For around ~$150, I was able to enjoy hot springs even better than those at high-end Japanese ryokans! ♨️🩵
And soaking in a warm hot spring after seeing the Terracotta Army was pure bliss...

Xi'an Lintong Angsana Hot Spring Hotel
- An Angsana hotel, part of the Banyan Tree Group, it's a sizable 5-star resort hotel in Xi'an.
Located in the Lintong area, near Xi'an's Terracotta Army and Huaqing Pool, it's great for enjoying a warm hot spring bath after seeing the Terracotta Army and Huaqing Pool, and the short travel distance was a big plus.
We wanted to comfortably enjoy the hot springs and sauna in our room without needing swimsuits,
so we booked the Private Hot Spring Double Bed Room (including private garden & private hot spring).

It's a kid-friendly hotel, with various room types perfect for families with children, and there were so many options! All the staff were incredibly kind and friendly, which was really touching.
Even if you book a standard room, you can still use the hotel's hot springs. (Please check if hot springs are included with your specific reservation).

[Xi'an Terracotta Army, Huaqing Pool: 20-minute distance]

The main reason for a trip to Xi'an, Emperor Qin Shi Huang's Terracotta Army, is a bit far from Xi'an's city center (over an hour away).
So, if you stay in downtown Xi'an, you'd spend over two hours just traveling back and forth to the Terracotta Army,
To accommodate my mom's stamina (who's a bit older now),
I looked for a hotel located right near the Terracotta Army and Huaqing Pool.
And here it is: The Angsana Xi'an Lintong Hotel!
It takes about 10 minutes by car to Huaqing Palace, 11 minutes to Mount Li,
11 minutes to the Song of Everlasting Sorrow performance venue,
and about 20 minutes to the Terracotta Warriors.
Since it's a well-known 5-star chain hotel, it was so convenient that the DiDi taxi app quickly and accurately found the hotel's location even when I typed 'Angsana Xi'an' in English.
Perhaps because it's a bit further from Xi'an city center, the roads were mostly clear, which was a huge plus.
As you drive, you see a lot of pomegranate orchards, making you wonder what kind of hotel could possibly be here.
But true to China, a rural-like landscape unfolds...
then suddenly, a nice neighborhood scene appears,
and *bam*, the entrance to a luxury hotel popped into view.

[Private Hot Springs and Sauna,
Huaqing Palace & Yang Guifei's Hot Springs of the Tang Dynasty]
The Angsana Xi'an Hotel is located in the Lintong area, where Xi'an's hot springs are concentrated,
allowing you to indulge in hot spring baths with natural hot spring water, just like the Empress Yang Guifei of the Tang Dynasty once did.

The hotel itself boasts a huge hot spring,
and because I chose a room with a private hot spring and sauna,
inside the room, there's a spacious hot spring bath (where you can comfortably enjoy it in the nude, squee!),
and right next to it, a relaxing sauna.

And next to that, within the private garden, there's an outdoor shower booth where you can shower — I absolutely loved it!
As a water-lover, I cheered with joy!
Woohoo!

The room is quite spacious,
and inside the room, there's an incredibly large outdoor terrace
decorated in a Chinese garden style.
Here, you'll find a wide and substantial hot spring bath.

There's also a wet sauna like this.
(There were so many emergency buttons everywhere... they looked like buttons to generate steam in the sauna, so I had to be careful not to accidentally press them...)
The wet sauna actually felt even better because it was the kind where you fill a bucket with water yourself and pour it to create steam!!!

The hot spring temperature was between 37 and 42 degrees Celsius,
which was absolutely perfect.

This feeling, it's just like being Yang Guifei~~
At Huaqing Pool, you can see the hot spring where Yang Guifei and the Tang Dynasty emperor bathed,
but here, I can actually get into that water and bathe myself!
Legend says that the ancient Yang Guifei was so beautiful that flowers would bow their heads in shame, but she also had a strong body odor.
However, the emperor himself suffered from severe rhinitis, so they were a match made in heaven!
But even though I also suffer from rhinitis, I can still smell both fragrances and odors!
Anyway, they start refilling the in-room hot spring water at 3 PM, and it drains out by midnight.

It's always great to have fresh water just for me,
but my bath disappearing like Cinderella's carriage at midnight is a little sad...
(Though my mom apparently fell asleep even before midnight!)
✔️✔️✔️
✔️ Private in-room hot spring available from 3 PM to 12 AM,
✔️ Hotel's communal swimming pool available from 10 AM
✔️ Hotel's communal hot spring available from 11 AM (Our room type included access to the hotel's hot spring, and we were told we could use it throughout our stay / Please note this may vary by room type, so confirmation is needed)

[Friendly and Attentive 24-Hour Butler Service]
They contacted us via email even before we arrived,
and as soon as we checked in at Angsana Xi'an Hotel, they asked us to add them on the hotel's WeChat.
And from the moment of check-in, a dedicated staff member provides 1:1 butler service.
Personally, one of the reasons high-end hotels in China are unbelievably good is this
24-hour, one-on-one butler service…
Even if you don't speak Chinese, as long as you have WeChat, you can use a translator to make requests and communicate!!

