You can't talk about Gangneung Jungang Market's delicious food without mentioning raw fish (hoe)🐟!

After much deliberation among the many Gangneung raw fish restaurants,

I visited Hyeongje Hoetjip, which offers excellent value for money!

So, where exactly is Hyeongje Hoetjip?

In Gangneung Jungang Market,

let me share a quick tip for easily finding Hyeongje Hoetjip!

While the Jungang Market raw fish center is in the basement,

Gangneung Hyeongje Hoetjip is on the 2nd-floor food court.

For those who find it hard to locate the way to the 2nd floor,

if you enter through the entrance next to "Gangneungiyeyo," famous for its potato bread,

you'll find it much easier to go up!

What should you eat at Hyeongje Hoetjip?!🐟

Assorted raw fish, flounder, rockfish, trout, red sea bream, squid, and more!

Gangneung Hyeongje Hoetjip offers a diverse menu.

They sell portions for 2, 3, or 4 people,

so the wide range of options makes it very convenient.

Not only do they offer takeout,

but this Gangneung raw fish restaurant also allows dining in,

and their open kitchen truly stood out.

For your reference, the takeout prices were

approximately ~$7 cheaper than dining in.

My assorted raw fish, with two types of fish chosen, was ready for takeout!

Along with wraps and sauces to enjoy with the fish,

it was neatly packaged in a box.

And to make the raw fish even more delicious,

they also include a refreshing vegetable salad.

In addition to the vegetable salad, they provide lettuce, seaweed, sea snails, wasabi,

flying fish roe, ssamjang (spicy dipping paste), chojang (vinegared gochujang), and more!

They pack all these delicious side dishes too,

so make sure to keep that in mind!

The sashimi takeout I ordered from Hyungje Hoetjip in Gangneung

was set up for two people, and it was so streamlined and

cleanly arranged that it was perfect for two to enjoy!

What makes Hyungje Hoetjip special is their signature

'makhoe' style of slicing sashimi.

Unlike other sashimi restaurants where it's spread out, it's served

in generous piles, which might look like a smaller portion at first glance,

but it's definitely enough for two people!

Sashimi can be unappetizing if it's too thick or too thin,

but this was perfectly chewy yet tender,

just the right thickness to enjoy, making the texture fantastic.

Even just eating the sashimi on its own is sweet, savory, and delicious!

But following Hyungje Hoetjip's recommended way of eating it —

with seaweed, flying fish roe, sashimi, seasoned vegetables, and makjang sauce —

I tried combining all four elements, and

Oh, my! It was soft, savory, and nutty—

absolutely incredibly delicious!

Especially the makjang sauce — it was the absolute kick!!
