Words & Photos by @Seolland
Easily accessible from downtown Seoul,
the Gwangmyeong Anyangcheon Water Park near Guil Station
has already opened for the peak summer season! 🎉
Since admission is 100% free,
it's such a summer hotspot that even if you "open-run" on weekends,
it can be tough to snag a prime spot.
With the exciting news of the newly introduced water slide this year,
families with kids around Gwangmyeong are buzzing with anticipation!
So today, I'm sharing our family's honest review,
along with the 2026 hours of operation, parking tips, essential packing lists, and lunch ideas
to help you prep before you head out.

Location & Parking
Gwangmyeong Anyangcheon Water Park is located right under Guil Station
on the Anyangcheon riverbanks.
Address: 606-3 Cheolsan-dong, Gwangmyeong-si, Gyeonggi-do
Public Transit: Get off at Guil Subway Station, then walk
Parking: Temporary parking lot with about 120 spots
Parking attendants on duty at all times
Since it's an easy walk from Guil Station, our family
usually refers to it as the "Guil Station Water Park."
If you live near Guil Station, Guro, or Gwangmyeong Anyangcheon,
I highly recommend walking instead of driving!

Since it's free to the public, the parking lot
fills up incredibly fast on busy days.
We strongly recommend using public transport if possible (walk from Guil Station).

Hours, Dates, & Admission Fees
Operating Period | July 8, 2026 ~ August 23 | |
Hours | 10:00 AM ~ 6:00 PM | 50 mins of operation, 10 mins break every hour |
Closed on | Closed every Monday & Tuesday | (Closed in case of rain) |
Admission Fee | Free |
The Gwangmyeong Anyangcheon Water Park
is closed every Monday and Tuesday.
It operates daily from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM.

The fact that it's completely free is a massive perk,
but that also means it gets incredibly crowded
on weekends and in the afternoons.
We arrived late in the morning ourselves,
and almost all the prime spots under the shade canopies were already taken ㅠㅠ
Although it was tough to find a good spot because we were a bit late,
we luckily(?) managed to snag a spot with a tiny bit of shade.
If you're aiming for the best spots,
I highly recommend getting there early right at opening time!

But even if you can't grab a prime spot under the canopy,
bringing a lightweight pop-up tent solves everything!
As soon as we got home from the water park, I started looking up pop-up tents online.
If we visit again in August, I'm definitely bringing one
to create my own prime spot anywhere I want! haha
You can create your own perfect spot too!

Amenities
There's a pool float air pump station on-site,
so don't waste your energy inflating them at home or blowing them up yourself!
The restrooms are portable toilets,
but they were surprisingly clean and well-maintained,
It was super convenient to use while splashing around!
The shower facilities are just a simple outdoor setup
for a quick rinse with fresh water!
You'll definitely want to take a proper shower once you get back home!
The changing rooms are simple temporary spaces
set up inside a large, spacious tent.
The floor is just concrete.
Parents will need to go in to help younger kids change.
Even so, having changing rooms and shower facilities
right there at Gwangmyeong Anyangcheon Water Playground
made it so convenient to quickly rinse off and change right after we finished playing!

Exciting News: Brand-New Water Slides!
The biggest change at Gwangmyeong Anyangcheon Water Playground this year (2026)
is the addition of these brand-new water slides.
To be honest, our family rushed here
as soon as the playground opened just to try them out.
But we were so bummed to find out they weren't open yet!

Still, we had an amazing time playing in the existing pools
of various depths and enjoying the giant water bucket
that splashes down at regular intervals.
But once those water slides are fully up and running,
kids will have an even more diverse and thrilling summer experience here.
Hopefully, they open them up very soon!!!

Sorting Out Lunch with Delivery Food
When you're having this much fun splashing around,
doesn't lunch-time just sneak up on you?
Since we rushed out of the house in the morning,
we didn't have time to pack any lunches,
so we decided to order some delivery!

We ordered Jajangmyeon (black bean noodles) and Tangsuyuk (sweet and sour pork)
from a local Chinese restaurant, and even added a pizza to the mix.
I was a bit worried about whether they could deliver right to a water park,
but it was completely hassle-free! I highly recommend ordering delivery
to keep things easy and relaxing. haha
When ordering delivery to Gwangmyeong Anyangcheon Water Playground,
it's quickest to set the address to "Guil Station Water Playground" or "Gwangmyeong Anyangcheon Water Playground Entrance"
and coordinate with the driver over the phone!

Eating Jajangmyeon outdoors after swimming is seriously the absolute best.
Just remember to be a responsible traveler and pack up all your trash when you're done!
Don't forget!

Packing Checklist (Must-Haves for Traveling with Toddlers)
If you're heading to Gwangmyeong for a family summer escape,
especially if you're traveling with kids,
we highly recommend bringing along these essentials:
Swimwear, extra clothes, underwear, towels, wet wipes
Water shoes (aqua shoes), sunscreen,
cooler with cold water, simple snacks,
picnic mat or camping chairs
Swim diapers (a must-have for babies and toddlers)
And if you're planning on lunch, don't forget kid-friendly utensils!
Also, when heading to a water playground,
my personal pro-tip is to bring a waterproof pouch.
It's an absolute summer lifesaver for carrying wet swimsuits and clothes!
