Bangdong Reservoir Musical Fountain: Romantic Nights in Daejeon 2026
Discover Daejeon's enchanting Bangdong Reservoir Musical Fountain, a perfect spot for romantic date nights with stunning 'yunseul' and vibrant shows in 2026.
It's become quite the hot spot in Daejeon lately!
Located between Daejeon and Gyeryong,
making it a great spot for a scenic drive near Daejeon,
Bangdong Reservoir Yunseul Street
opened on July 26th.
I had been putting off visiting because the weather was too hot,
but now that the evenings are pleasantly cooler, I finally paid a visit.
The 'yunseul' on Bangdong Reservoir is incredibly beautiful,
the deck path is wonderfully laid out,
and with the musical fountain,
it's even recommended as a perfect date spot!
Let me introduce you to the Bangdong Reservoir Yunseul Street Musical Fountain.

Yunseul
refers to the shimmering ripples that sparkle when sunlight or moonlight shines upon them.
In English, it's called 'Sun glitter'.

Parking: Free parking available around Bangdong Reservoir
It took quite a long time to create Yunseul Street.
It had been under construction for so long that I wondered when it would finally be finished.
And it's finally complete! Haha.
Due to ongoing road construction between Daejeon and Gyeryong these days,
traffic in this area is not smooth.
Especially during rush hour,
and even more so on weekends.
So, I made sure to visit late on a weekday.
📌 Location

The Bangdong Reservoir Musical Fountain is
located across from the entrance of O-neul Bakery in Bangdong.
📌 Parking

Parking is available on both sides of the Bangdong Reservoir Musical Fountain performance area,
towards the reservoir.
I easily found a spot since it was a weekday,
but apparently, on weekends, it gets completely packed with no parking spaces available.
Some people park at O-neul Bakery
and walk down,
while others double-park
or park quite a distance away and walk over.
However, with safety personnel stationed throughout
and parking attendants guiding traffic,
there wasn't much inconvenience with movement.

The Origin of Bangdong
Bangdong (芳洞) is derived from the Chinese characters 芳 (bang), meaning 'fragrant' or 'flower-like,' and 洞 (dong), meaning 'village' or 'valley.'
It's a place name originating from the area's terrain resembling a flower,
and is therefore known as a 'fragrant village embracing flowers.'
The recently created Bangdong Yunseul Street is
a new waterside path at Bangdong Reservoir that sparkles beautifully, just like ripples reflecting sunlight and moonlight.
Centered around the Bangdong Reservoir Musical Fountain,
a wide and long waterside deck path has been built both above and below the reservoir.
📌 Bangdong Reservoir Waterside Deck Path

I started walking from the entrance of Bangdong Reservoir Yunseul Street.
When I visited in the evening,
the Bangdong Reservoir, with the sunset painting the sky,
and Yunseul Street felt even more atmospheric,
making it a truly wonderful spot for a night date!

The waterside deck path is quite wide and smooth,
so even families with children can easily push strollers
and enjoy a leisurely stroll.

You'll find photo zones
set up all around.

The waterside deck path, facing Bangdong Reservoir,
features a glass barrier (or protective screen),
making it perfect for enjoying the beautiful reservoir views.

When the sun sets over Bangdong Reservoir,
the calm water is tinged with a reddish glow,
creating such a wonderful atmosphere
that it's absolutely perfect for a date!

Even the kids were busy pulling out their cameras and snapping photos, exclaiming how beautiful it was. Haha!

This is Bangdong Reservoir's Shimmering Path (Yunseul-geori),
which grows even more beautiful as the sun sets.

Its dazzling, sparkling appearance
truly resembles the 'yunseul' (shimmering reflections) on Bangdong Reservoir.

📌 Bangdong Reservoir Musical Fountain Viewing Plaza

The area for watching the musical fountain
has a spacious deck plaza in front,
which is fantastic for kids to run around and play. Haha!

Tiered seating for viewing the show
is set up on both sides.
On weekends, these seats fill up completely,
and people even sit closer to the front.

There's also a sculpture on the left side,
and people sometimes sit there to watch the show too.

Each tier of the staircase seating is quite spacious.
There's plenty of room for your belongings,
and I even saw some people bringing food to enjoy. Haha!
It would probably be great to watch with some simple snacks and a beer. Haha!
We watched the 8 PM evening show on a weekday.
Music starts playing from the speakers about 30 minutes before the show,
so it's a great idea to arrive early, grab a seat,
and enjoy the relaxed atmosphere.

As showtime approached,
people slowly started to arrive, and by around 7:50 PM,
quite a few had gathered.
It was relatively quiet compared to a weekend.
Many families and couples visit, but on this particular day,
it was quite peaceful. Haha!

The fountain isn't perfectly centered;
it's shifted a little towards the right.

We were in the very back seats...
I watched the show, and...
Hmm...
The tiered seating is actually quite a distance from the musical fountain.
On top of that, even though there's a screen,
the fountain itself is quite low,
so you might have trouble seeing it from the very front rows of the tiered seating.
I actually recommend the very back!
For the absolute best view, head to the very end of the deck
near the glass barrier overlooking Bangdong Reservoir.
However, if you watch from there,
people in the tiered seating behind you might not be able to see.
On the day I visited, many people moved forward to watch,
which actually made things uncomfortable for those already seated on the steps.
Despite these little drawbacks,
the fountain show was still absolutely worth it!

The songs played for the performance also vary slightly each day.
On my visit, they played:
IVE - LOVE DIVE
Sia - Chandelier
Kim Yeon-ja - Amore Party,
Shin Hae-chul (Muhan Gwedo) - To You,
BTS - Butter
A total of 5 songs were featured!

And oh, the water jets shoot incredibly high!
.gif?type=w3840)

Pop, pop, pop!
They even set off fireworks occasionally! Haha!

The dazzling lights reflecting off Bangdong Reservoir
create an even more magical atmosphere!
It's absolutely beautiful, isn't it?

However, there was one minor disappointment.
The speaker for the music
is placed only on the right side of the fountain viewing plaza,
and having just one really made the sound quality less than ideal.
I think it would have been much more moving and magnificent if the sound had come from both sides,
but with only one speaker,
the sound was just too quiet. T_T
So, when you visit, I recommend watching from the right side, closer to the speaker!

There's a slight difference between the weekday shows and the weekend shows.
On weekends,
Yuseong-i, the adorable character of Daejeon's Yuseong-gu district,
makes a special appearance in the middle of the fountain to introduce the show,
but on weekdays, it's just a simple announcement marking the beginning and end. Haha!
The Bangdong Reservoir Yunseul Street Musical Fountain
offers a refreshing fountain show during the day performances to cool you down,
and transforms into a dazzling, fantastical light show at night!
Beyond the shows, you can also enjoy the beautifully designed deck path
and the shimmering 'Yunseul' (the sparkling reflection on the water) of Bangdong Reservoir, which is simply breathtaking.
Day or night,
through all four seasons – spring, summer, autumn, and winter –
it's a truly special place to visit anytime.
Perfect for a memorable date with your loved ones, be it family or a special someone,
I highly recommend Bangdong Yunseul Street & Musical Fountain!
