Recently, after a fantastic meal with friends near Euljiro,

we were on the hunt for a cafe that offered both charming ambiance

and ample space. That's when we stumbled upon 1020 Room – a true hidden gem!

Tucked away on the third floor of a building in Chungmuro's unassuming printing alley,

this cafe completely transforms the moment you step inside.

Forget the industrial exterior; you're instantly transported to a warm,

vintage European-style haven. It's a dessert paradise with an unexpected charm!

Baker-aficionados have been buzzing about this place, and for good reason:

it's the second venture from the owner of 'Fuwafuwa,' a renowned bakery in Mangwon-dong.

This spot is a must-visit for any dessert lover, and this is my honest, "paid-for-myself" review.

Exterior / Interior

Walking through the distinctive, somewhat gritty printing alley between Euljiro and Chungmuro,

you might wonder if there's truly a cafe here. But follow your instincts

(or a friend, like I did!) up to the third floor, and you'll discover a calm, exotic space

completely unlike the exterior.

Many trendy cafes in Euljiro are often cramped, especially on weekends or during peak hours,

making it hard to find a seat. However, 1020 Room is surprisingly spacious and expansive.

They offer a diverse range of seating, from sleek bar tables to cozy standard tables

perfect for intimate chats, and even plush sofa areas designed for ultimate relaxation.

We visited during a weekday lunch, and it was clear that many local office workers

come here to enjoy their coffee break. The wide-open space and generous table spacing were incredibly satisfying.

What kind of desserts does 1020 Room offer?

Stepping into the bakery section feels like entering a cozy, vintage European room.

This dedicated space is filled with warmth and delicious aromas.

Their impressive selection ranges from 'tteok-meok-chi' (a unique scoopable cheese dessert) to fruit cakes, financiers, scones,

'du-jjon-ku' (chewy cookies), butter tteok (rice cakes), and even bingsu (shaved ice desserts).

All coffee drinks can be made with decaf beans or oat milk,

so you can enjoy a cup without worry, even in the late afternoon.

My Experience

While waiting for our drinks, I thoroughly enjoyed exploring every corner of the cafe.

The tastefully curated antique furniture and vintage decor,

clearly chosen with the owner's keen eye, create a wonderfully serene atmosphere.

Since we had just finished a meal, I sadly decided to skip desserts this time

and only ordered coffee. But oh, the visual feast in the display case!

The fruit kitty roll cake, studded with fresh fruit, looked absolutely stunning.

My friend, a regular here, raves about their baked goods and the 'tteok-meok-chi,'

so a return visit for desserts is definitely on my agenda!

One side of the cafe features large windows, letting in soft, natural light.

While the view outside might be a construction site, the charming potted plants and interior design

perfectly compensate, adding to the cozy, inviting vibe.

When my vibrating coaster buzzed, I eagerly picked up my latte!

1020 Room's cafe latte had a subtle acidity and a rich, nutty flavor.

In the heart of Euljiro, cafes of this size and with such impressive interiors often come with a hefty price tag,

so I was pleasantly surprised by the reasonable cost of their coffee.

Ascending to the third floor of that unassuming printing alley reveals the cozy charm of 1020 Room!

This spot is a rare find in trendy Euljiro, boasting not only a diverse dessert lineup that carries on the legacy of 'Fuwafuwa'

(a pilgrimage site for bread lovers in Mangwon-dong) but also spacious, comfortable seating and friendly service.
