This time, I'm super excited to share my experience visiting Byeonggwajeom Asi, a charming traditional dessert cafe nestled in Gyeongju's Hwanglidan-gil district! Haha. It was a truly special place where you could savor exquisite traditional desserts and refreshing beverages amidst a beautifully traditional ambiance. 1. Exterior & Parking Information
True to Gyeongju's unique charm,
Byeonggwajeom Asi immediately impressed me with its traditional Korean architectural style and a wonderfully
nature-friendly ambiance, evident right from its exterior!
The wooden sign, beautifully carved with ‘Asi’,
harmonized perfectly with the surrounding traditional buildings –
it just felt right!
Isn't the exterior just beautifully adorned? So charming! Haha.
[Photo 4] A lovely stone staircase led up to the entrance,
surrounded by lush plants, creating a serene,
garden-like atmosphere~
The weather was absolutely perfect, with bright, shining sunlight,
making it an ideal spot for some stunning photos!
There was even a cute little wooden bench nearby,
perfect for a short rest and soaking in the views! Haha.
I visited in the peak of summer, so it was far too hot to sit outside then,
but I imagine it would be absolutely divine during autumn, wouldn't it?!
Just so you know, the building you see straight ahead is the annex,
and the main building is actually located to the right of the photo!
2. Menu
And here's a look at the menu!
I loved its clean and elegant design – super pretty! Haha.
While ordering through a kiosk is convenient, I personally
prefer interacting with staff and getting their recommendations or explanations,
so I felt a tiny bit of disappointment here ㅠㅠ.
When I first stepped into the cafe, there wasn't a single staff member to greet me! In fact, I only saw someone from the team
when they came out to tell me the cafe was closing soon!
That was a little bummer, honestly ㅠㅠ.
They also had these adorable bottled drinks with cute labels
displayed in a basket – they'd make such perfect souvenirs or gifts to take home~
3. Interior & Ambiance

created a beautifully harmonious and tidy space!
The seating was also generously spaced,
making it perfect for leisurely enjoyment. Ha!
When I visited, only the main building was open,
which was a little disappointing. T.T
If the annex had also been open,
I could have spent time in an even wider and more relaxed space...
Oh well...
There were long tables and
small wooden chairs!
The sunlight streamed beautifully through the windows,
creating such a warm atmosphere. Haha!
And the lush green plants visible outside the window
were really lovely too!
4. Menu Review
The items I ordered were:
Ashi Set (Pumpkin Milk + Pumpkin Injeolmi),
Pumpkin Bingsu,
Warm Hojicha (Roasted Green Tea)
So, those were the three items!
Since Pumpkin Injeolmi is provided as a default with all drinks,
I don't think there's a particular need to order the set. Haha!
It turns out it's the same injeolmi anyway~
The injeolmi had a great chewy texture, but
the tteok (rice cake) flavor itself was rather ordinary. Haha!
However, when eaten with the pumpkin milk,
it still paired quite well!
It was a pot of Hojicha
served with simple refreshments!
Presented neatly on a tidy tray,
it felt like I was being treated, which was a nice touch. Haha!
The radiant yellow color of the Pumpkin Milk
made it a truly beautiful drink!
I could really taste the sweet and smooth
pumpkin flavor. Haha!
My friends absolutely loved the milk!
The Pumpkin Bingsu primarily had a "Jocheong" (Korean rice syrup) flavor!
For those who don't particularly like honey-like flavors,
it might be a little disappointing. T.T
My friends weren't big fans of honey-like flavors,
so they didn't really enjoy the bingsu...
It's also worth noting that it was an ice bingsu, not
a milk bingsu.
Something good to keep in mind!
5. Overall Review
Byeonggwajeom Ashi offered
traditional desserts and drinks
in a neat and elegant hanok atmosphere!
Overall, rather than being incredibly unique,
the flavors were more about being comfortably enjoyable. Haha!
Considering everything,
there was a little bit of lingering disappointment
with some of the menu items. T.T
