The Shenyou Legend Show at Huaxia City (神游传奇)
A Must-Visit in Weihai
Eunsu's latest travel adventure – where are we off to this time?
I've just experienced the **Shenyou Legend Show** at Huaxia City,
one of Weihai, China's most iconic attractions.
With so much to explore during the day, many visitors unfortunately miss
the evening Shenyou Legend Show.
That's why I'm excited to share my firsthand review, detailed seating information,
and even how to book your tickets, all in one place!

1. Shenyou Legend Show Information
The Shenyou Legend Show isn't just a stage performance;
it's a colossal real-scenery spectacle, using actual mountains and a lake as its stage.

It's even celebrated among China's tourism industry and locals
as one of the 'Top 3 Grand Outdoor Real-Scenery Shows'.
The Weihai Shenyou Legend Show (Huaxia City),
Hangzhou Songcheng Romance Show, and Beijing Golden Mask Dynasty

Ticket Check-in Time | 18:20~19:20 |

Please note that to watch the Shenyou Legend Show within Huaxia City,
you'll need to purchase a separate ticket.
While it's great as an evening plan, it's also a good idea to learn about Huaxia City itself,
known as a top Weihai attraction, before you go.
I'll leave a link to the Huaxia City post at the very bottom.
2. Seat Recommendations & Price Comparison for the Shenyou Legend Show

Seats are divided into three tiers.
Seat Tier | Location | On-site Standard Price |
Premium VIP Ticket | Front Row | 459 Yuan |
Platinum VIP Ticket | Middle | 349 Yuan |
Silver VIP Ticket | Back Row | 249 Yuan |
There's about a ~$15 difference between seat tiers.
I purchased a Silver VIP Ticket.
If you compare offline and online prices,
the on-site standard price is virtually the same.
However, the reason to book online is to save time queuing during
**peak season and weekends**, and to guarantee your preferred tier without worrying about sell-outs.

At the ticket booth, you can exchange your voucher for the physical ticket to the Shenyou Legendary Show,
and also purchase tickets for the buggy (golf cart) that will take you to the performance venue.
It's 20 Yuan per person for a round trip, so keep that in mind for your visit!

When I explored Huaxia City in the afternoon,
I decided to walk from the ticket booth to the performance venue.
It turned out to be about a 15-minute walk, and there's definitely an uphill slope!
From my experience, I'd honestly say the
20 Yuan shuttle bus to the venue is absolutely worth every penny!
3. Shenyou Legendary Show Review

Right in front of the ticket booth, you'll find a gathering of buggy carts,
all ready to whisk you off to the performance venue.
When I visited, there were quite a few package tour groups,
so I couldn't hop on right away and had a short wait before boarding.

The ride only took about 5 minutes, and we arrived in no time!
Being such a renowned performance, it was clear why there were so many eager spectators.

Since it's an outdoor show held in the evening,
the weather was wonderfully cool, so there was absolutely no feeling of stuffiness.

Just show your physical ticket to the staff and you're in!
A heads-up: the entrance bridge closes once the performance begins,
so I definitely recommend visiting the restroom beforehand.

I made sure to enter 30 minutes early, and I'm glad I did!
Later on, entry can get quite crowded, and the queues tend to stretch really long.

Before the show kicks off, you'll find staff members selling snacks.
This is a super handy tip for those traveling with kids!

I grabbed a quick commemorative photo before the Shenyou Legendary Show started.
Just a note: the seats aren't exactly spotless, so manage your expectations!

Before the main event, there's even an exciting opening ceremony where a master's original calligraphic artwork is
auctioned off on the spot!
⭐ And now, the show has begun! |
The performance beautifully weaves together tales of mythical Chinese figures: Pangu (creator of heaven and earth),
Nüwa (creator of humanity), Shennong (god of agriculture), and
the captivating legends of Weihai's sea.

As soon as I settled into my seat, I was truly awestruck by the sheer grandeur of the stage.
The moment the lights dimmed and the stage came alive,
the entire atmosphere dramatically transformed!

Get ready for a unique experience: the audience seating area gently rotates a full 360 degrees!
Even though I knew this beforehand, that moment of rotation still sent a thrilling shiver down my spine.

