Cafe Bimi Jeonju Review: Aesthetic Coffee & Desserts
Looking for the trendiest spot in Jeonju? Cafe Bimi offers stunning views of Jeollagamyeong, mid-century modern vibes, and incredible artisan desserts.

Could this be the trendiest spot in Jeonju right now?
I recently visited Cafe Bimi, located right across from the historic Jeollagamyeong.

Originally a beloved coffee spot in Dongmyeong-dong, Gwangju,
Cafe Bimi has embarked on its second journey right here in Jeonju.
With a serene view overlooking the historic Jeollagamyeong,
it promises a sensory experience where visual aesthetics,
specialty coffee, and gourmet desserts
harmoniously come together.

Here is a quick preview of Cafe Bimi's stunning dessert lineup!
Beautiful Flavors at Cafe Bimi
The Interior & Vibe

The space is filled with highly curated, mid-century modern furniture
that you would expect to see in a high-end design showroom.
Every single table offers a completely unique vibe,
showcasing the incredible effort put into the lighting, chairs, and tableware.

From the bright window seats overlooking Jeollagamyeong to the cozy back corners,
it was hard to decide where to sit.
(To be honest, my favorite spot was a large communal table, which felt a bit too big to sit at alone!)

The open kitchen where they bake their pastries is visible,
and the main coffee bar is absolutely immaculate.

Wait, if I had known they had an Oasis jersey on display,
I would have worn mine! What a cool touch.
Does the owner know good music? My appreciation for this place instantly went up.

I couldn't stop taking photos of this beautifully styled space.
(Arriving right at opening time is definitely the way to go!)
The Menu & Exquisite Dessert Lineup

They offer classic espresso drinks, non-coffee options, teas,
and a curated list of hand-drip coffees.
Even though the summer weather was quite warm,
I wanted to truly experience their coffee craft,
so I ordered a hot cup of the Bimi Blend.

They have classic French treats like galettes, financiers, and madeleines.

The Mille-feuille Vanille looked absolutely divine.
The fresh peach dessert was still being prepped when I ordered,
so unfortunately I couldn't try it.
But seeing it stocked in the showcase as I was leaving made me want to run right back in!
It had a gorgeous, mouth-watering visual.

They also feature whimsical creations like the "Coco Mango" and "Soleil" that look just like fried eggs!

And they had two varieties of Mont Blanc:
Chestnut Chocolate and Raspberry.
I loved how diverse and creative the dessert selection was.

They also sell signature drip bags to take home.
I found the drip bag prices incredibly reasonable—
unlike some trendy cafes where a single drip bag costs almost as much as a freshly brewed cup (~$4 to ~$5)!

Watching the owner meticulously brew coffee at the drip station was a treat.
He seemed a bit introverted, so I didn't want to stare too closely
and quietly headed back to my seat.
Honest Taste Test & Review

I had hesitated slightly about ordering a hot coffee in this weather,
but the indoor air conditioning made it perfectly comfortable.
Then, a wonderful surprise happened!
The owner kindly brought over a small, complimentary glass of iced Ethiopian coffee
for me to try, saying it turned out exceptionally well today.
It was actually my second-choice option when ordering—
did he somehow read my mind? I was thrilled!

Here is my order: the Bimi Blend and the Raspberry Mont Blanc.
Since the Bimi Blend has prominent berry notes in its flavor profile,
I chose this dessert to match.
The coffee-and-dessert pairing was absolutely phenomenal.

As someone who absolutely loves tart, refreshing flavors,
I adored the rich raspberry purée flowing inside.
My only tiny critique is that I wished the outer cream
had just a touch more tanginess to match the core.
While I never visited the original Gwangju location,
the name and atmosphere of this place instantly reminded me of a legendary cafe
I visited years ago during a trip to Fukuoka, Japan: "Cafe Bimi."
I couldn't help but ask the owner about it,
and he confirmed that he had indeed lived in Japan and drew major inspiration from that very cafe!
My long-standing curiosity was finally solved!
Even on a weekday morning, Cafe Bimi filled up with eager guests almost instantly.
Since weekends are known to have long queues, I highly recommend visiting on a weekday morning right at 11:00 AM to enjoy this beautiful space in peace.
