With such beautiful weather lately, lots of people are heading to the Han River for picnics,
and that's exactly how I ended up visiting the 63 Sky Picnic Observatory!
To cut straight to the chase, it was absolutely, incredibly beautiful, so much so that
if you're planning a trip to Yeouinaru Han River, I wholeheartedly recommend adding this to your itinerary!
Since it's only a quick 1-2 minute drive from the 63 Building to the Han River,
doing the Observatory > Han River Picnic combo felt absolutely perfect!

Imagine dreamy media art,
an observatory on the 63rd floor with a breathtaking panoramic view of the Han River,
plus an exhibition zone that's an absolute photo haven,
and even the Starbucks at the exit boasts a view that's simply out of this world!
I personally visited in early October,
and I'll share all the fascinating details below! *.*

Tickets & Admission Fees
If you're planning a visit, it's definitely worth buying your tickets in advance, because
buying on-site costs ~$20 per adult,
whereas purchasing online gives you a 10% discount, bringing the price down to ~$18.
You can totally use the money you save to grab a coffee at the Starbucks on the observatory floor! 😉
What's even better is that you can purchase your tickets online on the very day of your visit,
and use them immediately, which means you can check the weather first and then decide to go!
I purchased my tickets through MyRealTrip before my visit.

By the way, the prices on other platforms like Klook are identical,
so feel free to book through whichever platform you prefer!

Once you've bought your ticket, simply show your QR code at the ticket booth,
and they'll exchange it for a physical ticket to get you in!
Don't worry, it's super easy! As long as you have your QR code ready,
the staff will personally handle everything from printing your ticket to guiding you where to go.

And get this – there's a cool machine where you just place your foot inside,
and it automatically wraps your shoes in plastic coverings!
It was great because it meant no fumbling with plastic bags on your feet!
So, it's a good idea to wear flats or sneakers instead of heels,
and since there's an area upstairs with a mirrored floor,
it's best to avoid short skirts.
My Observatory Experience
After taking the elevator up to the 60th floor,
you'll first experience the media art space,
then head up the stairs to the 63rd floor outdoor observatory,
before returning to explore the exhibition space back on the 60th floor.
In total, the experience is divided into three distinct areas.

As soon as I arrived, I was genuinely surprised, thinking, 'Wow, do we really have an observatory this incredible in our country?'
It was so well-designed and impressive!
It's no wonder, then, that the proportion of foreign tourists visiting is quite high.
Honestly, every time I've visited an observatory during my travels abroad,
I'd always wished Seoul had something similar, and now here it is – truly magnificent!

The first observatory I saw was full of a mysterious vibe, with dazzling, sparkling media art that
kept changing over time, so I ended up spending quite a while in this space alone.
As time passed, the windows opened up to reveal the city view, where you could see
Nodeul Island, Yeouido, and even Namsan Tower.
It made me think how wonderful it would be to come back in the evening for the night view!

📸 Photo Spot Tip!
It's beautiful whether you take photos sitting down or
snap a selfie using the ceiling mirror, haha!

When heading up to the 63rd floor, you can store your belongings in the lockers provided
and only take your phone with you.
Once up there, I realized it gets quite windy, so I guess that's probably why they ask you to store your bags.
Wouldn't want anything flying away!

This outdoor observatory space offers 360-degree views.
It kind of felt like the Music Bank helicopter stage, something people in their 20s and 30s might recognize... haha!

I took some mirror selfies, climbed the stairs to admire the view, and the gentle breeze made me feel truly wonderful.
It's the perfect spot to visit before it gets too cold!

Wow, this mirror ball-like space was the area I was most curious about!
It gave me a vibe similar to New York's Summit One Vanderbilt, and it sparkles even more brilliantly
when visited during sunny hours. Since the floor here is also mirrored, I'd recommend against wearing super short clothes.
Souvenir Shop

Finally, you can check out the souvenir shop before heading out.
Oh, and they had quite a few pretty merchandise items!
With things like masking tape and magnets, it felt like a place I'd absolutely
want to bring a foreign friend if they came to visit.
Starbucks 63 Sky Picnic Branch
The last stop before heading down to the exit is Starbucks.
Unlike other branches, this one offers alcoholic beverages and a wide selection of Starbucks Korea merchandise.
📍 63 Sky Picnic
60th Floor, 63 Building, 50 63-ro, Yeongdeungpo-gu, Seoul

It's so popular that getting a window seat isn't easy...
So, though it was a bit disappointing, I just admired the view and then headed down.

Down on the first floor, you'll find everything from cafes, restaurants, and souvenir shops to places for shopping!
It's truly a complex cultural space, packed with so much to see and do!
Even the convenience store is super tidy, so if you need anything before heading out for a picnic,
it's a great spot to grab your essentials beforehand.

Personally, among all the places I've visited in Seoul recently,
63 Sky Picnic was absolutely my favorite.
If you're planning a trip to Yeouido Hangang Park,
or looking for a fresh and exciting date spot in Seoul,
I wholeheartedly recommend checking this place out! You won't regret it 😉
