Today, I'm excited to share a must-visit spot in Gangneung's Jungang Market, a place you absolutely can't miss on your trip!

It's perfect to enjoy alongside other dishes, but honestly, it's so satisfying it stands alone perfectly!

💡 Wonjo Somunnan Muchimhoe Basic Information

Wonjo Somunnan Muchimhoe, a renowned spot in Gangneung Jungang Market, offers two main dishes: Spicy Squid Salad (Ojingeo Muchim) and Spicy Cockle Salad (Kkomak Muchim).

They also have Flat Dumplings (Nappjak Mandu), which are fantastic to pair with the main muchimhoe dishes, so keep that in mind!

🐙Their Ojingeo Muchim features tender squid and chewy sea snails, while the Kkomak Muchim is packed with fresh cockles.

Both are available in large (Dae) or small (So) sizes.

They also offer set options that include the Nappjak Mandu, so you can choose whatever suits your taste!

I ordered the large set of Spicy Squid Salad with Flat Dumplings.

If you want to eat right away, they'll mix it for you on the spot! But I wanted to enjoy it as a late-night snack at my accommodation, so I opted for takeout.

They packed it beautifully in a cooler bag, which kept everything perfectly fresh until I got back to my room.

🐙 Spicy Squid Salad (Ojingeo Muchim) Honest Review

Back at the accommodation, it was unboxing time!

I'd heard so many good things about Wonjo Somunnan Muchimhoe in Gangneung Jungang Market, and I was so excited to try it.

When you order for takeout, the special sauce comes separately, allowing you to see the fresh, crisp vegetables and the plump, chewy squid before mixing.

This muchimhoe was a generous mix of half fresh vegetables, half tender squid, and half chewy sea snails!

The sweet, sour, and spicy special sauce, along with fragrant sesame oil, was so good that even tasting the sauce on its own was delicious.

They even thoughtfully provided disposable gloves for easy mixing.

Gloves on! Add the sauce! Drizzle with sesame oil, give it a good shake and mix, and voilà!

The combined aroma of the sweet, sour, and spicy sauce with the nutty sesame oil was absolutely irresistible.

Even Better with Flat Dumplings (Nappjak Mandu)!

Freshly grilled, warm, and perfectly browned flat dumplings!

I specifically chose the set with muchimhoe because I heard they're amazing together, and it was a decision I definitely didn't regret.

The crispy and chewy flat dumplings paired incredibly well with the sweet, sour, and spicy salad.

The refreshing water parsley offered a nice crunch, the vegetables were crisp, the squid was delightfully chewy, and the flat dumplings helped balance out the spicy kick!

I enjoyed it so much that I bought another portion with my own money on my way home.

The drive back home from Gangneung took about 3 hours (around 180 miles), but thanks to the cooler bag, it stayed perfectly fresh.

Even though I initially visited as part of a review, it was so incredibly delicious that I bought more to take home!

This truly confirms its status as a must-visit spot in Gangneung Jungang Market. Thumbs up!👍
