If you're looking for places to visit on Yeongjongdo,
Seaside Park is a spot you'll likely come across.
Living nearby, it's a place I often visit
with my child for a stroll or just to enjoy the fresh air.
For those visiting for the first time,
there's one thing I really want to share with you.
The park is bigger than you think!
If you go thinking, “It’s a park, I’ll just park in one spot
and take a leisurely stroll,” you might find that it’s more
than just a leisurely stroll...
The Rail Bike area,
the Kids' Water Play Area,
the Foot Bath and Barefoot Trail, and
the Salt Field Experience aren't all clustered together
in one spot.
I initially thought that since it’s all one park,
the facilities would be reasonably close.
However, when you're moving around with a child,
even a slightly off-target parking spot can mean
more time pushing a stroller than actually enjoying the experience.
That's why, instead of just thinking “I’m going to the park,”
it's crucial to first decide “What are we going to do here today?”

instead of trying to pack in too many

it's better to plan your route around one or two main spots.

stretches long along the coast,
so if you think of it like a small neighborhood park,
it's easy to get your route tangled up.
That's why when choosing places to visit in Yeongjongdo,
instead of trying to see the entire park,
I recommend deciding what you want to do first.
This map is quite important for this post.
Especially since the Kids' Water Play Area and
the Foot Bath & Barefoot Path are located in different spots,
“Oh, I'll just go straight to the foot bath after playing in the water.”
instead of linking them together without much thought,
it's better to check the route first before deciding.
When you go out with kids,
the 'condition chart' becomes more important than the 'schedule chart,' right? 😂
If it were my first visit,
instead of trying to visit all four spots,
I'd pick one main place
and maybe add just one more.

If you're looking for active things to do in Yeongjongdo,
among the four spots, this course
You might want to compare them first!
The great thing is, you can move around while gazing at the ocean,
which makes it totally different from
a park primarily focused on walking.
If just walking feels a bit plain,
and you're thinking,
“Hey, I've come all this way,
I need to feel like I've really *experienced* something unique!”
then this spot is tailor-made for you.
Especially if you're traveling with little ones,
sometimes it's actually much easier to center your plans
around one key spot rather than attempting
to stroll through the entire park for ages.
Just a heads-up, though: in summer,
I usually keep a close eye on the time of day.
When that ocean breeze kicks in,
you sometimes feel like the sun isn't as scorching, right?
I totally fell for that illusion!
After taking my child out in the stroller every morning,
one day I looked down and noticed their legs were
perfectly (?) tanned a deep, dark brown.
Turns out, sea breeze and UV rays are two completely different things! 😅
So, if you're planning your visit on a beautifully sunny day,
definitely try to be mindful of the time.
Don't forget your hat, water, and plenty of sunscreen!

If you're heading here with kids in the scorching mid-summer,
your priorities will definitely shift.
If I were you, I'd make water play
the absolute main event,
even over exploring the sea.
You might optimistically think,
“Oh, the kids will be happy with just an hour of water play,”
but...
In reality, it's changing clothes,
sipping water, having snacks,
and then just when you declare 'Time to go!',
they dart back for 'just one more turn!'...
Parenting schedules always seem to stretch longer
than you plan, don't they? 😉
So, when you're planning a water play day with the kids,
it's far less stressful to skip trying to squeeze in other places.
Instead, just plan for: Water Play → Rest → A Short Stroll Nearby
This way is much less overwhelming.
Don't forget to pack your essentials!
That means towels, a change of clothes, water, a hat,
and even aqua shoes if you need them.
And most importantly,
because this is a seasonal facility that only operates in summer,
you absolutely must double-check the operating period and any potential closures
for your planned visit date.

On days when you want to take it a little easier and enjoy the breeze,
rather than the more active attractions on Yeongjongdo,
the Seaside Park Seawater Foot Bath and Barefoot Path is just perfect.
Here, you don't need to pack a ton of gear
like you would for a water play day,
nor do you need to rush to meet specific session times
like with some facilities, making the overall schedule feel much more relaxed.
If I were to use this area,
I'd probably go in the order of **Barefoot Path → Foot Bath**.
First, walk, and then soak your feet at the end—
it just feels like the right sequence, doesn't it?
Doing the foot bath first and
then walking diligently again...
It feels like being told to relax
only to be put back to work! 😂
However, since it's an outdoor seasonal facility,
it's a good idea to reconfirm its operation on the day of your visit.
It's also great for a short outing with parents,
or when you want to enjoy a simple trip with kids,
rather than a full-on experiential activity.
One important thing to remember here, once again,
is that this is not in the same location as the Children's Water Play Area.
While you can combine them on the same day,
don't plan them as "right next door" facilities.

it offers a completely different experience from a playground.
However, this is less of a
"The weather's nice today, shall we just go?" kind of spontaneous trip than

where you must first check the operating schedule and reservation availability,
it's also crucial to remember to check
the operating days and reservation availability in advance.
Imagine going all the way there,
only to hear, "It's not open today."
You might find mom and dad looking gloomier
than the kids even before they do! 😂
So, on the day you visit this spot,
I recommend making this program your main activity,
and keeping any other nearby plans short and sweet.
Having multiple things to enjoy is certainly a perk,
but for first-time visitors,
it can actually feel a bit overwhelming.

On a cooler day with family or a partner,
a rail bike ride combined with a leisurely walk nearby would be perfect.
On days when you're not up for much walking,
the Foot Spa & Barefoot Trail is ideal.
And if you're looking to add a program that's a bit out of the ordinary,
the Salt Field Experience is an excellent choice.
And if you're driving,
instead of setting 'Seaside Park' as your destination,
it's smarter to navigate to a parking spot closest to the specific facility
you plan to use today.
This is truly the most practical tip I've picked up
from visiting here multiple times.
Because the park is so expansive,
if you happen to get off at the wrong spot and start walking,
you might find yourself wondering,
"Are we just taking a stroll,
or are we actually trying to find our destination?"

And that's precisely why I don't recommend this incredible spot on Yeongjongdo
with just one blanket suggestion for everyone!
Even within the same park,
the day I went with my child for water play,
the day I rode the rail bike while enjoying the sea views,
and the day I relaxed with a foot bath
all felt completely different :)
That's why, rather than a park you visit once and are done with,
it's more like a place you can revisit,
changing seasons and purposes.
I see it more as a lifestyle travel destination
in Yeongjongdo.
