- The festival featured approximately 120 bakery booths from Daejeon and other regions.

- Popular bakeries like Sungsimdang (성심당) often have long lines; arrive early or plan which booths to visit.

When you think of Daejeon (대전), the first thing that comes to mind is bread, right?
I'm usually quite a fan of bread,
so the Daejeon Bread Festival (대전빵축제)
was definitely one of the festivals I really wanted to experience.
But traveling from Seoul (서울) to Daejeon was quite a hassle,
with so many things to consider, from transportation to parking.
Especially with large-scale festivals like this,
even just getting into the parking lot
is often described as a battle, so I was really concerned.

That's why this time, to get to the festival grounds
and back,
I decided to use a festival bus.
It departed from Seoul National University of Education Station (교대역) at 10 AM,
and arrived around 12:30 PM
at Daejeon Expo Science Park (대전 엑스포과학공원).
We were able to arrive well before the festival started,
and with the return trip to Seoul scheduled for 8 PM,
I could really make the most of the day!
Best of all, not having to drive myself
or worry about parking was incredibly convenient! Haha.

I'll be sharing everything from the atmosphere at the 2026 Daejeon Bread Festival,
popular bakeries, waiting tips, and my review of using the festival bus.
Let's dive in!
1. Daejeon Bread Festival Basic Information
📍 Expo Science Park (엑스포 과학공원)
480 Daedeok-daero (대덕대로), Yuseong-gu (유성구), Daejeon (대전)
The 2026 Daejeon Bread Festival ran from October 17th to 18th,
a two-day bakery festival.
📢 Event Name: 2026 Daejeon Bread Festival
📢 Date: October 17-18, 2026
📢 Location: Hanbit Tower (한빛탑) area, Daejeon Expo Science Park
📢 Event Start: 1 PM
📢 Scale: Approximately 120 bakery booths

This year, not only bakeries from the Daejeon area,
but also famous bakeries from various other regions
gathered in one place.
Normally, you'd have to visit each bakery individually,
but at the festival, the charm was being able to browse
and buy a wide variety of breads all at once.

I had high expectations, especially since famous bakeries like Sungsimdang (성심당), Harehare (하레하레), Colmar Bread (콜마르브레드), Pie Garden (파이가든), and Kiki Oven (키키오븐) participated.
The event venue was divided into zones from A to E.
Since there were so many participating vendors,
it seemed like a good idea to check the location of your preferred bakeries
before visiting.

For popular spots, lines start forming right after opening,
so if you wander around without a plan,
you might actually miss out on buying the bread you really want.
Thanks to using the festival bus,
I was able to arrive before the 1 PM opening, which was great.
Even though it was a trip from far away,
I loved that I could enjoy the festival right from the start time! Haha.
2. Festival Bus Review
The best decision I made for this Daejeon Bread Festival
was taking the festival bus.
The festival bus is a service that provides round-trip transportation
from Seoul to the festival grounds.

I boarded at Seoul National University of Education Station at 10 AM.
The biggest advantage was not having to drive to Daejeon myself
or transfer between trains and city buses.
Especially since festivals attract so many visitors,
the journey itself can be tiring.
But this time, I just had to board the bus
at a designated spot and travel directly to the festival,
so I didn't have to worry about transportation at all.
Departing from Seoul National University of Education Station at 10 AM,
we arrived at the Daejeon Bread Festival venue
around 12:30 PM.

The journey took about 2 hours and 30 minutes.
Since the festival opened at 1 PM,
that means we arrived about 30 minutes before it started!
Thanks to this, we arrived before the festival began,
could check out the atmosphere of the venue,
and enter right at opening time!
Honestly, if you consider a day trip from Seoul to Daejeon
just for a festival, the travel itself can feel daunting.
But using the festival bus made the trip
much more comfortable than I expected.

