✔️ Menu Ordering Tips & Prices |
✔️ My Honest Review of Boudin Bakery Cafe |
Let's dive in!
1. Boudin Bakery's San Francisco Location

If you've ever researched a San Francisco trip, you've probably heard countless rave reviews about Boudin Bakery and its famous clam chowder.

There are actually several Boudin locations across the city. You'll find two branches just around Pier 39 and Fisherman's Wharf, plus another near Union Square.

Most locations operate as smaller cafes, but the one at Fisherman's Wharf is the largest store.
Since most branches are conveniently located near major tourist attractions and popular hotel areas, you can easily visit the one closest to you.
Unless you're dead set on visiting the biggest store, any location will offer the same great experience!

I opted for the Boudin Bakery Cafe that was a bit closer to my accommodation.

2. San Francisco Boudin Bakery Menu Ordering Tips & Prices

Let's be real, prices in the US can be quite steep. That's why Boudin Bakery feels like a relatively affordable San Francisco dining option.
While you'll see plenty of locals enjoying sandwiches and other items,

most tourists flock here for the main signature dish: the clam chowder soup.

📌Boudin Bakery Ordering Tip
If it's your first time, you might wonder how much to order.
For two women, one clam chowder is usually plenty.
The portion is generous, and the bread bowl is surprisingly large!
3. My Boudin Bakery Review

The Boudin Bakery at San Francisco's Pier 39 is a bit on the smaller side inside. Luckily, they have outdoor tables, which is where we chose to sit.

I was surprised to see so many locals enjoying brunch there, even early in the morning.
Our order arrived quickly after we placed it.

We also ordered drip coffee. For about ~$3, you get unlimited refills, which is perfect to pair with your soup.

If you think you might need more bread, you can always add extra toast, like we did.
Two slices cost $3.89 and come with butter and jam, making them a delicious, simple side.

It's clear why their clam chowder is so famous—it's loaded with clams!
The soup is rich and creamy, and it pairs perfectly with the tangy sourdough bread.
Dipping the toast into the soup, then tearing off pieces of the sourdough bowl... pure bliss!

This isn't like your average bread bowl pasta you might find elsewhere; the size and flavor are truly unique.
San Francisco mornings can often be chilly, so a warm bowl of soup was incredibly comforting and hit just the spot 💕
Boudin Bakery's clam chowder remains one of the most unforgettable stops on my San Francisco trip.
