1. Getting to Yeongyang Sutbul Galbi & Parking
📍 Yeongyang Sutbul Galbi
79 Bonghwang-ro, Gyeongju-si, Gyeongsangbuk-do
Yeongyang Sutbul Galbi is located in Seobu-dong, Gyeongju.
Conveniently, it was super close to the cozy hanok accommodation where we stayed on our last night—about a 1-minute drive!

They open at 10:30 AM. Since it was Saturday and we dreaded long lines, we checked out of our accommodation early and headed over for an early lunch around 11:00 AM.

There is a spacious, dedicated parking lot right next to the building, making it incredibly easy to park and walk in.
2. Exterior, Interior, and Saturday Lunch Wait Times

As soon as we walked in, we were greeted by a massive display of fresh meat. The red butcher lighting made it tricky to photograph, but the quality and freshness of the beef were absolutely undeniable.

This place is so famous that "waiting" is always a top search term alongside its name. However, we were thrilled to find no wait time during Saturday lunch.
Instead, the restaurant was comfortably bustling, with only 3 to 5 tables empty at any given time.
Since it was lunchtime, guests weren't lingering over drinks, leading to a quick table turnover.
3. The Menu at Yeongyang Sutbul Galbi

The menu is beautifully simple. The beef options are primarily split into Galbi-sal (ribs) and Chima-sal (flank), both available either marinated or salted.
For sides, you can choose from cold noodles (mul-naengmyeon or bibim-naengmyeon), warm somyeon noodles (banquet-style), or a bowl of rice which conveniently comes with a complimentary doenjang-jjigae (soybean paste stew).
What We Ordered:
1 portion of Hanwoo Galbi-sal (Marinated)
1 portion of Hanwoo Galbi-sal (Salted)
Added Later:
1 portion of Hanwoo Chima-sal (Salted)
1 bowl of Cold Noodles (Mul-naengmyeon)
4. Honest Review: We Will Definitely Be Back!

Our table was set incredibly fast. A powerful charcoal fire and a selection of simple, clean side dishes arrived in no time.

On the left: Marinated beef paired with a red chili dipping sauce.
On the right: Salted beef paired with a savory doenjang (soybean paste) sauce.
Honestly, the beef quality was so exceptional that it tasted amazing even without any sauce. But that doenjang sauce? It was absolute magic. I highly recommend grilling some garlic and dipping it in there!

It wasn't raw beef tartare (mungtigi), but the marbling was so gorgeous I almost wanted to eat it right off the plate!

Because the charcoal grill was so hot, the meat cooked incredibly fast. We grilled it in small batches, enjoying it slow and steady, almost like an omakase experience.

Seriously, this doenjang sauce is the ultimate game-changer. The seasoned scallion salad (pamuchim) in the background was also fantastic—delicate, light, and perfectly balanced to let the rich flavor of the Hanwoo beef shine through.
The marinated version was a bit too sweet for my personal taste, so next time, I’ll definitely stick to the salted cut!

We originally promised ourselves we’d stop at two portions, but we couldn't resist trying the Chima-sal (flank), so we ordered a salted portion of that too.

While the Chima-sal looked visually stunning with its perfect marbling, both my husband and I agreed that the classic Galbi-sal (ribs) was the true winner of the day.

The cold noodles (naengmyeon) were decent and refreshing. Since Gyeongju was already quite warm, the icy broth was the perfect palate cleanser to wrap up our meal.

Honestly, eating this massive, protein-packed lunch was the only reason we had the energy to tackle the hike up from Bulguksa Temple to Seokguram Grotto right after! 😂
That wraps up my honest, self-funded Saturday lunch review of Gyeongju's local favorite, Yeongyang Sutbul Galbi!
