I was enjoying a date in Garosu-gil when we had a little extra time on our hands. As we wandered around, I stumbled upon Balbal Vintage.
Honestly, at first, I just planned to pop in for a quick look and then head out.
But the moment I descended into the basement store, my whole perspective changed.
Compared to other vintage shops I'd visited, this place was incredibly spacious. And the interior? Impeccably clean and well-maintained.
The clothes generally looked to be in great condition, so if you're a fan of vintage apparel, you could easily lose track of time here. You'll find yourself browsing for hours!
I ended up spending over an hour exploring, and even then, it felt like I didn't have enough time.
If you're searching for a large vintage store in Seoul, especially around the Apgujeong or Garosu-gil area, you absolutely have to check this place out!

Operating since 2015, this massive premium secondhand store reportedly carries American casual, retro, streetwear, and luxury high fashion.
I initially walked in on a whim, but as I looked around, it felt less like a typical thrift shop and more like a curated brand select store with a trendy vibe!
2. Inside the Store
What surprised me most when I entered the store was its sheer size.
From the outside, I had no idea it was this big, spanning from the first basement level all the way down to the third.
In the past, I've been to cramped vintage shops where the hangers were too close and the clothes too packed, making it frustrating to browse.
Balbal Vintage, however, is incredibly spacious and comfortable, making the experience of slowly descending through the three basement levels, like a treasure hunt, truly enjoyable.
Without the typical musty smell or cluttered feel of vintage shops, the fresh first impression immediately drew me in, and I found myself mesmerized as I explored.
There are also plenty of fitting rooms, so I could comfortably try on any clothes I liked.
With vintage clothing, even items from the same brand or with the same size label can vary wildly in actual measurements and fit, making it essential to try them on.
It was great to be able to try things on without feeling rushed or self-conscious.
The staff members were also present throughout the store, offering friendly and unobtrusive assistance, making my entire hour-long shopping experience very pleasant.

The biggest reason I recommend Balbal Vintage as a luxury vintage shop is its incredibly wide spectrum of brands.
From high-end luxury brands like Chanel, Prada, Burberry, and Tom Ford to everyday casual brands like Polo Ralph Lauren and Tommy Hilfiger, a diverse range was on display.
Beyond clothing, there were also many accessories and items like bags, shoes, hats, and belts, making it a joy to explore all the fashion finds.
A particular highlight I loved was their discount sticker system.
During my visit, items with blue stickers received an additional 10% off, yellow stickers 20% off, and red stickers 30% off.
When choosing a piece of clothing, I found myself immediately checking the tag price and the sticker color.
The discounts were quite substantial, so even though it's a luxury vintage shop, the prices weren't overwhelmingly expensive.
If you look carefully, you can find plenty of great value clothing and accessories for under ~$35.
I even felt a pang of regret looking at the Burberry outerwear section, haha!

While Balbal Vintage, like any vintage shop, had some items with minor signs of wear or wrinkles, being able to physically inspect the condition and feel the fabric before buying gave me much more confidence.
After all, the natural patina of age is part of vintage's unique charm.
I find that the satisfaction of unearthing a perfect, unique item in an unexpected place like this is far greater than simply shopping for new clothes, haha!
