1. Exterior & Parking Details

From the outside, you can already feel that classic Korean restaurant vibe, right?
The sign on top of the building clearly states Gyeongju Wonjo Kongguk, making it super easy to find~
The operating hours were small at the entrance, but remember, the break time is from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM, so be sure to check before your visit!
I visited around 2:30 PM, which was an off-peak time,
and thankfully, I was able to walk right in without any waiting!
Oh, and while there is parking available, it's not very spacious!
Keep that in mind if you're driving.
2. Menu Highlights

Here's a look at their menu!
They offer a wide array of delicious soy-based dishes, including Kongguksu (soy milk noodles), cold Kongguksu, and soft tofu stew!
I wanted to try a bit of everything, so I generously ordered Perilla Tofu (Deulkkae Sundubu), the signature Kongguk, Fresh Soy Seafood Pancake (Saengkong Haemul Pajeon), and even an extra fish side! Talk about a feast!
3. Interior & Ambiance

The interior features a beautiful wooden structure and plenty of natural light, creating a cozy and inviting atmosphere~
There are various seating arrangements that can accommodate different group sizes, making it comfortable for everyone, including larger parties!

A convenient kiosk ordering system is installed on each table,
making it super easy to place your order!
4. Dish Reviews

This is the Perilla Tofu (Deulkkae Sundubu)!
It comes as a full set meal, and fish is actually included by default!
I didn't realize this and ordered an extra fish, so I ended up with two! Haha!

The Perilla Tofu tastes exactly like what you'd imagine: perilla kalguksu with soft tofu added, and it's just so incredibly deliciousㅠㅠ

Especially when eaten with the accompanying dried radish kimchi (mumallangi), the flavors harmonize perfectly!

And this, my friends, is the signature Kongguk (Soy Milk Soup)!
The creamy, off-white soy milk soup looked incredibly fresh!

The Kongguk also comes with dried radish kimchi, and when you pair them together,
it adds a savory and slightly spicy kick that makes it even more delicious~!

Scooping up the Kongguk like this...
It was genuinely mind-blowingly deliciousㅠㅠㅠ
There's black bean powder (or something similar) at the bottom, so be sure to stir it well before you eat!

If you have a sweet tooth,
adding a generous amount of sugar makes it truly fantastic
ㅋㅋㅋㅋ I personally found it much better with a little extra sweetness!
It was clean and comforting, a perfect accompaniment to the meal.
A truly satisfying meal that had me finishing every last grain of rice~

This is the Fresh Soy Seafood Pancake (Saengkong Haemul Pajeon) I ordered as an extra!
The pancake was generously topped with chives and seafood!
Considering that this soy pancake uses '100% soy' instead of pancake flour,
it was quite tasty!
However, personally,
I might think twice about ordering it again next time. Haha!
5. Overall Thoughts
Gyeongju Wonjo Kongguk, opened in 1956, has been a beloved Blue Ribbon certified restaurant for over 70 years, passed down through three generations!
I can confidently say that Gyeongju Wonjo Kongguk is a truly authentic gem with a 100% intention to revisit!
The Kongguk and Perilla Tofu were absolutely outstandingㅠㅠ
I wholeheartedly recommend this place to anyone visiting Gyeongju!
