seonimgyo Bridge.

While the water flow here is generally abundant, the **steep stairs and extended walking path make it quite a strenuous journey.** Personally, I found the view of the waterfall itself didn't quite justify the time and energy spent getting there.

In photos and videos, it might look larger due to zooming, but in reality, the waterfall appears quite distant.

**If you're short on time or visiting during the peak summer months, there's no need to push yourself to reach Waterfall 3.**

Don't Skip Seonimgyo Bridge, Even if You Skip Waterfall 3

Along the path towards Waterfall 3, you'll encounter the beautiful Seonimgyo Bridge, famously associated with the legend of the Seven Nymphs.

Looking north, you can see Hallasan Mountain.

From the bridge, you'll be treated to panoramic views of the Seogwipo coastline and the lush forests of the Jungmun area.

The scenery is quite spectacular, so even if you decide not to venture all the way to Waterfall 3, I highly recommend making a stop at Seonimgyo Bridge.

This route takes approximately 20-30 minutes and, in my opinion, offers the most efficient and rewarding experience.

If you opt for this complete course, it's best to set aside at least 40 minutes or more.

Be aware that Cheonjeyeon Falls features many stone and wooden stairs, making it challenging for strollers and wheelchairs. If you're traveling with elderly companions or visiting during the hot summer, carefully consider whether to include the trek to Waterfall 3.