Especially since I didn't have to drive,
the return journey felt less burdensome.
After walking around the festival grounds all day,
You use up more energy than you expect, right?
But if I had to drive all the way back to Seoul myself,
I think I would have been absolutely exhausted ㅠㅠ

At 8 PM,
I took the bus back to Seoul.
I was also really satisfied that I could spend plenty of time at the festival
and then head home comfortably.
For those who, like me, want to enjoy a regional festival
as a day trip from Seoul (서울),
this kind of round-trip transport service seems incredibly useful.
3. Parking & Festival Atmosphere

The Daejeon Bread Festival (대전빵축제) was held in the area around Expo Science Park (엑스포과학공원).
While there are parking lots around the venue,
parking was quite a challenge due to the sheer number of visitors.
In fact, there were many reviews saying that the nearby parking lots were already full
even before the festival officially began.
So, if you plan on driving,
I highly recommend parking as early as possible,
even before the festival opens!

The venue was packed with bread lovers
from all across the country.
Even before the festival started, many people were waiting to get in,
and after opening, long queues formed,
especially around the popular booths.
With about 120 booths participating this year,
the scale was quite impressive.

There were numerous bakery booths lined up
around Hanbit Tower (한빛탑),
which made exploring a lot of fun.
However, with so many people,
finding and moving to the specific bakeries you wanted
wasn't easy.
Especially for popular booths, the lines stretched quite long,
so you really had to factor in waiting time.
I thought a bread festival would mean leisurely browsing and buying bread,
but in reality, it was a festival where you had to be prepared for some serious waiting...
Still, seeing so many diverse bakeries
gathered in one place was a sight
you don't often get to see, which made it quite enjoyable.
4. Bakery Recommendations & Waiting

The place that garnered the most attention at the Daejeon Bread Festival was,
of course, Sungsimdang (성심당).
Sungsimdang was located in Zone A,
and being such a famous spot,
the waiting line was incredibly long.
Besides that, other popular shops like Harehare (하레하레), Colmar Bread (콜마르브레드), Pie Garden (파이가든),
and Kiki Oven (키키오븐) also had quite long waits.

Apparently, popular items sometimes sold out
around 2 PM or even earlier.
It was surprising that bread could sell out within just one or two hours
when the festival only started at 1 PM.
It really shows just how popular this year's Daejeon Bread Festival was.
However, some vendors reportedly
restocked and sold bread again in the afternoon.
So, rather than giving up immediately if your desired bread is sold out,
it might be worth checking if they'll restock.

And at the venue, there wasn't just booths selling bread,
but also an exhibition space where you could check out the signature items
from participating vendors.
If you're wondering what bread to buy,
it might be a good idea to browse the exhibition first,
then go to the specific shops you're interested in.
What I realized through this festival is that
instead of planning to visit every popular bakery,
it's better to decide on a few must-try breads
beforehand.
Because there are so many people,
it's hard to casually browse every single booth.

Especially if you're visiting with friends or family,
splitting up to wait in line for different bakeries
could be a great way to save time.
However, please note that the waiting times for each booth and product sell-out situations
constantly change depending on when you visit,
so it's best to consider this as a general reference.
5. What to Prepare & Insider Tips

The Daejeon Bread Festival (대전빵축제) this time was an outdoor event,
so preparing for the weather was essential.
Especially on Saturday, the sun was strong and temperatures were high,
so waiting in line was quite hot 😭
Since the event venue is centered around a large plaza,
there were areas with insufficient shade.
So, if I were to visit a festival like this again,
I think it would be a good idea to definitely bring
a hat, a parasol, and sunscreen.

I also recommend preparing water or other drinks in advance.
Once you're in line, it's hard to step out midway,
and popular booths can have very long waiting times.
It's also a good idea to bring wet wipes and tissues.
You might want to eat the bread you bought right there,
and your hands could get messy with cream or sauce!

Another important thing is your payment method.
Due to the nature of festivals, where many visitors flock at once,
mobile payments or network connections
can sometimes be unstable.
In fact, the booth I visited
had its card reader suddenly stop working,
so only cash or bank transfer purchases were possible.. haha!
Therefore, in addition to card or mobile payments,
it might be a good idea to also have a small amount of cash ready
for extra peace of mind.

If you're visiting for a day trip from Seoul (서울) like I did,
considering travel time,
it's best not to plan too ambitious an itinerary.
This time, by using the festival bus,
the travel burden was significantly reduced,
allowing me to focus more on enjoying my time at the festival! 😄
So, keep these tips in mind
when you plan to visit the 2027 Daejeon Bread Festival or other regional festivals,
and have a truly memorable experience! :)
