One of the biggest draws of traveling to Weihai, China, is definitely the incredible value for money you get on accommodations. Compared to other popular tourist cities, I was able to stay in a high-quality hotel at a surprisingly affordable price.
When searching for a place to stay, I meticulously focused on newer hotels known for their cleanliness and excellent facilities. After comparing countless reviews, the one I finally chose was the Cheery Dragon Hotel, which opened in 2024.

Getting to the Hotel & Location Advantages
Taking a Didi from Weihai Airport to the hotel takes about 40 minutes. This hotel is conveniently located in Weihai city, boasting excellent surrounding infrastructure. While it's a little distance from the main tourist attractions, its location offers several unique benefits.
Jiulongcheng Shopping Mall: A large shopping mall is right across the street, making it super convenient for groceries and dining.
Nearby Amenities: The hotel is surrounded by restaurants and cafes, so you can easily find everything you need within walking distance.
Hanlebang Night Market: Just about a 10-minute drive away, it's the perfect spot to enjoy late-night snacks every evening.
Swift and Friendly Check-in
Hotel check-in is relatively early at 2 PM. I had planned to arrive about an hour early, just drop off my luggage, and head out, but thanks to the hotel's kind consideration, they allowed me to check in right away.
The staff were also comfortable using translation apps, making communication smooth and processing quick. When I asked if it was possible to change from a lower floor to a higher one, they happily switched us to the 14th floor. I was also grateful for the service of them carrying our luggage from the entrance to the elevator. (No separate deposit required)
There was also a gift shop on the first floor, and the prices weren't too expensive, plus the packaging was lovely, so I bought presents for my family there.
Room Condition Exceeds Expectations
The room was spacious enough for two, and as expected from a new hotel, all the facilities were brand new, making it incredibly pleasant. The view was just a city view, but even that felt wonderful in an unfamiliar place.
As a modern hotel, it was well-equipped with smart assistant features. It was incredibly convenient to be able to turn off the lights or open and close the curtains while comfortably lying in bed. The toilet and shower were separated, and the sink was also outside the main bathroom area, which was very practical.
They provided welcome fruit and milk, which were absolutely delicious, and they even left more milk the next day during cleaning.
Breakfast & Facilities
We booked with the breakfast included option, and it's served buffet-style on the first floor. The restaurant is spacious and pleasant, with an incredibly diverse spread including Chinese, Korean, and Western dishes.
Local-style porridge and dumplings suited our taste perfectly, and there was plenty of Korean food like Gimbap and Kimchi. My favorite stir-fried vegetables were available in various types, so I could eat to my heart's content. During the meal, if new dishes came out, staff would even walk around and serve them directly onto our plates – what a thoughtful service! The only thing I wasn't thrilled with was the coffee, haha.
They also said the gym and laundry room were free to use, but I completely forgot to check them out, so no photos there!
Outside the window, there's a Roti Buns Cafe with "Roti Buns Cafe" written in huge Korean letters. It also says they sell 'snow flower bingsu' (shaved ice dessert) below. I just couldn't resist, so I stopped by on checkout day, haha. I'll share more about the Roti Buns Cafe later!
The Ultimate Value-for-Money Cherry Dragon Hotel
The most satisfying aspect of this trip was definitely the incredible value for money of the accommodation. We booked a Superior Standard Room, including breakfast for 2 nights, for a total of ~$93 on Trip.com. That's just a little over ~$44 per night, and after seeing the actual hotel quality, this price felt absolutely unbelievable.

Finding the Perfect Weihai Accommodation for Your Travel Style
Weihai is quite a large city, and the nature of your trip can completely change depending on your accommodation's location. Before my trip, I was a bit lost trying to choose because I didn't know the geography well, but after experiencing it myself, the characteristics of each area became clear, so I've summarized them below.
On this trip, I enjoyed 2 nights at Cherry Dragon Hotel and 1 night at Tianmu Hot Spring Resort. But if I were to plan the itinerary again, adding an extra night near International Beach would be a fantastic choice!

Looking back, the Cherry Dragon Hotel was truly the best value-for-money choice that still brings a smile to my face. However, considering the sightseeing routes, it's also a great idea to mix in an ocean-view accommodation near International Beach for one night. Weihai, where you can enjoy fantastic stays at affordable prices, proved to be a travel destination with even better value than Jeju Island. I wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone looking for a luxurious retreat on a reasonable budget.
