It's none other than Yuanjiacun Village (Yuánjiācūn/袁家村).

To be honest, for Korean travelers,

it's still a relatively unknown spot.

That's precisely why I'm so excited to introduce it to you!

try venturing out of the city center for just one day.

What kind of place is Yuanjiacun Village?

Xi'an Travel, China / Yuanjiacun Village

Yuanjiacun Village is a traditional village nestled in the

Guanzhong Plain, Shaanxi Province, China.

What began as a clan village where the Yuan family resided

has been reimagined into a charming blend of traditional alleys,

a bustling food street, and a handicraft experience zone.

While you might think it's similar to the Korean Folk Village,

Yuanjiacun Village is actually a vibrant community where real residents live

and operate the village themselves.

In this authentic traditional village where people live,

every alley is lined with eateries,

and the traditional atmosphere is truly alive.

It's a lively, alley-style tourist destination where you can eat, walk, and experience local culture.

Yuanjiacun Village is a National 4A-level tourist attraction,

recognized as one of China's most beautiful villages.

It was also designated as one of Shaanxi Province's first 'Famous Commercial Tourist Streets.'

Over 6 million visitors flock here annually,

generating an annual tourism revenue exceeding 1 billion CNY (approximately ~$138,686,131).

What's truly remarkable is that all of this success isn't due to external capital, but rather

it's the result of the villagers' own efforts,

making it all the more impressive.

with its grey brick alleys, red lanterns, and tiled roofs,

you'll feel like you've been transported back to a traditional village from the 1950s-60s.

The reasons for Yuanjiacun Village's popularity are:

Walking through the alleys lined with U-shaped brick houses in the Ming and Qing Dynasty style

is an incredible experience in itself,

making every corner a fantastic photo spot.

With Snack Alley, Muslim Street, Bar Street, Culture Street, and more,

each district offers a unique atmosphere.

From the alleys to the signboards and shops, the traditional style

remains beautifully preserved,

making it perfect for capturing travel-worthy photos.

Things to Know Before Visiting Yuanjiacun on Your Xi'an Trip

Yuanjiacun is approximately an hour's drive from Xi'an city center.

① If departing from the city center

Public transportation can be a bit tricky.

We highly recommend taking a taxi or booking a private car tour.

Since Yuanjiacun isn't easily accessible by public transport,

many of you might be wondering about the best way to get there.

making it a great option.

② If heading straight from the airport upon arrival

The distance from Xi'an Xianyang International Airport to Yuanjiacun

is quite reasonable, and the route for going directly is convenient,

making it a great option to include in your first day's itinerary!

If you use an airport pick-up service,

you can arrive in about 40 minutes.

Especially if your schedule is tight,

✔ Arrive at the airport on day one

✔ Head straight to Yuanjiacun

✔ Enjoy lunch, snacks, and the traditional village atmosphere

✔ Drop-off at your city accommodation

is an efficient itinerary that allows you to make the most of your time without any wasted moments!

Even I often pick up friends who are arriving in Xi'an for the first time directly from the airport,

and take them to Yuanjiacun first.

making it easy and comfortable to visit.

I highly recommend adding "Yuanjiacun"

Final Greetings

Xi'an, China Travel

Having lived in Xi'an for 3 years,

I've visited Yuanjiacun multiple times.

I've never been disappointed because it offers a chance to experience a variety of foods all at once, and the travel atmosphere is fantastic.

Of course, there are a couple of minor drawbacks.

During weekends and holidays, it gets extremely crowded,

which can make the alleys feel narrow.

Also, getting there by public transportation is difficult,

so that's something to keep in mind.

Nevertheless, there's one main reason why Yuanjiacun is so special.

It's not overly flashy, which actually makes it more memorable in the long run.

If you're planning a trip to Xi'an, China,

definitely add Yuanjiacun to your itinerary.