While photos can capture a glimpse, you truly need to be there in person to
soak in the incredible live atmosphere and truly feel its magic.
Don't fret if Chinese isn't your language!
You'll be glad to know that Korean subtitles are conveniently displayed on the right side.
While the visibility might vary depending on your seat, I personally found that even without relying heavily on the subtitles,
there weren't any parts I couldn't follow.

Sometimes, the performers even come down into the audience!

The intricate group dances performed by the actors, set against China's vibrant myths and history, were also incredibly beautiful.

The elegant and overall performance unfolding on the calm stage was truly impressive.

The performances, accompanied by magnificent music, allowed me to experience traditional Chinese culture all at once.

The harmonious blend of natural stage sets and the actors' delicate expressions created a truly unique experience.
This was the most overwhelming highlight scene of the entire performance.
A massive waterfall cascades down a real mountain right before your eyes. Can you feel the sheer scale and grandeur?
The way the stage, nature, and advanced technology harmonized as one was incredibly impressive.
Besides these, there are many other diverse scenes and stories, but I've only captured a portion in photos and videos.
I highly recommend this show! The 60 minutes flew by without me even realizing it, proving just how rich and high-quality the performance was!

4. Your FAQs Answered All at Once!
Before you go, I've compiled answers to some common questions that I also had.
Question | Answer |
Q1. Is it better to buy tickets on-site or book through Trip.com? | The Trip.com prices (Silver ~$36 / Platinum ~$51 / Premium ~$67) are a direct conversion of the on-site regular prices (249 CNY / 349 CNY / 459 CNY), so there's almost no price difference. However, to reduce waiting time on-site and avoid sold-out shows, we recommend booking online in advance. |
Q2. Is there a big difference between seat classes? Which seats do you recommend? | There's quite a significant difference in distance from the stage depending on the class. Silver VIP offers a view of the overall scale from further away, while Platinum and Premium seats provide a much more vivid experience of the performers' expressions, wire actions, and even the water spray. If you want both good value and an immersive experience, I recommend Platinum or higher. |
Q3. Is the 20 CNY night shuttle bus ticket essential? | I highly recommend purchasing it. The distance from the ticket office entrance to the performance venue is quite far, and it's an uphill walk, so walking will consume a lot of energy. A single 20 CNY ticket allows for round-trip use, taking you to the venue upon entry and back to the entrance upon exit. |
Q4. Do children need a separate ticket? | Children under 1.2m (approx. 3.9 feet) can enter for free. However, they must sit on an adult's lap, and no separate seat will be provided. If a separate seat is required or if the child is taller than 1.2m, a regular ticket must be purchased. |
Q5. Are there Korean subtitles? Can I understand it even if I don't know Chinese? | While Korean subtitles are displayed on the side of the stage, they can be difficult to see. This performance isn't dialogue-heavy; it's centered around visual effects like the 360-degree rotating audience seating, a massive waterfall, a giant dragon emerging from the lake, and wire actions. So, even if you don't know the language, you can fully enjoy the spectacle. |
Q6. It's an outdoor performance; does it get cold at night? | As it's an outdoor stage nestled between mountains and a lake, the temperature drops and winds pick up in the evening. Even in mid-summer, it's a good idea to bring a light jacket or windbreaker. |
Q7. Do you get very wet if you sit in the front row? | When the large waterfall erupts or the dragon emerges from the lake, a fine mist of water may splash into the front VIP seats. It's not enough to soak your clothes, but if you're sensitive, bringing dry tissues or a small towel might be helpful. |
Q8. How long before the show should I arrive? | The performance starts at 7:40 PM, and ticket checking begins at 6:20 PM. Considering shuttle bus waiting and travel time, it's safest to arrive at the ticket office entrance between 6:50 PM and 7:00 PM, which is about 40-50 minutes before the show starts. |
Q9. Is it easy to get a taxi back to the city center after the performance? | Immediately after the show ends at 8:40 PM, many people exit at once, so it might not be quick to catch a taxi. However, when I called a Didi taxi, it arrived in about 10 minutes. |
Q10. Is it a good idea to visit Huaxia City during the day and then see the show at night? | Daytime admission and the night show require separate tickets. The complex is quite large, and daytime sightseeing can be physically demanding. So, if your schedule is tight, I recommend focusing solely on the Legend Show in the evening. |
Knowing just this much should help you navigate the Legend Show without much trouble.
I hope this review makes it easier for anyone planning to visit Huaxia City and its attractions to book their tickets comfortably!