And they're not just friendly over WeChat;
during check-in, they greeted us, explained everything thoroughly, and even gave us gifts!
Mr. Jiajia... (or Sana, as her English nickname) is just SO sweet!!!
If you have any questions or feel uncomfortable about anything,
you can just chat with them on WeChat.
And when our assigned butler at Angsana Xi'an heard that we were checking in, dropping off our luggage, and heading to the Terracotta Army,
she mentioned that she used to be a guide there herself! She told us to ask her anything if we had questions while we were there, and then proceeded to explain things for quite a while.

(She explained all of this verbally, right next to us, and then sent it through a translator on WeChat – how touching..🩵)
I was so touched by how sweet and friendly she was.
I knew we'd have a Korean guide at the Terracotta Army anyway, so I wouldn't need to ask her questions, but I was still so grateful for her offer.

She even complimented me, saying I looked like an idol and was beautiful
(I think Chinese people are very generous with compliments about appearance!).
She kept asking if I wanted cold water or something warm like milk because the weather was so chilly.
And even though we arrived at the hotel before check-in and headed straight to see the Terracotta Army,
they made sure our luggage was brought to our room by check-in time.

As expected of a Chinese hotel, there was so much welcome fruit, and plenty of water too.
All the welcome fruit was delicious!

All the drinks in the mini-fridge here are complimentary too!
The welcome fruits were all delicious,
and there was plenty of water and so many towels!!
They'd check in periodically to make sure we weren't uncomfortable,
and I worried, "When does this person ever sleep?"
but I was relieved when I heard our assigned butler also goes to bed around 11 PM.
Of course, even when our butler is off, it seems you can still communicate requests to the hotel via WeChat.
?

Beyond our assigned butler, all the other hotel staff were incredibly kind, attentive to every detail, and always ready to help.
My mom even asked if people in China are normally this thoughtful and friendly.
(While this might be exclusive to 5-star hotels, I explained that it also seems to be the inherent nature of Chinese people to be friendly and attentive,
perhaps because there isn't a formal honorific system in their language, they tend to be more approachable and caring.)
My mom absolutely loved it, and I felt so proud that she was touched by the kind of 'mother bird'-like hospitality that you don't typically find in hotels in Korea. Hehe!
Oh, and even though it's the same Angsana hotel brand, the Angsana Xi'an hotel was even more proactively helpful and welcoming than other Angsana hotels in different regions, which made us even more grateful. 🩵
[Kid-Friendly]
While Xi'an, from a Korean perspective, often feels like a destination primarily for group tours, filial piety trips for parents, or historical excursions,
Angsana Xi'an Hotel turned out to be an incredibly kid-friendly hotel!

Personally, I think these quieter Chinese cities are much better for traveling with children than places like Guangzhou.
That's because they're less bustling, so there are fewer cars and motorbikes,
and in quieter neighborhoods, people seem to be much more relaxed and kind to children.
(Zhuhai is still the absolute best for kids, though!)
There are even room types specifically designed for kids that little ones adore,
and even in our room, which was just a private hot spring room type,
they had cute little slippers for babies readily available,
and in the bathroom, they even had this adorable little baby toothbrush set! So cute…
And at meal times, there were a few Chinese kids who sounded like they were attending an English kindergarten,
which was both amusing and endearing.
Suddenly hearing English words — hahahaha!
There are playrooms where kids can go,
outdoor play facilities, and it was really impressive that they continuously had kid-friendly amenities available in the hot springs and swimming pools.

[Room Condition]
The Angsana Xi'an private hot spring room type we stayed in
was a bit of a walk after check-in,
but it was great because it was super close to the hot springs and swimming pool.

While the hotel itself isn't brand new, it's incredibly well-maintained,
and was clearly built with a focus on cleanliness from the start.
![Xi'an Hotel Recommendation: Angsana Lintong [1] | A 5-star hotel with a private hot spring and sauna for around ~$148? | Enjoy the Concubine Yang Hot Spring near the Terracotta Army and Huaqing Palace](https://rmrjnibxulbdixuqguwc.supabase.co/storage/v1/object/public/post-content/imported-naver/image-1793732311145-1793732311145-922bde85.jpg)
You'll find touches reminiscent of Chinese imperial palaces or traditional gardens throughout the building,
but it's never over-the-top.
Overall, including those amenities,
the hotel's interior feels sophisticated and chic.

The room type we stayed in was...

It featured a spacious living room, a generously-sized bedroom, a large, elongated bathroom, plus an outdoor garden with
a private hot spring and sauna.
The large window from the living room overlooking the garden was a definite highlight,
and while I was a little worried it might look dated in photos,
seeing it in person, the combination of natural wood textures and traditional Chinese garden elements
made it feel fresh and wonderful, not dated at all!

Plus, the high ceilings in the room made the space feel much more open and airy,
and even larger than it was.

The bathroom's shower booth also allows you to step directly out into the garden,
and having an outdoor shower option was absolutely fantastic!
We visited in October, so it was quite chilly,
and I didn't think we'd use the outdoor shower.
But after our hot spring soak, my mom and I had a bit of a playful disagreement (maybe I got a little heated!),
and it actually made me feel warm enough that the cool outdoor shower was perfectly refreshing and lovely.

The bedroom features a massive bed, and outside the bedroom window,
a lush green garden view just spills right in.
The bed was incredibly cozy – loved it!

Naturally, there was no cigarette smell (though I highly recommend checking for non-smoking rooms and requesting smoke removal when booking any hotel in China, just in case!).
It's worth noting that these private hot spring rooms sometimes aren't available for booking on certain days, so I recommend checking availability for your desired dates!
