St. John's Gangneung Review 2026: Superior Twin No Ocean View
If an ocean view isn't your top priority, St. John's Hotel Gangneung's Superior Twin No Ocean View offers fantastic value and space for families. Get our 2026 review and tips!

Hi everyone! I'm Ligo, your go-to travel blogger.
On my recent trip to Gangneung with my 3rd-grader,
we spent a night in a Superior Twin No-Ocean View room
at St. John's Hotel Gangneung.
When booking a room without an ocean view,
my biggest concern was, naturally, the view.
But after staying there, if ocean views aren't a dealbreaker for you,
this is a fantastic Gangmun Beach accommodation for a family of three
considering the room size, bed configuration, and overall layout of the hotel.
From check-in times and waiting tips
to the view from Room 7043 and free extra amenities, I’m going to share all the details.
Spoiler alert:
We were 100% satisfied,
and we would definitely stay here again! Haha.

Why We Chose St. John's Hotel
📍 St. John's Hotel
307 Changhae-ro, Gangneung-si, Gangwon-do
Before traveling to Gangneung, we compared several Gangmun Beach accommodations,
but the biggest reason we ultimately chose St. John's Hotel
was because the hotel actually houses
the Running Man Experience Hall inside!

I also loved the fact that we could park at the hotel even before checking in.
We registered for the check-in queue, had an absolute blast at the Running Man Experience,
then dropped our bags in our room and headed straight to the pool.
The flow made everything so incredibly convenient!
Running Man Experience Hall - 1-minute walk
Gangmun Beach - 2-minute walk
Arte Museum - 5-minute drive
It was absolutely the perfect base
for our family's travel itinerary. : )
How to Handle the Check-In Wait

When I searched for reviews about checking in at St. John's Hotel,
there were quite a few negative comments, so I was a bit worried... ^^;;;
But guess what?
It turned out to be incredibly smooth and simple!

If you look to the left of the check-in desk, there's a station to register for the waiting list.
While official check-in time is 4:00 PM,
on weekends, check-in actually starts from 3:00 PM.
And you can register for the waiting list starting from 12:00 PM!

We arrived around 1:00 PM on Sunday
and got waiting number 44.
After securing our spot in line, we headed off to have a blast at the Running Man Experience. haha

Then, once we got the KakaoTalk notification that it was our turn,
we headed back to the lobby.

The TV screens in the lobby display the active numbers like this.
When your number appears, just head up to the desk!
And that was it! Check-in done.
We checked in at 3:00 PM and went straight up to our room.
Superior Twin Room Review

The room we stayed in was the
St. John's Hotel Superior Twin Room
No-Ocean View, Room 7043.

The Superior Twin Room features one double bed and one single bed.
The beds were so incredibly plush and comfortable—we slept like babies! lol
They also provide pillows of varying heights,
so you can choose the one that suits you best.

The room size was also perfect
for our family of three.
Even with our suitcases wide open, there was plenty of space to move around,
and it didn't feel cramped at all.

The bathroom has an open vanity setup where the sink is located outside.
Hand wash and body lotion are provided at the sink.

Towels and a hair dryer are also ready for you.

There's a shower booth right next to the toilet,
but please note there is no bathtub.
I didn't manage to get a photo of it, but
there’s a sliding door right in front of the toilet!
Amenities provided are just shampoo, conditioner, and body wash.
The bathroom wasn't too small either, and it was super clean!

Room 7043, where we stayed, faced the pool on the opposite side.
And if you step out onto the balcony and peek slightly to the side,
you can catch a glimpse of the ocean in the distance, which felt so open and refreshing!
Since it was booked as a "No Ocean View" room, I didn't expect much,
but seeing a tiny slice of the sea right from the window made it so much better than expected.

The fridge in the room is designed specifically for drinks,
and it's a completely silent mini-fridge.

I tried the pumpkin tea provided as a welcome tea with zero expectations,
but wow, the nutty flavor was absolutely delicious! haha
Having it nice and warm after a swim was perfection. haha
Complimentary Items

You can easily request complimentary items through the tablet provided in the room.
Being able to get extra bottled water or towels without any additional charge
makes this such a convenient service, especially for families traveling with kids!
When you're traveling, there are plenty of times you run out of towels or want a bit more water,
so not having to worry about extra charges
was a huge plus for us.

And here's a pro-tip for you!!
Reserve a drying rack as soon as you check in!
There isn't a drying rack in the room by default.
If you request one at check-in, they will bring it to your room,
but keep in mind, it's first-come, first-served!!!
Checking Out

If you don't have any additional charges to pay,
checkout is incredibly simple—just drop your room keys into
the Express Checkout box located
right in front of the elevators on each floor.
It was so quick and convenient not having to queue at the front desk.
100% Willing to Revisit!

To wrap up this review of St. John's Hotel,
the Superior Twin Room
was more than satisfying
for our family of three.
If you can look past the lack of a full ocean view,
the room size, bedding quality,
and complimentary rental services were all top-notch.
Plus, in Room 7043, we could still catch a tiny peek of the ocean, so we didn't feel left out at all!
In fact, we're already comparing prices to go back in August!
August 23 (Sun) - 24 (Mon) / 1 Night / 3 Guests (2 Adults, 1 Child)
This is the criteria I searched with:
Agoda | Yeogi Eottae | |
Superior Twin (No Ocean View) | ~$135 | ~$140 |
Extra Benefits | x | Includes ~$19 Angpang Bakery voucher |
The Agoda rate is
including taxes, ~$135

Agoda Official Site | Free Cancellation & Booking Deals | Over 2 Million Hotels
On Yeogi Eottae,
the package including a voucher for the hotel's Angpang Cafe
comes out to about ~$140 total.
Since it includes a
~$19 credit to spend at the hotel's Angpang Cafe,
this definitely felt like the best value deal!

I was incredibly satisfied with my stay at St. John's Hotel—
I highly, highly recommend it!
If you're looking for the perfect summer getaway,
this is definitely the spot! ^^
