Just recently, I had an incredible time at TeamLab Planets Tokyo, which exceeded all my expectations. I couldn't stop talking about it to everyone I met! That's when I heard there was a TeamLab experience in Osaka too, and I knew I had to check it out.
So, I made it a point to visit.
(Though, to be fair, I wasn't specifically traveling to see this; it just happened to be my next destination.)
While the Tokyo installation is an indoor experience, this one is entirely outdoors.

Set within a botanical garden and utilizing dazzling light installations, the exhibition takes place at night. If you have some extra time, I recommend arriving a bit early to stroll through the botanical garden before the evening show begins.
Once again, I booked my tickets through KKday. It feels like I'm using them quite often lately!
After reserving your tickets and receiving your voucher, simply head to the Nagai Botanical Garden.
There are clear signs along the way, so just follow them. In fact, even before you reach the garden, you'll spot posters for this top Osaka attraction in many places.
If you happen to visit in springtime, you might even enjoy some cherry blossoms on your walk to the entrance. (They're certainly gone by August 2026, but it's a lovely thought!)
After a brief introductory video, you'll step right into TeamLab Osaka. We were lucky with our timing and experienced almost no wait.
And then, the magic begins!
Even before the main exhibition truly starts, it's a serene pathway perfect for a leisurely stroll.
It's a bit dark, which only makes the illuminated artworks shine brighter. You can take your time walking along the lake or head straight to the main installations.
In my Tokyo TeamLab Planets post, I mentioned that the interactive 'eggs' are best experienced elsewhere, and this is exactly that place!
Their colors change constantly, transforming the entire atmosphere.
Kids absolutely love running around here, making it a fantastic family-friendly spot in Osaka. Experiencing these installations in an outdoor garden setting feels truly unique and refreshing.
This is another iconic spot, constantly shifting colors. It's truly something best experienced in person, or at least through video.
While seeing it in person is the ultimate experience, I've tried my best to capture some of the magic for you here.
Lights float on the lake, changing colors, and there are even larger 'eggs' like the ones below.
While there are distinct focal points, the real charm lies in simply taking a leisurely evening stroll and soaking in the overall ambiance.
The outdoor garden setting adds so much to the atmosphere.
In the final section of the experience,
lines of light appear in the forest as if painted with a brush. No, they actually move and come alive!

It transforms like this! Apparently, if you capture it with the app, it continues to spread and evolve, but since I visited alone, I didn't get to try that part.
I booked my tickets right here, and as you can see from the photos, it's a truly remarkable exhibition. TeamLab has definitely become a name I can trust for amazing art experiences.
That was my experience at TeamLab Botanical Garden. The harmony between the distinct art installations and the winding garden paths was truly impressive. I highly recommend it as a must-visit attraction in Osaka.
While teamLab Planets Tokyo is an indoor exhibition, teamLab Botanical Garden Osaka takes place outdoors at the Osaka Metropolitan Nagai Botanical Garden. A unique feature is that it's a light-based exhibition, so you can enjoy it at night.
You should book in advance through kkday and receive your voucher, then proceed to the Osaka Metropolitan Nagai Botanical Garden. Before entering, you will watch a short informational video.
Since the exhibition takes place at night, if you have time, it's recommended to visit a bit earlier to stroll through the botanical garden before enjoying the exhibition in the evening. You can leisurely walk along the lake or go straight to appreciate the various spots.
Representative exhibits include the 'Ovoids' that change color moment by moment, as well as illuminated lights and large ovoids floating on the lake. In the final section, you can see brushstroke-like lines moving vividly through the forest.
