Looking for the best sunset view in Seoul? Explore the newly renovated 63 Sky Picnic at the 63 Building, featuring an open-air observatory and mirror rooms.

Are you looking for the perfect date spot in Seoul? The recently renovated 63 Building Observatory '63 Sky Picnic' is the answer. In this post, based on my recent visit, I'll walk you through the best viewing routes, the ideal time for sunset, a review of the 63rd-floor rooftop (opened for the first time in 16 years!), and tips for booking at a discount.
Having been there myself, I loved that if you time your visit right, you can catch both the sunset and the glittering night view. I highly recommend arriving 30 minutes before sunset, but if you want to spend plenty of time taking photos in the mirror room, arriving an hour early is even better. I've also put together some helpful tips to know before you head up to the rooftop observatory. 🙋🏻♀️

Instead of taking the outside stairs at the 63 Building,
head into the white building you see in front of you.
Go inside, and you'll find the ticket booth on your left.
Booking online with a 10% discount is
always a better deal than buying on-site,
so make sure to reserve in advance!
You can only go up using this specific elevator.
(I double-checked with the staff!)
After showing the QR code ticket I booked in advance,
we had to put plastic covers over our shoes. ▼

Following the staff's instructions, we hopped on the elevator,
and went straight up to the 60th floor.
The ticket booth hands out a pamphlet
with a QR code on it—make sure you hold onto it!
You can get your picture taken at the observatory,
and this acts as your voucher.
Just a heads-up: taking the photo is free, but printing it costs ~$7. 😇

As soon as you step off the elevator on the 60th floor of the
63 Sky Picnic—famous as one of Seoul's top night view spots—
you're greeted by a stunning mirror room.
The Immersive Media Theater (Mirror Room) features
mirrors on the ceiling, floor, and one wall,
while the other side is a massive floor-to-ceiling window offering sweeping views of the Han River.
The background changes in sync with the music,
and it's honestly much more beautiful in person!
👗 Dress Code Tips Solid colors like white, black, or bright tones work best. Short skirts aren't recommended since the floor is mirrored. (Complex patterns can look a bit chaotic with all the reflections!) |
|

Right next to the mirror room is the immersive theater,
where you can watch a video synced to music.
While it's not a massive cinematic experience,
the 3D-like visuals provide a nice,
brief moment of total immersion.

Even though I live in Seoul and visit Yeouido all the time,
it feels like it's been ages since I last came to the 63 Building!
Because it's an open-air space without glass walls
blocking the breeze, going on a clear day means
you'll be treated to breathtaking sunset and night views.
To prevent any items from falling off the building,
you are required to leave all your belongings in a locker before entering.

I used to think the 63 Building Observatory was only famous for its night views,
but the final stop of the 63 Sky Picnic was the special Aurora Ballroom.
Many reviews say it feels like a slightly smaller version of the
Summit One Vanderbilt in New York or Shibuya Sky in Tokyo.
Regardless, it's undeniably gorgeous and absolutely worth a visit.
I was slightly skeptical at first, wondering if it was really
worth the ~$16 (with the 10% discount),
but it completely exceeded my expectations.
The backdrop is stunning, and the blend of light and color
makes it incredibly easy to capture the perfect photo or video.
You definitely have to check it out at least once!

Usually, souvenir shops at major Seoul tourist attractions
can be pretty pricey, but the merchandise at
the 63 Sky Picnic is very reasonably priced.
There were plenty of great options for souvenirs or gifts.
They also have a '63 Moment' photo booth,
so snapping a commemorative picture after your tour is the perfect way to wrap things up!

Past the cafe, you'll find the elevator,
and the staff will guide you straight down to the G floor.

When thinking of Seoul observatory date spots, Namsan Tower or Lotte World Tower (Seoul Sky) usually come to mind first. But now, I'm definitely adding the Yeouido 63 Sky Picnic to the list! From the 60th-floor mirror room to the 63rd-floor rooftop and the Aurora balloon room, I completely lost track of time. It felt like a multi-cultural space where you can enjoy Seoul's skyline while snapping amazing photos.
You get a full 360-degree view of the Han River and Yeouido. If you want to unwind with a cool summer breeze, definitely save this spot for an after-work hangout or a weekend outing. And don't forget, it's much better to book online in advance for a discount rather than paying full price at the door!

We highly recommend visiting 30 minutes before sunset. If you want to spend a lot of time taking pictures in the mirror room on the 60th floor, it is better to arrive an hour before sunset.
We recommend wearing solid-colored outfits such as white, black, or light colors. Since the floor is made of mirrors, it is best to avoid short skirts as they may be reflected.
The outdoor observatory on the 63rd floor does not have glass walls, so there is a risk of items falling down the building. Therefore, you must leave all your belongings in a locker before entering.
It is cheaper to purchase tickets online in advance, as you can get a 10% discount and buy them for ~$16, compared to buying them on-site. The ticket exchange booth is located on the inner left side of the white building in front of the 63 Building.
The basic parking fee is ~$4 per hour. If you spend ~$20 or more at commercial facilities or are a visitor to the Centre Pompidou Hanwha, you can receive 1 hour of free parking on weekdays and 2 hours on weekends.
