Today, I'm finally bringing you my review of
T'way Air Flight TW405 (Boeing 777-300ER)
heading to Rome, Italy!
With T'way's new direct long-haul route to Europe,
it's now possible to visit Rome affordably.
And we're talking about a price tag of just around ~$690!
Since this is a long-haul route operated with a large aircraft,
I'll meticulously cover everything from how to use Terminal 1 and seating tips,
to the often-confusing baggage regulations.

Airfare Price
While prices vary depending on the season and booking time,
T'way Air round-trip flights to Rome start from around ~$690 on Naver Flights,
making it a very attractive price for a direct flight.

T'way Air operates
from Incheon International Airport Terminal 1 (T1)!
Mistaking terminals can lead to the disaster of missing your flight,
so be sure to confirm your destination
as Incheon International Airport Terminal 1 before departure.
For those using their own cars,
I recommend using the T1 long-term parking lot or
booking the official valet service in advance.
During peak seasons or weekends, parking can be very congested,
so it's advisable to book valet service at least two weeks in advance.

Baggage Procedure & Advance Seat Check-in Method
I sent my luggage in advance from the Seoul City Airport Terminal.
Typically,
upon arrival at the 3rd floor departure hall of Incheon Airport,
you'll complete check-in and drop off your checked baggage at the T'way Air counter.
✅Incheon Terminal 1 Congestion on a Thursday in August
My flight was at 12:30 PM on a Thursday, so I arrived at the airport around 10 AM,
and there were fewer people than I expected.
Immigration clearance didn't take long either.
☑️ Advance Mobile Check-in Tip
✅Opening Time
T'way Air's online/mobile check-in
opens 24 hours before departure.
Make sure to access T'way check-in 24 hours prior to select your seat.
✅Pro Tip
To save on airfare, I usually don't opt for paid seat selection when purchasing.
You can reserve standard economy seats for free,
including semi-premium seats (excluding some special seats like emergency exit rows).
So, I highly recommend setting an alarm for 24 hours before departure
and quickly snatching up a good seat!
✈️ Aircraft Seating & In-flight Review (TW405 / B777-300ER)
The TW405 flight I took was scheduled to
depart Incheon at 12:35 PM and
arrive at Rome Fiumicino Airport (FCO) at
7:15 PM local time.
✅Our Actual Flight Experience
I arrived a bit earlier than I expected,
and we landed around 6:40 PM.
By the time I collected all my luggage and cleared immigration,
it was about 7:10 PM.
✔️ Seat Pitch & Comfort
The Boeing 777-300ER
plane felt brand new,
very comfortable and clean.
✅Seat Pitch
Compared to the flight to Croatia I took last year,
the seat pitch was a bit narrower.
However, we managed to snag semi-premium seats by checking in right at the 24-hour mark.
Since this section was separated and only about 40 people were seated here,
we didn't have to worry about the overhead bins filling up.
It was a three-seat window row,
and with the adjacent seat empty, I even managed to achieve a 'lie-flat-conomy' experience! : )
Looking at the rows behind, quite a few people also succeeded in their lie-flat-conomy.
✅Premium Economy vs.
Standard Seats: The Difference
Our seats reclined about 5 degrees.
They were pretty much fixed in their upright position,
but the standard seat angle wasn't too uncomfortable,
so it was fine.
If you prefer a seat that reclines more,
adding about ~$124
for a Premium Economy seat might be a great option.
The legroom there seemed much better!
✅In-flight Entertainment
While monitors are installed,
VOD streaming services are not available.
Before your flight, make sure to download content from Netflix,
Coupang Play, or similar services to your tablet or smartphone for offline viewing!
✅Power Outlets
With 220V power outlets and
USB charging ports located beneath the seats,
I could keep my phone and tablet charged throughout the flight
even without a power bank.
Arriving in Rome
with a fully charged device felt incredibly reassuring.
✔️ In-flight Meal Service
T'way long-haul flights typically offer two meal services.
✅First Meal
Served within 1-2 hours after takeoff (Bibimbap, Pork Chop Steak)
✅Second Meal
Served 2-3 hours before landing (Beef Porridge,
Scrambled Eggs & Sausage )
We opted for the brunch.
Please note that while bottled water is provided complimentary,
other beverages, beer, and snacks
are available for purchase (cash/card).
We ordered a can of beer midway through the flight. Ha ha!
A refreshing can of beer for ~$3!
🧳 Checked and Carry-on Baggage Regulations
Here’s a breakdown of the detailed baggage regulations, which can be a bit tricky for long-haul European trips!
Checked Baggage (Luggage sent to cargo)
Economy Class Standard: Each passenger is allotted 15kg (1 piece) as a basic allowance.
✅Weight Pooling Caution
While T'way allows for weight pooling and sharing of luggage items among passengers on the same booking,
you absolutely must adhere to the maximum weight limit per individual bag (e.g., no single bag over 30kg)
and the item count restrictions.
It's best to distribute the weight evenly
across your suitcases when packing.
We aimed for 15.X kg,
but one of our suitcases rounded up to 16kg.
Thankfully, they still let it through!
Perhaps because the flight wasn't full,
this was allowed for our departure from Incheon,
but they strongly advised making sure we meet the exact limits
when departing from Rome.
Carry-on Baggage (Luggage you bring onboard)
One small carry-on suitcase or backpack
+ one personal item (laptop bag, handbag, etc.),
for a total of under 10kg.
Be mindful that if the number or weight of your bags increases significantly due to duty-free shopping,
you might face restrictions at the boarding gate.
When departing from Incheon, concerning the number of carry-on items,
there wasn't generally any special inspection.
T'way Pro Tip!
With ICN SMART Pass for
Fast Boarding
I actually just found out that using the ICN Smart Pass allows for
fast boarding with T'way!
Since the boarding line is significantly shorter,
if you're planning to fly with T'way Air (Trinity Air),
I highly recommend giving it a try!
To use the ICN Smart Pass, simply download the app,
sign up -> register your passport -> register your boarding pass,
complete these steps, and you're all set for immediate boarding!
🏛️ How to Get from Rome Airport to the City Center (Termini Station)
Once you arrive at Rome Leonardo da Vinci
Fiumicino Airport (FCO),
the most popular way to reach Termini Station,
right in the city center, is by taking the
Leonardo Express (a direct airport train).
You can travel quickly and comfortably in about 32 minutes,
with no stops along the way.
Having used it myself, I found that departure times could be a bit delayed,
so it wasn't perfectly punctual. However, it's still the
fastest and most convenient way to reach the city center,
so I definitely recommend it!
Pro Tip: Buy Tickets Using the Trenitalia App!
After clearing immigration and exiting the airport,
make your way towards the Leonardo Express train boarding gates.
The queue to buy train tickets can be quite long,
If you download the Trenitalia app beforehand, back in your home country,
you can book tickets through the app while you're on the go,
and at the same price as the ticket machines!

We arrived around 7:15 AM and
managed to purchase tickets for the 7:38 AM train.
